Hey there, Blue Devils! Happy July! I hope you all had a fun and safe Fourth of July, and that you’re excited to continue serving your communities and attending upcoming events! As I know you’ve heard countless times, the summer is an amazing time to get as many service hours as you can! Whether it’s attending a DWS, going to a club service event, or even volunteering outside of Key Club, remember to keep giving back to your homes, schools, and communities! Earlier this month, I was in Baltimore, Maryland for the annual Key Club International Convention, where we elected our new International Board (again, congrats to IP D37N LTG Irin Shim for being the first International Board member from CNH in years!), voted on amendments, and more! I’ll talk about ICON more at the DCM (speaking of which, I hope to see you there!). Officers: even though summer is a time for rest and recovery, remember that as a club officer, you made a commitment to Key Club, and are still responsible for whatever tasks your position entails! Thank you to those of you who have continued to complete submissions (the names of officers who sent in on-time MRFs, MOERs, and Articles/ Visuals are on page 10!)- your work is greatly appreciated! That’s all for now! As always, feel free to let me know if you ever need anythingI’m here to help you! Serving with FIRE,

Changing the Key Club pledge to: “I pledge, on my honor, To uphold the Objects of Key Club International; To build my home, school, and community; To serve my nation and God world; And combat all forces which tend to undermine these institutions.” Reasoning: To promote more inclusiveness to members who are nonreligious. Comment: The original resolution also proposed to change “combat” to “resist,” but this was amended at the House of Delegates to disregard this change. Status: Adopted *Make sure to memorize/know the new pledge as the old one will not longer be used*

I went to the Officer Training Conference in June and I had a lot of fun! I not only learned about my own officer position but all the other officer positions as well. I was fascinated by learning about all the duties that other officers have and it inspired me to learn more about Key Club! I met officers from other clubs as well and was very intrigued to see how their Key Club works! Overall, I was grateful for this event because it showed me how fascinating and large Key Club is! -Anika Vijayakar, Dougherty Valley The OTC was one of the most educational training conferences I’ve attended. Each presentation was well thought out and all the presenters held a lot of knowledge on their subject. From an IP officers’s point of view, the effort put into this year’s OTC showed me that the division is in good hands this term! You could really see the desire held by everyone to uphold inclusiveness and to participate in the conference! -Ryan Leung, Dublin Relay for Life Relay for Life is a cancer charity walk run by the American Cancer Society. In this DWS, we were able to help out with carrying out the logistics of running this event. We helped fill out paper bags of sand to line up along the bleachers, which would later be filled with a candle -all together lighting up words such as hope and cure. Each bag was brought in by someone of the community, personalized to honor someone they lost to cancer. It was pretty amazing to see the community come together and work together for such an important cause. -Deya Liao, Dublin During the June DCM, we went a park in Walnut Creek at and there were several different service projects that we did. We made cards for hospital patients, made dog toys, and helped clean up the park by picking up trash. Right after the project, we had a basketball tourney which I was apart of. It was a lot of fun teaming with my 26 south members, and was a great time overall. I would definitely go again because I was able to bond with a lot of new people and help serve my community in the process. -Kazu Asakawa, California The June DCM was a perfect encapsulation of key club’s core values! When we first arrived the d26s and d26n spirit coordinators led a game of huggy bear, which was an ice breaker game that involved getting into group hugs and getting to know each other. This was a great opportunity to not only get to know people from your division better, but also to meet people from d26n. The spirit coordinators made sure that everyone was included. After that, we had a mini service marathon with three different stations each led by a member or officer. The three stations were making dog toys, cards for cancer patients, and cleaning up the park. In the cards we just wrote caring messages to brighten the kids’ day. At the end on the day we had a basketball tournament that included both north and south. If I am being completely honest my favorite part of the day was getting to know so many people that I had never had the courage to start a conversation with at other events. The June DCM was a blast and at the same time we were able to give back to the community. -Isabella Gonzales, Dublin
