From the PTA President My family has a Thanksgiving tradition - right before we load our plates with a feast of goodies, we pass 3 corn kernels around the table. Each kernel represents something we are thankful for, and even though there are many people around the table, we all say different things. How grateful I am for the countless blessings in my life! At the top of my gratitude list this year is Donaldson Elementary. I love the teachers and staff that work tirelessly to help our kids realize their potential. I love the programs and events that enrich our kids' lives. And I love the parents that endlessly volunteer to make Donaldson even better.
This month, we have several opportunities to show our gratitude. On Veteran's Day, the fifth graders will present an amazing tribute to those valiant men and Stay Connected women who protect our freedoms. As the holiday season approaches, I hope each of us will take time to reflect on what really matters, and the people that make us feel like we matter. When someone touches our lives, try to pass it on to bless someone else. Hopefully, that cycle will never end. Kristi Gunderson
The Pie Shoppe Fundraiser

BOX TOPS The counting of Box Tops for Education has ended. Thanks to the excellent searching and clipping skills of our Donaldson students and parents, Donaldson Elementary will be receiving $660.50. Thank you to everyone who helped make this collection effort a success! For those students who submitted 25 or more Box Tops for Education, your prizes will be arriving in your classroom very shortly. The Donaldson PTA appreciates your help and wants to reward you for your efforts! During this collection effort, we had approximately 25% of the Donaldson students turn in Box Tops and the school will receive $660 in return. Imagine what we could earn with 100% student participation! Ask others in your family, neighborhood and workplace to save Box Tops for you, and look in your kitchens for items containing them. You do not need to wait until the next collection effort to turn in Box Tops you may have accumulated. Once you have 25, send them into the school with your student’s and teacher’s name on them in order for them to be awarded a prize during the next collection effort. There is no need to take the time to glue or tape them to the collection sheets – simply putting them in a sealed envelope or plastic bag is sufficient. Thank you again Donaldson Elementary students and parents for supporting this wonderful fundraising event!

Fall Fitness Walk
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Fall Fitness Walk. With your donations the PTA raised more than ever before, $6,562! The following students donated the most in their grade and won a spirit wear prize. Kindergarten: Aldo Betta 1st Grade: Clifford Brindle 2nd Grade: Nathan Athanas 3rd Grade: Acacia Vergenes 4th Grade: Julianne Brindle 5th Grade: Aidan Porter Congratulations to Clifford Brindle in Mrs. Prevade’s Class and Julianne Brindle in Mrs. Kings class for collecting the most donations in the school, a collective $345! You each will become “Assistant Principal” on a date and time of Mrs. Nolan’s choosing! Way to go! Mrs. Boesenberg’s class donated the most collectively, $676! You will receive a nutritious breakfast on the date of her choosing! The class that exhibited the most school spirit and class camaraderie the day of the walk was Mrs. Stouts class! Thanks for keeping our Donaldson school spirit alive! You will receive a class treat for your star power! The students receiving a Special Breakfast with Mr. DeChicko will be on Thursday, November 5th, and notified by their teacher. The Teachers vs. Students basketball game will be announced soon! Congratulations to all the students participating in the Handprint Hall of Fame, receiving Homework Passes or Latitude 360 coupons. You all will be notified and receive your prize soon! Thank you for making this our most successful Walk Fundraiser to date, way to go Donaldson!
