Week Two

Isometric

Isometric view with partial texture Choosing of this orientation is intended to show the road in a horizontal way, combining the structures to show visual clarity. Initially I try to texture the entire shadow on the ground, and the boundary of pavillion, but due to the size problem, it has to be fixed as the next image. But key texture difference showed how is the threshold happen on the site, with enough clarity to be identified.

Barkow Leibinger - Serpentine 2016

The key concept of Barkow Leibinger summer house is drawn from a pavillion by Williams Kent, which sit on the top of hill, higher than surrounding views, Barkow and Leibinger use the 360 degrees idea to build this summer house.

not have an formal entrence or exit. But threshold still exist, when passengers walk into the boundary on the ground, which correspond with the boundary of canopy, they will sense that they have walk into a different space. Seats, give habitable space for passengers, within the space under canopy, but differentiated by functions. Also shadow can be seen as threshold, the vertically arranged walls bring shadow in a dynamic way, like a real living tree, and these define space with shadow or space with light, people choose to stand in shadow or light, sit in shadow or light, or even both. The combining of these three thresholds give many possibilities for the passengers to choose.
