Koeboe Sarawan Born in Malang, June 29, 1961. He graduated from Indonesian Academy of Arts in Yogyakarta in 1985. Koeboe Sarawan spent his younger years learning Batik then he started to paint. Koeboe Sarawan’s great asset is his magnificent talent to portray visual reality in detail and realistic manner. He seriously capture the detail form but once he act humorously and critical. His works are represented in more attractive was a way with the exact choices of object. The themes revealed in his paintings were a projection of honesty that attracts viewers to learn more about the painter’s goal through his works. His works are mostly categorized as surrealistic though actually they are more realistic in symbolic way. His ideas are still dominated by his surroundings which represent his social experiences. The painting looks as if it was 3 dimensional, utilizing excellent realism techniques, so every details and perspective of the work seem very realistic. Koeboe is an artist that has his own characteristic. His paintings give a surrealist and mysticism feel with metaphor language through philosophical reflection of finesse technique. In painting the present lot Koeboe try to present the Budha figure that symbolizes peace and harmony. His emotional bond towards his grand mother is also one of the influences in shaping his mindset. Koeboe believes that originality in this world does not exist, because originality only belongs to God.
