WEEK 3 READING: TITLE OF READING Complete your reading before attempting these questions:

Question 1: What is Pictorial Space according to Le Corbusier? (Maximum 100 words) On a flat plane, different objects’ interaction create an illusion, which appears a recede distance between objects, and this is the so-called pictorial space.

Question 2: The Flatness of Le Corbusier’s painting’s are attributable to two properties. What are they? And what are these pitted against?(Maximum 100 words) The shape and colour, create objects on painting togetherly, the contoured shapes are compose together “two-dimensionally“. Le Cobusier refuses use black, which is the second property that snese of flatness in his paintings.

MARIO’S WORLD

3

1ST MARIO’S WORLD

The frist drawing seperated in two parts, the top surface, and the rest of underground world, this way brings convenienence on drawing of 45 degree. By noticing the small stuff in the mario world, I decided to drawing them in a much bigger size, to illustrate their detail better, as well as the pyramid, it makes traces become easier in illustrator.

4

COMBINED MARIO’S WORLD

Combining two parts together, and the disadvatages can be shown, the hollowed out area in the middle of mario world is intending to fulfill the whole image, which come out after this combining.

WEEK 4 READING: TITLE OF READING Complete your reading before attempting these questions:

Question 1: Explain the difference between Pictoral (in this case perspectival) space and Projection? (Maximum 100 words) The perspective space indicates the space for viewers from one static space, and end at vanish point, projections create sense of space as well, but the parallel lines are meansurable and unambiguous, which trasport the information of levels, ranks in a more accurate way.

Question 2: Where did Axonometric projection first arise, and why? (Maximum 100 words) It firstly used in military context, for the reason of meansuring accurartely.

ILLUSTRATED MARIO’S NEW WORLD

T

he light source is select to be top left, therefore the surface at left and top are always lighter than righ surface, also the using of solid colours are dimmer and dimmer from top to bottom, to indicate that there is no light in underground, one exception is at the hollow area in the middle, the light have a chance to get in, so a lighter period is applied at there. By drawing a lesson from mincraft, some little bars are placed in “water“, to represent a sense of fluid. Also, from top to bottom, the colour of water is getting dimmer without the light, at the darkest place, water decided to be purple instead of navy, is because of the contrast colour creats a better harmony sense than “boring“ navy colour. And many other details are waiting you to explore.

APPENDIX

Initially, I was not able to use the T-square for some reasons, I thought that’s okay, its not a big problem, but when I step into the combining stage and tracing stage, problems come out, some straight lines are definately not straight, and some 45degree lines dont match each other at all, If I could say there is one lesson I could drawn in these stage, that must be the necessity of drawing with ruler and compasses accutately!
