Gene Sharp was born in 1928 in Ohio. He is the author of 13 books about the use of non-violence as a weapon against oppression. He is a professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts. He founded The Albert Einstein Institution in 1983, a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the use of nonviolent action in conflicts around the world. More on Dr. Sharp on page 2. Ruaridh Arrow is the director and producer of How to Start a Revolution. This is his first feature film. He has been a producer to Sky News and to Channel 4’s Dispatches programme. He has also produced programmes for BBC News, More4 News and The Financial Times. While filming in Cairo he reported for the BBC from Tahrir Square. Moderator Steve Crawshaw is the International Advocacy Director of Amnesty International. He is the former UK director of Human Rights Watch. He has also worked as a journalist for Granada Television and The Independent and has written several books, among these Small Acts of Resistance.
