Best Practices

The Importance of Consistent Postings • Social media algorithms favor those who post consistently.

• As a creator, it is also important to understand that those who have engaged with your content in the past, or are already following you, are likely to be shown any future content you post in the feed to see if they continue to engage with your page.

• Get in a good rhythm when posting. Tuesday/Thursday. Monday/Wednesday/ Friday. Or 5 days a week. Whichever you choose, stay consistent!

Hashtags ## • Not only do hashtags make your posts come up in search results for keywords you've used, they also help fuel the Instagram algorithm.

• The algorithm will place posts in other users' feeds based on their interest in the hashtags included within your post.

• Instagram says that for best reach, you should limit your tagging to between 3 and 5.

Tagging and Collaborating • When you create a post, if you tag and collaborate with each other, it o ers a

creative opportunity to expand your reach and engage with a larger audience

• It's a mutually bene cial relationship: both parties increase their overall reach.

And it's not just a wider audience: it's a new audience. A collab post will result in fresh eyes on your products, resulting in an opportunity to introduce more people to your brand and their brand.

Using the Proper Thumbnails • A thumbnail is your audience's

rst impression of your content, so you want to make sure it's a good one.

• A custom thumbnail allows you to really sell yourself and your video, so give your audience a reason to watch your video — especially if your video is one of many on the same subject.

Creating Social Media Accounts • When creating social media pages, create it as a business page that promotes the business.

• Create an Instagram account, Facebook account and a Meta Business

account so that you can link them together and each page can help create tra c to both of your accounts.

• You can schedule posts through one account and at the desired time, it will

post the content to both accounts.

Types of Posts • Instagram allows you to post a video up to 10 minutes in length.

• If posted as a reel, you are allowed 1 minute and 30 seconds. Make sure to

remember these rules, if you go to upload a 3 minute video, make it a post, if you make it a reel, it will cut your video o at the 90 second mark.

Going forward • Spring Break and summer months • Goal is to come down during Spring Break and interview tourists (25) to see why they came down to Murfreesboro and how did they hear about it.
