This toolkit is aimed at public primary and secondary schools in South Africa, to be used by all stakeholders as a guide to help schools to understand and address dropout holistically and effectively in their school communities. It provides valuable information about who the main role-players in dropout prevention are within a school, and what specific actions they can take to help prevent school dropout. It also provides school leaders with a roadmap of what they can do to ensure they are preventing dropout and promoting school engagement and completion. This toolkit is also for District and Circuit officials who are helping schools to offer support and dropout prevention to learners. Similarly, it will help Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other stakeholders working with, and in, schools to understand how they can assist and what their roles should be.
