TREASURES FINE ART AUCTION

CONDITION OF BUSINESS The conditions of business set up below are information guidance for prospective buyer and seller with any enquiries relating to buying or selling at the auction. We encourage you to read them wisely and thoroughly.

THE BUYER

Estimated Price Estimated price is the price range, which reflects the opinion of our specialist for the price expected to offer at the auction. This should not be relied on as a statement that this price is either at which the lot will sell or its value for any other purpose. Estimated prices are based upon prices recently paid at auction, and the condition of the artworks including the quality, rarity and history of ownership (provenance). Reserve Price The reserve is the confidential minimum price the seller is willing to accept and below which a lot not be sold. Buyer’s Premium Buyers are reminded that the price to be paid will be the sum of the final bid price plus the buyer’s premium. The rate of buyer’s premium for each lot is 22 % (twenty two percent) of the hammer price.

BEFORE THE AUCTION

Viewing Pre-sale viewings are strongly recommended for prospective buyers in order to examine the artworks thoroughly. Pre-sale viewing is open for the public at no charge and usually displayed for 2 (two) days prior to the sale. Condition Reports Condition reports are available upon request. They are statements of opinion and should not be relied on as statements of definitive fact. Descriptions of property are not warranties and that lot is sold “as is”. All goods are sold with all faults and imperfections and errors of description. Illustrations in catalogues are for identification only. It is strongly recommended that prospective buyers inspect and seek any independent expert advice to satisfy you as to authorship, attribution, authenticity, genuineness, origin, date, age, provenance or condition of lot. Registration If you are planning to participate in the auction, you will need to register with us at the registration desk, to complete a bidder registration form and to receive a bidding number to identify you if you are a successful bidder. Registration can be made during the viewing period or 30 minutes prior to the sell.

The auctioneer will accept bids from those present in the saleroom or absentee bidders participating by telephone or by written bid left with TREASURES in advance. The lot being offered is usually illustrated on a screen. Bidding Increments Bidding generally opens below the low estimate and advances in the following increments: Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp. Rp.

Tio Tjay Tio Tjay born in Jakarta 1946 was an Indonesian painter who for a long time has reside in Brazil. At a very young age, young Tio Tjay enjoy studying Chinese painting and calligraphy. His talent for art was already sensed by people at youth. In 1967 he immigrated to South American with his family. He held many exhibitions, from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia and even Paraguay. In 1971 till 1975 he resided in Manaus, capital of the Amazon. There he meet a very similar environment to his home island Java. It is Amazon Rainforest that really inspire him to draw painting about nature. In 1976, he moved back to São Paulo and participate in the exhibition of Bienal Nacional de São Paulo. 1980’s was a great decade for Tio Tjay. He was invited to join an exhibition in Italy which was held in Naples for a cultural relationship between Brazil and Italy. A few years later, he was again invited to Tukuyama, Japan for a collective exhibition. And in the same year, he returned to Indonesia and worked in his birth country. Tio Tjay’s theme and composition can be seen through the perspective of enjoyment because his works sometimes bring a magical mood to the viewers. His paintings also dominantly composed with decorative elements from traditional motifs especially the one that developed in Java. His painting subject are ranging from traditional market scene, harvesting activity, traditional dancers, fishermen as well as animal themes. Tio Tjay’s works appear colorful, dynamic in form and rich in composition variations. His canvases always end up in calm, tranquil, while emitting the warmth of the tropical atmosphere, the natural atmosphere that is usually encountered in Indonesia and Brazil. His compositions are so graceful in portraying his objects in pulling lines or outlines that tend to move short, broken, stiff and rigid. While in it the colors are composed in solid harmony and often bring accent colors.

Teguh Ostenrik His art works and commissioned projects are collected by many private collectors, museums, international institutions and major corporations. To name a few are Willem de Kooning Studio – USA, St.Mary of the Angels Church – Singapore, Fukuoka Art Museum – Japan. Among many noteworthy recognitions, Ostenrik was awarded The Best Artist 2009 and 2014 in Visual Arts Category by Tempo Magazine and the Top Ten Philip Morris Art Award in 1997. In May 2014 , he initiated ARTificial Reef Park Project which was launched in Lombok, Indonesia, a project to restore the nature through art. Using biorocks technology, Ostenrik provides his underwater sculptures as media for the coral to grow , providing a better marine ecosystem and at the same time creating job opportunities for the community. To this day, two more ARTificial Reef projects have been made in Wakatobi, South East Sulawesi and Sepa Island, North Jakarta. The fourth location is built in Bangka Island, North Sulawesi. Ostenrik’s 24 years work of art has been documented in Transcending Time,a full coloured 250 pages book, wrote by Art Historian Barbara Asboth which was released in year 2000. He was a guest lecturer in the Beijing Central Academy of Art in 2006. For three consecutive years (2006-2008) Teguh is a jury member of China Asean Youth Art Creativity Contest in Nanning – China, a drawing competition with 3000 participants. In 2013, he represented Indonesia to commemorate 10th Anniversary of China-Asean Expo. In 2017, he presented a permanent public art to Jakarta Municipality using four authentic segments of Berlin Wall , each measuring 3.6 meter high and 1.2 meter wide, and thirteen human figure sculptures are complimenting the wall. The work is intended as a reminder to Indonesia’s nation to “broke through the border”, breaking down the walls of all the existing fundamental differences, and uniting thoughts and actions to build the nation, to never forget history. As evidence abounds that conflicts of interest will only bring about human suffering. 031
