More than 25 years ago DJ Afrika Bambaata produced one of the most influential dance records of all times: „Planet Rock“ for New York‘s Tommy Boy label. It was to become the blueprint for all future genres of electronic dance music. From hip-hop, to house, techno or minimal, „Planet Rock“ is where it all started. The timeless appeal of the track can be found in the use of an austere beat emanating from the now legendary TR-808 Roland drum machine. Using the TR-808 as his muse, Bambaata introduced a whole new approach to creating rhythm. Not boombastic, but rather sparse instead, with a high dose of bounce and funk. Our SG Planet Rock edition is a homage to this groundbreaking record: purist, minimalist, perfect in any combination – or just downright sleek.

The Mash u p Collectors Edition Deconstructing the familiar and reconstructing it in a contemporary context – that’s what THE MASHUP Collectors Edition is all about. This edition of THE MASHUP range uses antique oriental rugs as its raw material. After the printing process, the threads are then remixed in a series of complex, hand-crafted steps – eco-friendly by not using chemical bleaches. The result is in an entirely modern style of rug. Individual and saturated with a new form of distinction, THE MASHUP Collectors Edition rugs tell a modern-day story of deep-rooted respect for tradition and craftsmanship. The Mash u p F RES C O SER I ES Flowery. Pictorial. Classic. And yet a wholly contemporary take. We put a lot of skill, love and devotion into THE MASHUP FRESCO SERIES. First, we cut up oriental rugs, the sort with the traditional floral motif. Then we bash on a bright blue or a discreet grey. Finally, we put the whole thing through a proper vintage treatment, lending the FRESCO SERIES that faded, yet impressive beauty that aged wall paintings have. The rug’s special features include anti-slide backing and extra-stability bordering made with natural rubber to keep the design steady and stylish on the floor.
