T HE GE M O F S O M E RV ILLE Somerville Historical Museum In the Introduction to the book “The History of Somerville”, the city founded by Albert Somerville, the very first line reads: “Some memories are like jewels in the mind of man.” To walk into the Somerville Area Museum is to walk into a hall of jewels, each jewel a memory. That is exactly why the museum was founded in 1979 by Barney Davis. He and his wife Pam were the guiding lights for the founding of the museum. A room in the museum is named after him and features a bronze bust of him.
