1st Cambridgeshire Libraries bring you online events! A visual journey into the “Zone of Alienation” around Chernobyl, the reactor complex and the abandoned town of Pripyat. David Horan takes a look at some of the hows and whys of the 1986 disaster. “Disaster analysis” was part of David’s degree course and the opportunity to visit the site could not be turned down - it proved to be fascinating from both an engineering and a human point of view. For the past ten years, many libraries have held EngAGE sessions - programmes of talks and demonstrations, with a guest speaker. The audience for this programme is over-50s.

22nd Cambridgeshire Libraries bring you online events! Before the Grand Arcade there was the Grafton Centre and, before that, the Lion Yard and, before that, Eaden Lilley and Joshua Taylor’s and Mackintosh’s, and so on till we go back to the mists of time when a very small Cambridge was important enough to have its mint (the sort producing silver pennies) and boats on the river brought in goods from fenland - sedge and fish - and luxuries imported through (King’s) Lynn. It’s a long tale for a short talk! For the past ten years, many libraries have held EngAGE sessions - programmes of talks and demonstrations, with a guest speaker. The audience for this programme is over-50s.
