PAVA
Our PAVA program helps ensure that people with disabilities are included in the election process. Civic engagement and inclusion of all people, including people with disabilities, is paramount to our democracy. We ensure that every qualified person with a disability has access to vote on Election Day.
Change Begins at Home
DRNY organized a series of virtual panel discussions that focused on the importance of civic engagement in local elections. For each event, we invited policy makers and local elected officials who identify as part of underserved communities. We hosted two events for the 20-21 fiscal year, connecting with over 140 participants in the Latino and Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) communities in New York, New Jersey, California, and many other states across the country.

Latino Community (5/20/21): Panelists Rebecca Escobar (NJ New Brunswick City Council), Eddie Cuesta (Dominicanos USA), and Jose Hernandez (Self-advocate, United Spinal Association) facilitated discussion about intersectionality of disability, voting, and Latino community. 46 attendees.
AAPI Community (7/28/21): Panelists NYS Senator John Liu, Lala Wu (Co-founder of Sister District) and Gabriel Taylor (DRCA) facilitated discussion about intersectionality of disability, voting, and AAPI community. 61 attendees (38 YouTube views).
