DIMOCK CENTER EMERGENCY FUND
Dear Dimock Family, The disproportionate impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on low-income people of color, who are the majority of Dimock patients, has been devastating. In March of 2020, The Dimock Center launched an Emergency Fund to meet the critical needs of the more than 19,000 families and individuals we serve. Over 100 individuals, corporations, and foundations responded with generous contributions. Thank you so much for stepping in to help when it was most needed. We are sincerely thankful for the donations from our long-time donors, and are thrilled to welcome many first-time donors into the Dimock Family. Thanks to your generosity, $1,040,000 was raised to ensure vital care for those in most need. In addition, you helped ensure that 500+ Dimock colleagues remained employed. This was a monumental effort that could not have been achieved without you. The impact of your support is detailed in this brochure. You mobilized to heal and uplift our community. We express our deepest gratitude, and are honored to have you as part of the Dimock Family. Sincerely,
Raquel Rosenblatt Chief Development Officer

HARVARD PILGRIM HEALTH CARE FOUNDATION During the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of people in Massachusetts at risk for food insecurity rose by more than 62 percent. With the required closure of Dimock’s Early Education programs, our families lost access to the healthy meals our programs provided, and were faced with filling the gap on their own.
The Emergency Meals Distribution Program provides fresh meals for the Dimock community.
We were honored when Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation stepped in with a grant to help develop an emergency meals distribution program. Partnering with Boston caterers Fresh Food Generation and Commonwealth Kitchen, we were able to provide nearly 10,000 meals to our Early Education families and other families in need. “Our partnership with Dimock was centered around delivering healthy, fresh meals to families in the community who were impacted by COVID-19,” said Karen Voci, president of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation. “But the real heroes are the chefs, the local volunteers, the leaders spearheading the program, and being so flexible and agile during this difficult time.”
“ Knowing that my children are able to receive these essential meals at home has really taken a huge burden off of me…Dimock has really helped me get through this tough time.” Tammy Early Education Program parent
In addition to the meals, 4,000 bags of fresh produce were distributed and eight staff jobs at Food Generation and CommonWealth Kitchen were also saved. Voci said, “They’re feeding people. They’re connecting people. They are inspirational.” We are deeply grateful for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation’s generosity and partnership, and the special collaboration with Fresh Food Generation and Commonwealth Kitchen. Their support helped meet a critical need during a difficult time for families in the Dimock community.

LIBERTY MUTUAL INSURANCE When we launched our Emergency Fund to meet the urgent needs arising from the COVID-19 crisis, Liberty Mutual Insurance were the first to respond with a generous contribution. We deeply appreciate their swift response to a pandemic that hit the Dimock community especially hard. Liberty’s support helped provide the needed care for those who depend on The Dimock Center, and also to meet the emerging needs caused by the pandemic. “COVID-19 has disproportionately affected communities that can least afford it, and The Dimock Center is at the center of the battle to protect and care for the most vulnerable,” said Melissa MacDonnell, Liberty Mutual Foundation President and Dimock Community Foundation Board Member. “At Liberty we’re committed to being there for people when they need us most. Supporting Dimock helps us respond to the urgent need in our communities in this time of crisis.” One of the most profound impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic was the greater burden it placed on low-income communities of color – Dimock’s target population. The grant from the Liberty Mutual Foundation helped meet our community’s healthcare needs at this critical time with expanded services, such as a special dedicated COVID-19 treatment unit and a contact tracing program.

We are truly grateful for our longterm partnership with Liberty Mutual and for their generous support to the Dimock Center Emergency Fund. Liberty’s leadership ensures that we can continue to provide uninterrupted care to our patients during this unprecedented human crisis.
