JOIN THE LEGACY

BUILDING THE LEGACY
Inspiring generations of young men through Lasallian Catholic education is a calling. Academic rigor, brotherhood, service, and integrity, all rooted in faith, is a transformative opportunity. Every Spartan is part of a story that began decades ago–a story you are invited to join.
A DE LA SALLE GRADUATE IS A Man of Faith
Who prays and integrates Gospel values
Serves others, especially the poor and the marginalized And appreciates our Lasallian Catholic tradition
For 60 years, De La Salle High School has built a legacy of educational excellence.
Throughout a student’s journey, our Integral Student Outcomes, a set of three expectations for every De La Salle graduate, are guiding principles for all Spartans:
A DE LA SALLE GRADUATE IS A Man of Integrity
Who respects himself and others Embraces social and personal responsibility And nurtures a healthy lifestyle
A DE LA SALLE GRADUATE IS A Man of Scholarship
Who thinks creatively, critically, independently, and collaboratively
Strives for academic excellence And pursues life-long learning
Faith · Integrity Scholarship · Brotherhood
These four profound ideals are the foundation upon which our legacy stands. They inspire our students, guide our faculty, and unite our alumni across generations.
As you get to know De La Salle students, parents, faculty, staff, or alumni, you will start to hear that the “Spartan Brotherhood” makes our school community special. This Brotherhood is the living legacy of our community—one that supports, uplifts, and challenges each member to ‘Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve’ and positively impact humanity’s future, especially for those who are in need. As you will learn, through this connection, students find support, love, and care through academic pursuits, retreats, community service opportunities, athletic competitions, and much more.

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES
Our comprehensive counseling program ensures every Spartan is supported— academically, personally, and spiritually.

De La Salle’s Student Support Services department includes 11 people who provide comprehensive support. Our four school counselors provide a trusted adult who partners with students and parents with academic planning, personal counseling and responsive services. Our Learning Needs Coordinator, Bishop Cummins Coordinator, Learning Center Coordinator, and Spartan Success Program provide additional layers of support on top of our team of three college counselors.
Mental Health
In our school community, we value relationship building and a sensitivity to the mental health and well-being of our students. As an all-boys school, we place special emphasis on helping young men develop emotional literacy, resilience, and healthy ways to navigate both the opportunities and challenges that define the teenage years. Our goal is to ensure every student feels supported, understood, and empowered to thrive.

College Counseling
De La Salle’s three dedicated College Counselors assist all students and families with the process of college admissions, scholarships, and financial assistance applications. In addition, all seniors are scheduled in a College Advisory course to assist them throughout the application process. Our aim is to provide personalized care based on the small number of students trusted to each counselor, the training they receive, and the spiritual grounding of the work at hand.
Library and Learning Center
De La Salle’s Learning Center is a hub of learning and collaboration, where students grow into scholars and leaders.
Our Library serves as a group meeting space, individual study space, and access point to traditional and electronic text, literature, and robust research resources aided by our team of three Librarians.
In the Learning Center, all students can receive academic support from both student volunteers and professional adult
tutors. The welcoming, comfortable, and safe environment features three conference rooms, office spaces, a quiet room, and 20 carousel work stations, catering to the individual and unique learning needs that span our student body.

EMPOWERING MEN OF FAITH
Faith is at the heart of the De La Salle legacy and essential to our Lasallian Catholic education. We aim to create servant leaders inspired to live out the values of our founder, Saint John Baptist de La Salle; young men who have the skills, drive, capacity, and passion to make the world a better place.

Immersions
Students have the exciting opportunity to participate in immersion experiences outside of the Bay Area, expanding their worldview and deepening their commitment to social justice. “VENAVER,” or “Come and See,” trips across the country offer students an opportunity to vividly learn and witness firsthand the realities facing communities in need.

Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry is an integral part of student life at De La Salle. With participation in the Lasallian Youth program, students are empowered to respond to the Lasallian call of Faith, Service, and Community (FSC) and live out the meaning of “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve.” The Campus Ministry team also provides diverse opportunities to serve those less fortunate than ourselves, allowing the De La Salle community to directly respond to the call to service.
Prayer/Liturgies
Each school year, seven all-school liturgies are held in the Kenneth H. Hofmann Student Center for all students, faculty, staff, and coaches to worship together. Daily Mass is offered every morning at 7:45 am in the De La Salle Chapel, and all are welcome to attend. In addition, every grade has an annual Class Liturgy for them and their families to join together in prayer.
Retreats
Our four-year retreat program offers thoughtful and engaging opportunities for students, parents, and faculty alike to take a journey of spiritual growth. Each grade level experiences a retreat corresponding to their level of independence and cognition:
• Freshmen participate in an on-campus retreat, “Brotherhood,” where students focus on community-building and belonging.
• Sophomores participate in an off-campus retreat, “Metanoia,” where they focus on becoming a Man of Integrity with Jesus as our model.
• Juniors participate in an off-campus FSC immersion in San Francisco with St. Anthony’s Foundation. These FSC immersions challenge students to serve those most in need.
• Seniors participate in a three-day capstone “Kairos” retreat at the Vallombrosa Retreat Center. Students focus on their relationship with themselves, with others, and with God.

Spartan Athletics
Rooted in hard work, discipline, and perseverance, a De La Salle student-athlete learns the value of pushing their limits and striving for excellence. Committed to providing a well-rounded program for our 750 student-athletes, the De La Salle Athletic Department provides student-athletes with a program that is not only physically challenging, but complementary to the spiritual and academic values of Saint John Baptist de La Salle.

De La Salle Athletics recognizes and fosters the development of commitment, brotherhood, and sportsmanship, and hope to instill, in all student-athletes, a sense of pride, achievement, and integrity. Coaches serve as mentors and role models, helping student not just become better athletes, but better individuals.
Our interscholastic athletic teams compete in the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) and the North Coast Section (NCS) of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF).
