A CULTURE OF GENEROSITY

An Orangewood education is transformational. Since its founding in 1980, Orangewood Christian School has consistently created opportunities for generations of students. Countless individuals, including community members like you, have generously contributed to these opportunities, driven by their belief in Orangewood and a desire to contribute to a lasting legacy of equipping students to transform the world for Christ.

The giving interests of community members are diverse so Orangewood offers a variety of ways to give back through charitable gifts and volunteering. In the following sections, you will learn how to consider including Orangewood in your philanthropy during the 202324 school year.

Your support not only enables Orangewood to fulfill its mission but also ensures that our school remains a community where Christian leadership, vision, integrity, and values thrive.

Orangewood's strong culture of generosity strengthens the school today and positions it well for years to come.

ram family fund

Orangewood's annual giving program, the Ram Family Fund, plays a vital role in providing unparalleled opportunities for learning and discovery in academics, the arts, athletics, and other student experiences. Whether meeting a guest author, working on the set for an upcoming main stage production, practicing under stadium lights with new athletic gear, or learning new material from top faculty in their field of study, OCS students are encouraged to reach their full potential as Christian scholars, artists, and athletes as a result of the Ram Family Fund.

Gifts to the Ram Family Fund provide unrestricted financial resources that are a critical source of funding for the school's ongoing operations not covered by tuition. The fund is the primary way for parents, faculty, alumni, grandparents, and friends to help sustain the special characteristics that set Orangewood apart. The success of the Ram Family Fund reflects the spirit of pride and encouragement as each generation of Rams preserves, strengthens, and passes on its experiences to others.

Society for Christian Excellence

Donors who make annual gifts totaling $2,500 or greater for at least 5 years consecutively are honored as members of the Society for Christian Excellence. These gifts continue a tradition of annual giving that has a rich history of supporting exceptional faculty, a diverse curriculum, student academic scholarships, and co-curricular offerings.

The Gold Circle Society

The Gold Circle Society is a distinction honoring current and retired faculty and staff members who have made a longterm commitment to Orangewood through their service and generosity. Recognition in the Gold Circle Society is extended to current and retired faculty and staff who have given to the Ram Family Fund for at least 5 years consecutively or 7 years cumulatively and who give in the current year. The investment of time, service, and financial support from Orangewood's own is inspiring to the entire school community.

volunteer

Volunteers play an important role in Orangewood's education. Not only are they a great resource for faculty and staff, but they serve as a solid support to the school community.

Throughout the year, there are many ways for OCS parents and grandparents to volunteer their time to support the work of the school.

From serving as a lower school room parent to an upper school grade-level parent, helping to chaperone a student trip, serving at special student gatherings, helping to plan Orangewood's annual gala, selling tickets at a game or play, assisting with coaching a team, guest speaking in a class, serving on a parentled committee, or working in our lower school's book fair, there are countless ways to connect your interests and time to positively contribute to the wonderful work at Orangewood.

If interested in volunteering, please contact your student's administration.

Alumni annual giving

Alumni Annual Giving provides OCS Basics and academic scholarships to students. OCS Basics include items like lower school uniforms, snacks and lunches, and family assistance with school trips and fees.

Go Rams Society

orangewood alumni association

This year, our school will launch the Orangewood Alumni Association. The association will support the mission, goals, and strategic plans of the school through the personal dedication and financial giving of alumni. The association's aim will be to foster connections among alumni, the school, and current students.

Through the work of the association, we're hopeful to provide a wide range of opportunities for graduates to reconnect and give back to their beloved alma mater. Whether you have a passion for event planning, a desire to offer family and student mentoring or to help lead fundraising efforts, there will be a place for you to contribute. Join us in enriching, serving, and investing in our school by exploring the opportunities below.

alumni Opportunities

Alumni can maintain connections with Orangewood by serving on the to-be-established Alumni Association leadership team. Additionally, alumni can help to plan Orangewood's Signature Gala, participate in Homecoming Weekend, invest in career or group panels to share experiences with students and fellow alumni, and more.

For more information, please contact Orangewood's Director of Development, Scott Hilinski, at shilinski@ocsrams.org.

Community-Wide Opportunities

orangewood endowment

The Orangewood Endowment is the cornerstone upon which every program is built. Strengthening our endowment today ensures that the Christian teachings, traditions, and values cherished by our school community will endure for generations to come.

Endowment gifts are a perpetual source of support for the school and therefore it is a priority to strengthen the endowment through creative giving opportunities that match donor interests with school needs. Investment opportunities can include planned gifts, the establishment of new endowed funds, and other unrestricted gifts. Gifts can be a named scholarship to support special programs or school offerings, student financial assistance, faculty and staff development, or the ongoing care of facilities and grounds.

Legacy Gifts

One of the most meaningful ways to support student education is through planned giving to OCS. A planned gift reflects the value you place on our school community and ensures that future generations of students can benefit from the opportunity of an Orangewood Christian education. Common methods of planned giving include wills and living trusts, beneficiary designations, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, real estate, donor-advised funds, and charitable lead trusts.

orangewood boosters

Boosters are a dedicated group of parents, supporters, and faculty who aim to assist OCS fine arts and school athletics. The financial support of boosters provides vital funds that allow each program to advance the mission of Orangewood through student creativity, performance, athleticism, and competition.

Historically, Orangewood Boosters has provided supplemental financial support to purchase fine arts and athletics equipment and instruments, contribute to facilities needs, defray travel costs, and help cover incremental program expenses not covered by tuition.

Orangewood's fine arts and athletic departments have booster membership levels for all families and corporations.

For more information regarding fine arts boosters, please contact Mrs. Kelly at lkelly@ocsrams.org.

Orangewood hosts a fundraiser each year to support schoolwide initiatives. More recently, funds raised have been used to build our lower school's academic building and gymnasium, renovate our cafeteria and media center, and purchase new school transportation.

Orangewood's Signature Gala is a fun and welcoming party for parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of the school. With support from businesses, families, and individuals, the gala is a school community celebration, raising funds to advance the mission of OCS, and more importantly to thank the Lord for His faithfulness and continued blessings.

OCS's gala includes online and live auctions, food, and dancing.
