PABSS
Our PABSS program helps people remove barriers to being successfully employed. Some of those barriers include denial of reasonable accommodations, lack of accessible transportation to get to work, or being discriminated against while at work. Potential clients must be under age 65, and must currently be receiving SSI and/or SSDI.
Article 14(c) Subminimum Wage Outreach & Education
Our work in 14(c), certified subminimum wage settings has been collaborative across programs. We conducted outreach events to workers to educate them about their rights.
We have educated beneficiaries, and have offered referrals and technical assistance to former 14(c) employers who now employ people with disabilities at competitive wages. This outreach and education assists employees to more readily access resources such as vocational rehabilitation (VR).
We made referrals to supports where appropriate and we also assisted these employees to access VR services in order to obtain competitive wages. Finally, we have taken steps to educate policymakers on the harmful effects of the subminimum wage upon the success of people with disabilities in the workforce.
