LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
H
appy summer to all of you! Last month our community experienced big loss with the retirement of our longtime Maintenance Manager Robert Jung. As a lot of you know, Robert has been overseeing maintenance in the park and in the common areas for about 30 years, and his tremendous work ethic, skill and attitude will be impossible to fully replace. He was a true craftsman and a gentleman who took a lot of pride in his work and cared about our residents. When Robert informed the Board of his intention to retire in April, it was our intent to have a community celebration for him and give him a well-deserved send-off. But for those of you who know Robert may know that he is a quiet and rather private person, and it was his wish that we not make the announcement publicly until he was gone, so we honored his wish. Robert will be greatly missed, but of course we thank him for his many years of dedicated service and wish him nothing but the best in retirement, and we wish him happy hunting and fishing. At the same time, we are still in good hands. Benny Martinez has been working with Robert for a little over a year as Maintenance Assistant and has really proven himself to be a skilled and capable worker. Like Robert, Benny also has a great attitude and work ethic, and I’ve used this space in the past to brag about his willingness to go above and beyond to get work done. Robert also did a great job of mentoring him in the ins and outs the various maintenance needs of our park and common areas, so Benny is prepared. Benny has been promoted to Maintenance Lead, and we are in the process of looking at candidates to find somebody to assist him. Please join me in congratulating Benny on his well-deserved promotion. Speaking of the park, it’s been great to see how many people are spending time fishing in the pond. The effort to re-stock the pond with different sizes of bass, along with grass carp to reduce the amount of the chara grass that inhibits fish growth and reproduction, has gone well. But please remember that fishing at the park is strictly catch & release. Lastly, for those of you who were able to attend the June 5 community Board meeting, we were very happy to present the interior and exterior plans for the clubhouse. At the time of this writing, the project is out for bid with three general contractors, and we will review the bid information, work with the contractors to modify the bid information if necessary, and then present that information to the community for the vote this summer on whether or not we move forward with the project. As a board we regret that the process has taken so long, there were various factors that were out of our control, but we are finally close to the finish line in terms of design, budget and community review & approval. And our goal all along has been to take the time necessary toAll ensure the are proposed has Meetings held at project 7:00 p.m. atbeen the done well and done right. Clubhouse at the Park. Thanks for your time, and I’ll see you around the neighborhood.
