CODE COMPLIANCE AND LANDSCAPING TIPS

As the new Compliance Coordinator and Assistant Manager at Dobson Ranch. My goal is to enhance the aesthetic appeal and curb appeal of the community to help maintain and increase property values.

As we approach monsoon season, please ensure that any fallen fruit from your citrus trees is promptly removed and that tree branches are trimmed back from your home. Maintaining your property not only keeps our community looking its best but also helps prevent safety hazards during high winds and heavy rains. Additionally, as a general guideline, any exterior modifications must be submitted to the DRAC Committee for architectural approval.

If you’re unsure whether a project requires approval, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our office for clarification. We’re here to support residents in maintaining compliance and enhancing the value of our neighborhood. Regular upkeep and timely submissions for improvements help foster a cooperative and visually appealing environment.

Thank you for your attention to these matters and for your continued commitment to keeping Dobson Ranch a beautiful place to live.

SUMMERTIME LANDSCAPING TIPS

1. Water Early or Late in the Day

Water your plants and lawn either early in the morning or after sunset to minimize evaporation and ensure deeper soil absorption.

2. Mow Smart

Raise your mower blade slightly to keep grass a bit longer. Taller grass shades the soil, reduces water loss, and promotes deeper root growth.

3. Mulch for Moisture

Apply a fresh layer of mulch around trees, shrubs, and garden beds. Mulch helps retain soil moisture, reduce weeds, and regulate soil temperature.

4. Inspect Irrigation Systems

Check for leaks, broken sprinkler heads, or misdirected spray patterns to avoid water waste and ensure efficient coverage.

5. Trim Overgrown Branches

Prune trees and shrubs to prevent storm damage during monsoon winds. Keep branches clear of rooftops and power lines.

6. Use Drought-Tolerant Plants

Incorporate desert-friendly or native plants that require less water and thrive in Arizona’s summer heat.

7. Weed Control

Weeds compete with your plants for water and nutrients. Regular removal or spot-treatment can help keep them under control.

8. Fertilize Wisely

Use a slow-release or summer-specific fertilizer to support plant health without encouraging excessive growth that requires more water.

9. Protect Plants from Heat Stress

Provide shade with canopies or shade cloth for sensitive plants. Group container plants together to create a more humid microclimate.

10. Clean Up Yard Debris

Remove dry leaves, branches, and fallen fruit regularly to reduce fire hazards and keep your yard tidy and pest-free.
