Autumn Activities Guide 2020

Page 1

Mayor’s Message The weather might be cooling down but the number of events happening in and around the city are certainly heating up during autumn. Following on from the success of last year’s week-long celebrations as part of International Women’s Day, Council has once again sought to work with a number of organisations to provide a broad range of events from 5 March which aim to celebrate and inspire women. One of the highlights will be the unveiling of the city’s 2020 Diamonds of Devonport, which will be held in the paranaple convention centre on Thursday, 12 March at 6 p.m. A panel of local women will share their journeys and insights on how to succeed in all aspects of life at a free ‘Each for Equal’ event on Tuesday, 10 March at 6 p.m. in the paranaple convention centre.

Melinda Schneider’s A Farewell to Doris, motorcycle legend “Biketruck” Billy Ward’s Iraq adventure and musical parody 50 Shades will be performed in the Town Hall Theatre while Harmony Day activities will also take place in Market Square.

This guide also outlines a range of other events and happenings during Autumn I encourage you all to take the opportunity to make the most of the season before the winter chills are upon us. Councillor Annette Rockliff, Mayor of Devonport
