At more than 31,000 acres, Lake Apopka (facing page) is the third-largest lake in Florida and a popular destination for fishing and boating. The soon-to-come Apopka City Center (above) will encompass 35 acres at the interchange of U.S. 441 and S.R. 436. It will contain 207,000 square feet of restaurants, retail and office space as well as a hotel, homes and a community park. The Apopka Amphitheater (below) is part of the city’s Northwest Recreation Complex. It seats 1,500 with lawn seating for as many as 5,000. The 22-mile-long West Orange Trail (bottom) passes through downtown Apopka via a bridge over U.S. 441.
