Lone Star College-Kingwood: Start Close. Go Far. Dear Community: It is an honor to be named the sixth president of Lone Star College-Kingwood. My team and I will continue to offer optimal educational opportunities to our students and communities. Our primary mission is to ensure that students achieve their academic goals and prepare them to attain successful careers in their chosen fields. At LSC-Kingwood, we offer many academic courses, associate degrees, specialized workforce programs, and continuing education programs. Offerings include computer gaming, fire science, health care programs, instrumentation technology, teaching, process technology, and much more. In spring 2022, we will open our new Health Professions Center. This fall, we will push several new initiatives, including: •
College by Design is a pilot program for students who want to earn a transfer degree in business full-time or part-time flexible schedule. Students can choose the modality that works best for them, and we guarantee that their required classes will always be available.
•
LSC TechConnect encourages students to borrow a laptop or an iPad bundle (keyboard, case, and pen) loaded with as long as they take college courses.
•
TRIO SSS Grant provides academic support to ensure success for students listed as firstgeneration in college, income-limited, or have a disability through free programming.
LSC-Kingwood is a part of the Lone Star College system. The campus has a main location on Kingwood Drive and two satellite facilities. •
LSC-Atascocita Center (West Lake Houston Parkway) offers general classes and is the newest site for iSchool-Atascocita, a tuition-free, public charter high school that provides personalized instruction.
•
LSC-Process Technology Center (Lockwood Road in Generation Park) houses the instrumentation technology and process technology programs.
Lastly, it is no secret that COVID-19 and its variants have significantly impacted the world. Rest assured that LSC-Kingwood is working hard to provide a safe and healthy environment. Efforts include: •
Offering in-person, online, and hybrid courses.
•
Putting hand sanitization stations in each building.
•
Encouraging everyone to wear masks, get vaccinated, and adhere to the CDC’s social distancing guidelines. These are exciting times at LSC-Kingwood. I encourage you to come and see all of the great things that we offer. If my team or I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to call us at 281-312-1600 or visit www.lonestar.edu/kingwood. Sincerely, Dr. Melissa Gonzalez LSC-Kingwood President
