Olimpiada Nacional Mexicana 2012

l Consulado de México en Filadelfia informa que El Sistema Nacional de Cultura Física y Deporte (SINADE), la Comisión Nacional de Cultura Física y Deporte (CONADE) y el Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior (IME) organizarán la Olimpiada Nacional 2012, que tendrá lugar de mayo a junio del 2012. El Objetivo de esta iniciativa es ofrecer a los deportistas de origen mexicano que radican en Estados Unidos y Canadá la posibilidad de competir en México y, eventualmente, tener la posibilidad de continuar una carrera deportiva en nuestro país. Como en años anteriores, el Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior (IME) participará en la organización de esta Olimpiada. La convocatoria incluye 32 disciplinas de modo que, aquellos deportistas que cumplan con los requisitos de la misma, participen en la delegación que representará al IME en ésta ocasión. La convocatoria general para este evento nacional, en donde se pueden revisar los anexos técnicos de cada disciplina pueden ser consultados en la página: http://www.conade.gob.mx; Es importante mencionar que el Consulado de México en Filadelfia apoyará a los deportistas que requieran de obtener la nacionalidad mexicana (registro de nacimiento) y a obtener su pasaporte mexicano para que viajen a competir con dicho documento.

Ya viene el Día Panamericano T

he Pan American Association of Philadelphia will host PAN AMERICAN DAY on Thursday April 12, 2010, 11:30 a.m. (Lunch and Awards Ceremony) & 2 p.m. (Panel), at the Union League of Philadelphia, 140 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102. WHY: Celebrate the founding of the Organization of American States (OAS) and highlight contemporary issues affecting relationships between the people and nations of the Western Hemisphere. Also, to recognize the achievements of college students enrolled in Latin American studies at area colleges.

About the Program Theme: “The United States and Latin America: Policy Continuity or Change?” The panelists will be General Douglas M. Fraser, USAF, Commander of the United States Southern Command, Ambassador Jeffrey Davidow, Former Ambassador to Mexico and Assistant Secretary of State, Dr. Chris Sabatini, Council of the Americas, Dr. Jorge Heine, Former Chilean Ambassador to India, and

Virginia Contreras, former Venezuelan Ambassador to the OAS and former personal lawyer of President Hugo Chavez. Relations between the United States and Latin America are being reshaped by the rapid economic growth of a number of Latin American countries, the emerging power of Brazil and other nations, and the role of China. Panelists will make presentations and dialogue with the audience on the future policy of the United States towards Latin America and the policy perspectives of Latin American countries towards the United States. What policies should be pursued to promote a peaceful, prosperous, and democratic Hemisphere? The Pan American Association is proud to bring together a distinguished set of speakers from academia, diplomacy, and the military, from both the United States and Latin America to discuss this important question. About the Awards The Alejandro Reyes Award will be presented to a student selected from several nominees attending

Latin American studies at a Philadelphia area college. The award carries a $1,500.00 cash prize. Also, Pan American Scholar plaques and cash prices will be awarded to college seniors graduating from Latin American Studies programs. The Pan American Association of Philadelphia was founded in 1940 and promotes cultural, education and social activities designed to increase understanding and cooperation among the peoples of the Americas. One of the primary goals of the Association is education, through the encouragement of academic study, cultural exchange, and the presentation of a continuing series of seminars and lectures on contemporary issues affecting relationships between the people and nations of the Western Hemisphere. In addition, the Association maintains three academic scholarships, two of which encourage student achievement in Latin American studies at area colleges and universities and a third which benefits the Performing Arts.
