Hi! I can’t believe this is the last issue of our newsletter this year. It feels like yesterday I hosted my very first DCM. We’ve come a long way, and I hope you’re all proud of the work you’ve done and the change you’ve made. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in 2023, and I hope you have a great Christmas and a relaxing time away from school.

MONTHLY CLUBmonthly club

Dougherty valley

This month, our club hosted an event with For Future Lungs, an organization that raises awareness against the impacts of tobacco, especially for younger generations. We made and decorated stress balls with balloons and flour, including small note cards with these bags. These stress balls will be included in donation kits for children in Vietnam. We are planning to host another event with this organization in December to create cards against tobacco usage! After this, our club hosted a full club meeting where we introduced a few more service events for November and publicized paying dues. Some of our members also attended the division DCM and DWS activities during Thanksgiving Break, and we continued our Charity Miles event and collecting outside hours. Our officers also took officer photos for this month for our school. Lastly, we are looking forward to our Interkey event in December with Monte Vista, San Ramon Valley, and Athenian Key Club! This event will be a holiday-themed service event, social, and toy drive, and will also have some other holiday-themed activities! :)

RECAPS recaps

Monte vista

This month, Monte Vista Key Club continued with their two ongoing service projects: Charity Miles and Pause For. Members also participated in our district's service projects and council meetings; at the DWS, they volunteered at Safeway stores to support local food banks, and at the DCM, they made cards to show their thankfulness. Our club gained an applicant for our recently combined Member Outreach and Service Projects Committee! Additionally, Daniel Du was our club's member of the month!

After nearly a month of planning, it was time for the interkey with Athenian, SRV, Dougherty, and Monte Vista! As people began to arrive (and the toy donations piled up), we played a few games to get to know all the key clubbers who came. Once icebreakers were over, we moved on to gift wrapping and hot cocoa, and suffice it to say, there were some *interesting* wrapping jobs. After a couple more games, we decorated cookies, (or in one particular member’s case, doused them in frosting, sprinkles, and McDonald’s sauces) to round off the night.

On December 9th, the Key Clubs of Monte Vista High School, Dougherty Valley High School, San Ramon Valley High School, and The Athenian School gathered to celebrate the holidays together wrapping gifts and decorating cookies. The event was held at the San Ramon Valley Commons, with music, Christmas games, hot chocolate, and other fun activities! All from a $6 donation, this was a great way to keep the Christmas spirit up, while fundraising at the same time. The proceeds from the services will be donated to the charity of the school’s choice, which was done in a lively and spirited way for many students to enjoy.

In the month of November, we had two key club meeting during lunch. Both of these meetings went well as the officers presented information on the slideshows and we got to do some bonding with our members. We talked about events such as the interkey, the DCM, fundraisers, and service opportunities. It was really nice seeing new members show up to meetings and we also announced the member of the month!
