Los Angeles is the nation’s second largest metropolitan area, with one of the densest and most diverse urban populations in the country. This, in conjunction with its access to international exposure, tourism and funding, gave Los Angeles the edge as NASA’s choice for a new permanent home for the Space Shuttle Endeavour. The shuttle represents an amalgamation of all the advanced knowledge of the time. From human physiology and psychology, to material, atmospheric, engineering, and computer sciences; extending to education, data management, infrastructure, logistics, even choreography and beyond. The exhibition of this symbol of civilization’s ability and achievement, into the rich context of Los Angeles promises to return benefits beyond the immediate context and even the immediate generation. This project brings the Space Shuttle Endeavour to a new permanent facility after a long journey and provides the shuttle with its final mission; to educate, and inspire interest in science, technology, and space exploration. Exposition park has been incredibly prolific in its capacity to show different architectural typology within the park. Yet these very unique designs of the buildings encourage for a new type of architectural forms to escape the rigid building forms of Los Angeles
