letter from the EDITOR Welcome to Los Cabos! In the first few pages of Destino Magazine you can find useful information that will help you maximize your vacation such as activities, top beaches to visit, maps, important information, and even a Spanish lesson. I have very fond memories of my childhood in Cabo San Lucas. Everything was quite different back then, and the entertainment we had was much simpler. The only grocery store and pharmacy in town was Aramburo. The only paved road was the main one and we would ride everywhere in ATVs. I remember spending long summer days at Chileno or Santa Maria beach where we would be all day and didn't leave until the sun was setting. The beach had no walkway, no palapas or construction. Things have changed! Then Cabo started growing, and we got exciting things such as a Baskin Robins and laser tag. The Dairy Queen, still in the same location, also brought some excitement to the town. I feel very lucky that I can remember Cabo that way. Although my childhood experiences in Los Cabos were magical, it's nice to have some more options. Now you have a large amount of activities for families with children of all ages. Flip through the pages of this issue to get some ideas! Don't forget that you can find all of our useful information online at: www.DestinoLosCabos.com. des tinations - useful information - maps - top beaches - thing s to do

Los Cabos (the capes) is located in the southernmost tip of the State of Baja California Sur and consists of four main areas: Cabo San Lucas, San José del Cabo, Todos Santos and the East Cape. La Paz is the Capital of the state, however, technically it is not part of the municipality of Los Cabos. If you take a look at the Baja Sur map you can see that the highways and towns form a loop. The Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez meet at the very tip of the peninsula. It's very clear when you're on the Pacific side; the waves are much larger and powerful and the winds are stronger. If you go further north along the Pacific side the climate and beaches are very different than on the Sea of Cortez. It's usually a few degrees cooler, which is very pleasant during the warm summer months. In the Pescadero and Todos Santos area, the sand is dark and fine and the color of the water is deep blue. The sand in Sea of Cortez beaches is coarser and the water is a lighter tone of blue. The beaches in La Paz and the surrounding areas are possibly the most beautiful ones in Baja Sur. The white powdery sand and the waist-high water create a spectacular shade of turquoise, the kind you see in postcards. The mountains meet the desert, the desert meets the ocean. The Sierra de la Laguna is a mountain range that lies at the southern end of the peninsula. Above 800 meters in elevation dry forests transition to pine-oak forests. The main climate of the region is arid to semi-arid, however, there are very fertile areas where local farmers grow a variety of fruits and vegetables, especially on the Pacific side. The aquarium of the world. These are the words that Jacques Cousteau used to describe the Sea of Cortez. It is said that eons ago, back when the Earth and Continents were still taking their shape, the edge of Mexico split from the mainland to form the Gulf of California and the Baja Peninsula. This allowed the Pacific Ocean to rush into the gap and create the Sea of Cortez, or as some call it, Mother Nature’s own fish trap. Hundreds of varieties of fish and mammals found their way into this “trap” and either stayed in its warm shallow waters or ventured down into the cool bottom of the two mile-deep San Andreas Fault. For millenniums, the Colorado River has been dragging its rich minerals and nutrients into the Sea of Cortez, aiding the living species to thrive in these waters. In the months of January through March, Gray whales make their yearly migration from Alaska to give birth to their young in the shallow and warm waters of the Sea of Cortez.

Cabo San Lucas

This tourist friendly town, also just known as “Cabo,” is located on the tip of the Baja California peninsula and is full of entertainment for every age and liking. The Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean meet at Land’s End, where you can observe the beautiful rock formations and the famous Cabo arch. In Cabo San Lucas you can find Medano Beach, the liveliest beach in the Los Cabos area, an impressive marina and countless restaurants and bars that keep the town alive day and night.

San José del Cabo

Walking around downtown San José will allow you to experience a traditional Mexican town. You will find yourself surrounded by colorful buildings and quaint cobblestone streets that lead to the town’s picturesque zócalo (main plaza). Over the years, San José has become an artistic and cultural centre with numerous fine art galleries in its downtown art district as well as world-class restaurants. San José has a beautiful beach where you can take a horseback ride to explore the estuary that is home to many different bird species.

The Corridor

The corridor is the 40 km highway that connects Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo (about a 20 minute drive). Along this road you can find various hotels, luxury ocean front homes, championship golf courses and beautiful views. Have your camera ready and make a roadside stop at the Costa Azul view-point for photo opportunities and a refreshing coco frío (cold coconut).

Todos Santos

Located on the Pacific Ocean side of the peninsula, Todos Santos is an oasis where artists and surfers flock to enjoy the culture and excellent surf. Home to the famous Hotel California, this charming town offers great restaurants and a cooler climate than Cabo San Lucas and San José due to the breezes coming from the Pacific.

East Cape

People often call it “the old Cabo” because of its pristine beaches and small fishing towns such as Buena Vista and Los Barriles. The East Cape begins just east of San José and extends about 100 miles up the Sea of Cortez coast. Sixty miles outside of San José is the Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park, an eight fingered coral reef that offers outstanding snorkelling and scuba diving and turtle nesting on the beach. Very popular for fishing and surfing, the East Cape also attracts kite surfers, campers and folks who just want to get away from it all.

La Paz

La Paz is the capital of the state of Baja California Sur and is known for its warm people and beautiful beaches. This authentic Mexican city (as well as the general south Baja region) has been rated as one of the safest in Mexico and still maintains the small town feel that is very welcoming for tourists. La Paz is a departure point for tours and charters to the stunning Espiritu Santo Island as well as whale watching excursions. Stroll down the colorful malecón (boardwalk), walk hundreds of feet in waist high water at Balandra beach or have a fine dining experience; La Paz has a lot to offer.

Loreto

Loreto offers the best of both worlds for tourists who long to escape to an 'authentic-Mexico' with settings that take you back-in-time along with ocean activities that rival that of any other modern coastal city. In Loreto you'll find historic buildings such as the enchanting Mision de Loreto - a mission-style church that was built in 1697 as well as The Islands of Loreto which boasts Mexico's largest marine preserve where dolphins, seals, turtles and sea lions all play in the sea. For those who are partial to adventures on land; there is hiking, biking, and nature-tours that fill up a camera with pictures of radiant natural settings. Loreto is the perfect place for everyone from honeymooners to large families.

hike report

by Philipp Moser and Frankie Grant at Cabo Trek Tours www.cabotrek.com

When I told a friend I was going away for a few days for a hike he asked me:” where are you travelling this time?” I just answered:” I'm not going very far, Sierra de la Laguna is just around the corner!” Can you believe it? Cabo San Lucas, renowned beach, fishing, golfing, watersports and party destination also boasts a mountain waiting to be climbed? Indeed the Baja California Sur region is blessed with this mountain range, where the highest point called “El Picacho, reaches 6.857 feet (2.090 meter). Surprises don't end here: The southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, including the Sierra de la Laguna, was formerly an island in prehistoric times with endemic flora and fauna found only in the Sierra de la Laguna and surrounding region. In 1994, almost the same year as Cabo Pulmo became a recognized marine reserve, the UNESCO designated the Sierra de la Laguna as a global biosphere reserve: this semi arid to temperate subhumid climate area represents highly important and contrasted ecosystems not found elsewhere in Baja. Back to our trip: as the date of our adventure start came closer, the 4 of us: Darren, Manuel, Frankie, myself, as well as Marley my dog, were becoming very excited as we didn't really know what to expect. Even a google research will result in quite slim information on this area, so we started to prepare for every type of situation. The good news, we knew we were going to find water once we reached the valley at 5,600 ft, our home for the next four days. The plan consisted of a four day hike: 1st day going up till our base camp, 2nd day goal was to reach the top “El Picacho”, 3rd day refreshing at the waterfalls and 4th day hike down back to Todos Santos. I must admit that the hike was far more strenuous than expected, we all are around 30 years old and I would say, in good health conditions but we had to sweat to reach our first goal, Marley gave up before the final push towards the top and we had to carry him the remaining miles. We were very thankful to the mule for carrying the heaviest items up to base camp, leaving oursevles each with only small bags for food and water. Eight hours after leaving the desert floor, tired legs, sweat on

our brow and empty water bottles we reached our campsite, ready for a hot meal and a long nap. But is the effort to get up there really worth it? There's only one answer: YES. As your heart finally slows and your lungs are able to catch their breath, the feeling of success quickly sets in. Endemic cactus sheltered below pine trees and oaks filled with chirping birds highlight the unique landscape. Far away from the crowded streets Cabo San Lucas and La Paz, the horns of taxis have transformed into gently flowing streams and the distant city lights give way to countless stars in every direction. Although these stars can be seen much more freely from a hammock, this area is prone to late night showers, which will quickly have you running for the tent. It is a must to bring some weatherproofing supplies such as a tarp and rain jacket, as mountain-effect rain can come quite unexpectedly. The best time of the year is probably around November, right after the rainy season. During this time, waterfalls powerfully cut through the landscape and budding flowers abound, but April-May can also be an ideal time to hike into the Sierra, with moderate day time temperatures and cool nighttime lows. This was an adventure out of the ordinary, taking in account that this location is found in a place surrounded by ocean and desert. Consider this as an expedition into the wild and as such be prepared accordingly as there are no installations or amenities to be found along the road. *

Imagine floating in a turquoise bay with pink sand or riding some epic waves, each beach offers something unique. Here is a list of the must-see beaches to help you decide which one is for you or just visit them all!

Cabo San Lucas Along the Corridor If you’re looking for the action, here it is. El Médano (as the locals call it) is a 2-mile stretch of hotels, restaurants and bars, right on the sand. It’s a swimmable and family-friendly beach with endless options for souvenir shopping. Numerous activities and water sports are available. If you want to take a water taxi to Lover’s Beach, this is the best spot to do it. Its stunning view of Land’s End and the vast entertainment options make this beach a must-see.

LAS VIUDAS

Las Viudas (The Widows) beach is not visible from the road and is possibly the most private beach you will find on this list. What makes it unique are the rock formations that create small pools and coves where you can have a private and peaceful beach day. This beach is swimmable with caution, but if you find your own pool you can avoid the waves. Location: Turn right at Km. 12.5 of the corridor and follow the dirt road down to the beach. There is a sign that reads “Las Viudas” but keep your eyes peeled; the entrance sneaks up on you. Tips: You won’t find any services or vendors so bring all your beach essentials with you.

tional Marine Preserve offers. This family-friendly beach is relatively secluded; therefore, you rarely run into beach vendors. Location: Travelling west from Cabo San Lucas towards San José, follow the sign which reads “Santa María” and exit the highway at Km. 13. Follow the dirt road until you reach the parking area. Tips: Swim from the shore towards the rocks on the right side of the beach for a great snorkeling experience. Santa Maria has brand new bathrooms and palapas.

San Jose del Cabo PALMILLA

CHILENO

Location: In the heart of downtown Cabo San Lucas. The beach is accessible by foot through the east side of the marina or via Avenida del Pescador. Tips: Be prepared to be approached by souvenir vendors. If you’re not there for the shopping, just respond with “No, gracias.” Prices don’t vary much from one water sports rental place to another. Visit Lover’s Beach while you’re there.

LOVER’S BEACH

Getting there is an adventure in itself, due to the fact that it is reachable only by boat or kayak. The easiest way is to take a water taxi from the Cabo San Lucas Marina or Medano Beach. Prices are around $15.00 USD per person. Ask your captain to cruise by the arch and the sea lion rock for some great photo opportunities. Once you arrive, you’ll notice the striking rock formations and caves. Walk to the other side of the rocks and you’ll find yourself looking at the Pacific Ocean; the locals call this Divorce Beach. This side is very dangerous for swimming because of the powerful undertow, so swim on Lover’s Beach only. Location: Land’s End beside the famous arch. This beach is accessible only by boat. Tips: There are a couple of vendors who offer beer and water, but you won’t find any other services. A good idea is to spend the day at Medano Beach and take an hour or two to go to Lover’s Beach; this should be time enough to explore this natural wonderland.

10

www.DestinoLosCabos.com

Chileno is a very popular location for snorkelling, swimming or just spending the day under the newlyinstalled palapas. You’ll find tide pools at the east end of the beach and beautiful reefs offering excellent snorkelling and scuba diving. This is the only beach with public restrooms and it has plenty of palapas for shade. Location: Going from Cabo San Lucas towards San José, follow the signs for Chileno Beach Club near Km. 14 of the main highway. Tips: If you visit Chileno on a weekend, make an effort to arrive early; snorkelling visibility is often better in the mornings, you’ll avoid the mid-day snorkel tours and, if you beat the crowds, you’ll be guaranteed a palapa to yourself for much-needed shade. Bring snorkelling gear!

SANTA MARIA

Santa Maria offers a stunning horseshoe cove with coarse coral-colored sand and abundant marine life. Boat excursions and private charters often stop here to enjoy the snorkelling and scuba diving that this Na-

Palmilla beach is known for its family-friendly calm waters and a mile-long stretch of beach. Located within the resort community of Palmilla, you will find yourself surrounded by oceanfront luxury homes, the One&Only Hotel and the world renowned Jack Nicklaus Ocean Nine golf course. Pangas and fishing cruisers are available for charter, but you won’t find water sport rentals such as kayaks or jet skis. Location: Take the Palmilla ramp exit at Km. 27. Follow the signs and turn into the main beach parking area before the entrance to the One&Only Hotel. Tips: Palmilla is popular among local families on the weekends, so arrive early if you want a palapa, or bring your own umbrella. No services are available here.

COSTA AZUL

If what you’re looking for is a good surf spot you can find it here without driving out of town. Head over to Zipper’s for a surf session and lunch and beers at the restaurant. To the west of Zippers is Acapulquito beach where the Cabo Surf Hotel and Mike Doyle Surf School are located. You can find

BAJA 101 surf shops in the area where you can rent surf and stand-up paddle boards and set up lessons. The surf is bigger during the summer, and in the winter this is a good spot for snorkelling and swimming. Location: Exit into the arroyo at Km. 28 via the Costa Azul Bridge. Tips: Swimming with caution is possible in this area but keep an eye out for surfers.

away. You can walk back and forth in the bay in waist high water that is crystal clear with shades of blue turquoise. Follow the shore towards the north-east side and you will find the famous “mushroom rock” as well as other interesting rock formations. Pictures just don’t do it justice. You won’t regret visiting Playa Balandra! Location: About 30 minutes from the boardwalk in La Paz. Simply follow the main drag along the boardwalk, then through Costa Baja Golf Course and continue to wind around the coast and through the mountains until you see the signs for the beach.

LA PLAYITA

La Playita (the little beach) is a long stretch of beach where you will often find locals fishing from the shore and families with children enjoying the beach-front playground. On the right end of La Playita you can find a roped-off swimming area just outside the entrance to the beautiful Puerto Los Cabos 500-slip marina. To the left is the natural open beach where you can swim, skim-board and enjoy a peaceful beach day away from the crowds. Location: Follow the signs to La Playita/Puerto Los Cabos from Boulevard Mijares in downtown San José del Cabo (across from the fire department). Tips: You will find new and wellmaintained bathrooms, palapas and fishing charters. There are no food services directly on the beach, but several casual restaurants in the surrounding area.

On the Pacific CERRITOS

Cerritos beach is a popular surf spot and swimming here is relatively safe. The scenic 45-minute drive from Cabo San Lucas is well worth the trip as you drive along the pristine Pacific coast. The Cerritos Beach Club Restaurant is a perfect spot to spend a relaxing day, maybe even get a massage on the beach. If you want to be active, you can take a surf lesson at Baja Surf Camp or rent surf and boogie boards at the Costa Azul Surf Shop. Location: Exit at Km. 66 of the Cabo San Lucas to Todos Santos Highway. Watch the markers and look for the signs. Drive about 1.7 miles to the beach area. Tips: Lounge chairs, restrooms, food and drinks are available at The Cerritos Beach Club Restaurant. The ocean currents are strong and the waves can be quite powerful on a big day, so swim with caution.

Tips: No bathroom facilities. There is a truck where you can buy water and snacks, but it is recommended to bring your own in case they are closed. There are palapas, but not a lot. You can rent kayaks and snorkel gear.

Loreto

ISLA CORONADO

A wildlife reserve where visitors may anchor, snorkel, scuba and camp. The panga ride usually includes a cruise around the island where it’s very common to see sea lions, seals and even sea otters. The only swimmable beach on the island has pristine white sand and shallow crystal clear turquoise water, which creates ideal snorkelling conditions. Coronado Island is the ideal place for an adventure or to simply immerse yourself in nature and relax. Location: About 7 miles or 30 minutes (on boat) northeast of Loreto. Tips: To get to Coronado Island you must take a boat or a panga. You will find pangas in Loreto’s Marina that you can hire to take you. The best option is to ask your concierge to arrange this for you. There are no services or restaurants on the beach. There are several large palapas with tables and benches and also an ecorestroom. Bring hiking shoes if you plan to explore the area. Bring Snorkelling gear!

FISHING REPORT

All that’s fishy from Land's End to La Paz by Gary Graham

Fishing in Los Cabos this season has been like the Indy 500 -- lots of green flags followed by yellow cautions. However, recently the green flag is definitely flying! The billfish that have been a tease at best all spring have now come into their own, as fleet boats report counts as high as 20 striped marlin and sailfish for their anglers in a two-day weekend. “Fishing is off the charts and we have plenty of happy anglers and crews. Every single boat out this past week caught fish, quite an achievement by any standard! There has been a steady stream of marlin catches throughout the week plus a good mix of other species.” …Tracy Ehrenberg, Pisces Sportfishing. The football-size yellowfin tuna have recently been joined by some of their larger cousins, including one monster weighing more than 225 pounds that took over two and one half hours to land. Dorado that were scarcer than virgin margaritas all season have suddenly reappeared -- lots of smallish ones with enough larger ones to make it interesting. The dorado were joined by the wahoo that never left, hanging out both inshore as well as in open water. While most are in the 20to 50-pound range, there have been a few huge ones in the high 80-pound range. Not to be ignored is the extraordinary roosterfish, jacks, sierra mackerel and skipjack being caught a few miles offshore with the sprawling hotels onshore creating a unique backdrop. Farther up into the Sea of Cortez, the story is similar with a few walk ons -- blue marlin that have begun arriving not too far off the coast of the East Cape area for the summer tournaments. Anglers are also enjoying some productive inshore action for small dorado and roosterfish from the water and the beach. Plus there is a continued wahoo bite for a few lucky anglers. If a “bucket list” is your thing, up at Los Arenas and La Paz the locals have managed to score on a remarkable list of different varieties: striped marlin, pargo, some dog-tooth up to 20 pounds, yellow snapper, white bonito, yellowfin tuna, yellowtail, cabrilla, amberjack, barred pargo, jack crevalle, dorado, roosterfish, wahoo, rainbow runners, pompano… and SHARKS! Lots of sharks! Talk about walk ons: Hammerheads…blues… thresher…lemon…mako…reef… Some of them were 200- to 300-pounders! It’s a rarity to have such a diversified list to chose from. Before you get cold feet about having a toothy critter in your boat, they are all released . . . This should be a memorable month for seasoned anglers as well as for beginners. Go catch something! Not to be ignored is the extraordinary roosterfish, jacks, sierra mackerel and skipjack being caught a few miles offshore with the sprawling hotels onshore creating a unique backdrop.

BOATING & FISHING

With calm waters, extraordinary fishing and perfect weather, some may argue that boating is the most popular attraction in Los Cabos. Whether you want to take a cruise to Santa María Bay on a luxury yacht or wake up at the crack of dawn for a fishing adventure, there are endless options to fit your needs.

BOAT RENTALS Private yachts and sailboats There are several charter companies that can accommodate your needs. What you do on your trip is really up to you, but it will typically consist of a tour of the landmark arch, a few hours of fishing, and a cruise to one of our beautiful bays for a swim. Most boats have fishing equipment and a knowledgeable crew, but the biggest difference between a yacht and a fishing boat rental is the cost.

similar to Marina Cabo San Lucas, though the boatyard’s 150-ton travel lift can accommodate larger vessels.

Fishing Boat Rentals You can always fish on a yacht, but cruisers, pangas and super-pangas are a more affordable option. Cruisers accommodate larger groups and are more comfortable when the sea is rough on a windy day.

What to Expect Most charters include a fishing license, bait, tackle and equipment. Some also include food and drink or these amenities can be added at an additional cost. It is better to leave early; trips usually begin at 6:00 and 7:00 am and last around 6 hours. Cost will depend on the number of people in your party and the size of the boat you choose to rent. It is customary to leave the crew a gratuity of 15% to 20%.

THE MARINAS Marina Cabo San Lucas The area’s largest commercial marina features 380 slips and accommodates vessels of up to 375 feet. Amenities include 24-hour security, electricity and potable water, a fuel dock, and convenient laundry and shower facilities. Puerto Los Cabos Located in La Playita just north of San José del Cabo is the newest marina in the area with 200 available slips for boats up to 400 feet. Amenities are 12

FISHING There’s a reason why the world’s richest fishing tournament - the Bisbee’s Black & Blue - has taken place in Los Cabos for over thirty years. This part of the world offers abundant sea life and an exceptionally high catch success rate, no matter what your level of fishing experience is.

Bait and Tackle Most likely, the boat you charter will include your bait and tackle. If you need your own fresh bait, you may buy it along the Cabo San Lucas Marina or the crew you hire may also stop to buy it from the local fishermen on your way out.

SNORKELLING & SCUBA DIVING

Prepare yourself for an incredible show of nature as you swim side by side with colourful schools of fish, eels, rays, octopus, sea turtles and more. The Sea of Cortez or the “Aquarium of the World” offers many opportunities to experience incredible underwater wildlife.

SCUBA DIVING DESTINATIONS Note: travel time is from the Cabo San Lucas marina. Land’s End Intermediate-Advanced - 50’-60’ Five minutes by boat and you can share the water with sea lions and moray eels, with a sunken boat visible in the Falls. Sand Falls Beginners - Advanced - 30’-100’ Steep sand banks drop sharply into a canyon filled with tropical fish. The canyon runs from the depths of the Cabo San Lucas bay to within 30 feet of the beach. Pelican Rock Beginners - 25’-80’ This large rock attracts many tropical fish and is only five minutes from shore. Neptune’s Finger Advanced - 80’-100’ A spectacular canyon wall dive. Cabeza de Ballena Beginners - 20’-40’ A 25-minute boat ride leads to a dive through large boulders with many fish. Santa María Cave Beginners - 20’-40’ Reachable from the shore or a 35-minute boat ride, the entrance to Santa Maria canyon has a huge variety of fish which feed right from your hand. Chileno Beginners - 30’-70’ This location offers parking, sea turtle sightings, tropical fish, and night dives over a sandy and rocky bottom following a 35-minute boat ride. El Gavilán Intermediate/Advanced - 70’-100’ This rocky ledge leads into a canyon where groupers and larger fish are often sighted; 35 minutes by boat. Blow Hole Beginners/Advanced - 30’-70’ 35-minutes from San Lucas, or just 10

minutes from Chileno beach, this dive offers rocky valleys presenting a variety of fish. Las Salinas Beginners - 30’-45’ - A sunken Japanese fishing boat attracts a large assortment of fish at this beginners’ dive; about 80 minutes from Cabo San Lucas or one hour from La Playita. Gordo Banks Advanced - 110’-120’ - A seamount provides views of marlin, hammerheads, skip jacks and at times huge manta rays; one hour from La Playita. Cabo Pulmo Beginner-Advanced - 30’-100’ A one hour drive east of San José or five minutes by boat and you’ll find the only living coral reef in the Sea of Cortez. SNORKELLING SPOTS Cabo offers several methods for snorkelling. You may drive to a local beach and swim out, book a tour with one of the many popular companies, or charter a private boat. Tours are typically two or three hours. Stay away from the Pacific side of the peninsula; its strong currents make it very dangerous for any kind of water sports. Pelican Rock

A quick five-minute ride from the Cabo San Lucas marina or Medano Beach is all it takes to get to this fish-attracting rock.

Lover’s Beach This popular and uniquely-named beach is accessible only by boat. Be on the look-out, however, as the water is not roped off for swimmers. Santa Maria Bay Snorkel tours regularly visit Santa Maria Bay. If you choose to drive there, it’s an easy swim from the shore to the reef on the right side of the cove. Chileno Bay Snorkelers will find a safe, roped-off area for swimming at this common tour destination. Cabo Pulmo A Natural Marine Reserve in the East Cape, and may offer the best snorkelling in the area. This eightfingered coral reef is about a 2-hour drive from San José del Cabo, but it is well worth it!

GOLFING

With the desert meeting the Sea of Cortez as a backdrop, there is no doubt why Los Cabos has become a championship golf destination over the years. From Tiger Woods to Nicklaus and Fazio, many of the big names in golf have designed courses on this unique landscape. CABO REAL The newly renovated Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed golf course is one of the Corridor’s first championship courses and boasts beautiful views of the Sea of Cortez, elevation changes, and has hosted two PGA Senior Slams. 18 holes, Par 73, 7,461 yards. (624) 173-9400 www.questrogolf.com Many courses offer a reduced rate later in the day during twilight hours. Appropriate golf attire is required on all courses and club rental prices range from $35 to $ 65. CABO DEL SOL Ocean Course - A Jack Nicklaus signature course with six ocean front holes (1.5 miles). Users are connected to the board by wakeboard boots, under which, water pressure provides thrust. A certified trainer controls the power and height and you control all the movement. Available at Medano beach or in the Puerto Los Cabos Marina in San José del Cabo.

STAND UP PADDLING

There is something special about paddling out and finding yourself floating in the ocean with just a paddle and a board. Stand up paddling is a great way to see marine life and to get a great workout and while enjoying nature. At Medano beach you can rent boards in several locations. Certain companies offer paddling lessons and some have yoga classes on the board.

KITE SURFING

This sport is most popular in the East Cape due to the El Norte winds. Playa Norte (the north-east side of the beach) in Los Barriles is said to be the most popular destination and is also the location for a professional kite-boarding school. La Ventana is also a popular spot and is closer to La Paz. There is less wind in Los Barriles than in La Ventana, but the surf is bigger. The best months are January, February, March, October, November, December. Every January, the Lord of the Wind tournament takes place in Los Barriles. 14

ACTIVITIES FOR FAMILIES Photo courtesy Wild Canyon

Adventure Parks There are several adventure parks in Los Cabos where you and your kids can experience zip-lining, backcountry ATV tours, a camel safari, and more. Zip-lines are appropriate for kids of 8 years and up and be prepared to hike from 5 to 15 minutes from line to line. Most companies include transportation. Parasailing If heights over land are not right for you, try a parasailing trip and gain some altitude to enjoy beautiful views of Cabo while tethered firmly to a speedboat!

Buggy, Atv, Or Bike Rentals There are several local companies which offer ATVs, buggies, and other off-road vehicles for trail and beach cruising. Strap on some goggles and hop behind the wheel of one of these off-road racers for an afternoon of fast-paced fun! Vehicles include typical ATVs or enclosed rail buggies or RZR ATVs. Tours are typically three hours, and drivers must be 16 years of age with a valid drivers’ license. If pedal-powered rides are more your speed, look into renting a mountain bike, beach cruiser, or joining a guided bicycle tour of town. Just make sure to wear a helmet! Horseback Rides, Nature Walks, and Bird Watching Los Cabos (particularly San José del Cabo) offers a number of horseback excursions for all ages. Saddle up for a sunset guided beach ride, venture up a hidden canyon trail, or just sit back in the shade while experienced horse trainers give the kids lessons in horsemanship – there’s something for everyone! San José also boasts a natural estuary and nature preserve. Enjoy a peaceful, self-guided nature walk to observe some of the lushest landscape in the area. Species of flora and fauna are abundant: dozens of species of cactus, lizards, and birds can be spotted on this solitary walk, just a few minutes from downtown. Cactus-lovers may also want to check out the nearby cactus gardens Wirikuta, offering a large variety of cacti laid out in an artful outdoor setting.

Wet Fun Water Park Located about 20 minutes from San José, this water park has shallow pools and small slides for young children, water mushrooms, a pirate ship and a giant bucket that dumps water on the bystanders bellow. For the adrenaline seekers, several fast and large slides stand tall and mighty and offer a great view of the beautiful surrounding mountains. To get there take HWY 1 north from the San José International Airport towards La Paz and East Cape. After about 15 miles, the exit for Caudaño and the water park will be at km 66. Follow this road for a few minutes and you will find the park on your right. Turtle Release Every year, several species of endangered sea turtles nest in the warm sands of Los Cabos. Your family will have the opportunity to help these fragile and tiny creatures make it safely into the sea. Children will learn about the importance of conservation and they will surely enjoy the experience of helping these little friends. Sol de Mayo Waterfall Cascade Located about an hour and a half away from Los Cabos, the Sol de Mayo Oasis is yet another natural beauty of the Southern Baja California region. The hike leads the adventurous to a majestically beautiful oasis where everyone can swim and even dive into the cool, serene waters. Be sure to pack a lunch, and take plenty of water. There are plenty of signs to guide everyone to this wonderful piece of paradise. After arriving in Santiago, turn right up the little hill towards the town square. The cost is $6 US per person to access the easy hike to the clear-water falls. Everything you need to know about Baja Sur

CURRENCY EXCHANGE Dollars are accepted almost everywhere and you will get your change in pesos. The exchange rate varies every day, but some places have a set rate.

ATMs - The easiest way to get pesos is to simply withdraw money from an ATM in Los Cabos. Bank ATMs give the daily exchange rate (best possible rate). Examples include Banorte, Bancomer, Santander, Banamex, and HSBC. Non-bank ATMs located in the street will charge higher fees. Some ATMs only give you dollars, some only pesos and some give you the option to withdraw both. Pay close attention to what currency you’re withdrawing and try to get as much cash as possible in one transaction to avoid paying high fees.

CASH OR CARD? Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit cards are generally accepted, but you often run into cash only places. Always ask beforehand and carry cash. Your bank will most likely charge you international transaction fees if you pay with your card.

GROCERIES - In Cabo San Lucas, Wal-Mart and Costco are good options and easy to get to. You can always find a taxi outside of these stores. San José has a Wal-Mart and Mega. If you just need to grab something quickly, OXXO stores are small, reasonably priced convenient stores located all over town.

HOW DO I DIAL? The local area code is 624 To dial to other countries: 00 + country code (1, 2 or 3 digits) + number From a Mexican land line or cell phone: To a Mexican long distance number: 01 + 3 digit area code + 7 digit number To a Mexican cell phone number: 3 digit area code + 7 digit number To a U.S. phone number: 00 + 1 + 3 digit area code + 7 digit number From your U.S. cell phone: To a Mexican land line or cell phone: 011 52 + 3 digit area code + number To a U.S. phone number: 00 + 1 + 3 digit area code + number Some U.S. cell phone carriers have arrangements with Mexican carriers and when you travel here your cell phone uses their towers. If this is your case, you will have to dial as if you had a Mexican phone. U.S. TOLL FREE NUMBERS (International rates will apply): To a 1 (800): 00 + 1 + 880 + phone number To a 1 (888): 00 + 1 + 881 + phone number To a 1 (877): 00 + 1 + 882 + phone number To a 1 (866): 00 + 1 + 883 + phone number DRIVING Renting a car will allow you to enjoy the freedom of exploring Los Cabos. Driving in Mexico might be intimidating, but if you just go with the muddled flow, you will realize that there is some organization within the chaos. If you are pulled over by local police for committing a driving infraction, the standard procedure is for them to take your Driver’s License. You will then have to go to the Police Station to pay your ticket and pick-up your license. There are two types of gasoline: Magna, which is regular, and Premium. Lleno (pronounced ye-no) means full. Major credit cards are accepted. Tipping the gas station attendant around $10.00 pesos is customary. There is a toll road that takes you from the airport to Cabo San Lucas or to the Todos Santos highway. By taking this road you avoid the taxi and shuttle traffic on the main highway. The cost varies from $63.00 to $75.00 pesos, depending on your destination. ALTO STOP

Surf lessons for everyone

Los Cabos is a surf town. Children, young and old, want to surf. If you need a reason to surf, we can give you many. Los Cabos beaches invite professionals and beginners just the same. Lessons are offered by many sport companies and services abound. Surfing is for everyone. What to expect when you are learning how to surf? The best way to live an adventure, is to not have any expectations. Listen, ask questions, it does no matter if they sound simple and obvious, to you this is your first time and asking questions is how you build confidence when dealing with the unknown. If you want to successfully surf a wave, your mind must be at ease. Once your mind is empty of doubts, then go through the motion of what the body needs to know when surfing. That means practicing in land what you will be doing in the ocean. This will allow your body to catch up with what your mind has understood so far. Once your mind and body are in sync, and the knowledge you received from the expert becomes a natural flow, you are ready to go in. It is customary for the instructor to choose your first wave (and the next one, until you get it) and explain to you the qualities you are looking for while deciding which wave to ride. They will then help ride it...they literally give you a little push and get you on the wave. Just go through the motions you already practiced, keep your mind at ease, and feel it. Costa Azul Surf Shop (624) 142-2771 www.costa-azul.com.mx can arrange a surf excursion to Cerritos Beach or if you're in San JosĂŠ or Cabo San Lucas you can stay local and head to Zippers beach or Mike Doyle Surf School (624) 172-6188 at Cabo Surf Hotel, located only minutes away from three surf spots ranging from beginners to pros. Get to know the ocean. The best lessons are learned through your own experience. Find out the basics by taking a class, and enjoy a surfing day with a surfer you trust. *

Pirate Cruise

The Cabo Legend is a 100 ft twin masted brig wooden sailing ship with plenty of deck space to eat, drink and be merry. The ship has an area with limited seating for those looking to escape the sun, and the deck is where all guests enjoy the salty air and keep watch for pirates. The Buccaneer Queen was built in 1968, born as an exact dummy of an ancient galleon that sailed many years ago. It has also served as a stage for many commercial spots and in 1995 it was in the movie “Cutthroat island." Go cruise along the famous Cabo San Lucas Arch, Lovers Beach, visit Chileno Bay and the coral reefs and fall in love with the marvelous sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Meet the Locals at Ciclovia

If you're looking for a fun morning event that won't break your wallet, check out Ciclovia, now entering its seventh year. Cross the longest wooden pedestrian and ATV hanging bridge in the world at Wild Canyon!

Visit Playa Las Viudas

While El Medano, Playa del Amor, Santa Maria and Chileno get the raves and many visitors, kids love the tidal pools and stunning rock formations at secluded Las Viudas. While it's not a swimming beach per se and has no services, it's ideal for spending a morning exploring the teeming shore life and hanging out in the pools. Bring shade, towels, water, snacks and sunscreen. The public entrance is well signed and accessible from either side of the highway near Km. 12. Enjoy!

Cross the Longest Hanging Bridge in the World on an Off-road Runner

The Los Cabos Canyon Bridge is the longest wooden pedestrian and ATV hanging bridge in the world that can be called without doubt an engineering wonder. The bridge is 1,082.67 feet long, 6.56 feet wide and it stands at 164.04 feet above ground in its lowest point. It was built in approximately two years with Mexican technology exclusively, developed in collaboration with MAM Geotecnia (Mexicana de Anclas Mineras). Its #5, 2″ Swedish steel cables allows the Los Cabos Canyon Bridge to hold up to 300 people or 50 ATV’s simultaneously. As you cross the bridge you can watch the brave bungee jumpers, the Sling Swing as it falls and the riders on the longest zip-line, which

passes just 3 feet away! The Off-road Runners tour is comprised of 5 different areas within the 100 hectares covered by the park: Ocean view, Brook, Beach, Canyon and Mountain. By experiencing these different types of terrain, you’ll get a good idea of what Baja off-roading is all about. Wild Canyon » www.wildcanyon.com.mx » (624) 144-4433

Sunsets and Stargazing

The town lights of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo make stargazing less stellar than Pacific Side or East Cape beaches. For spectacular sunsets and stargazing, head out to Playa Migriño, about 30 minutes from San Lucas on the Pacific Side. Once close to your destination you'll descend down a steep hill and then bank to the right with the bridge in the near distance and Migriño on your left. Exit on either side of the bridge where you'll see dirt roads leading to the beach. Drive in, pick your spot, and prepare to be enthralled with the stunning sunset and an umbrella of stars once twilight arrives. Take a flashlight, drinks, snacks and enjoy an unforgettable and peaceful experience. It's golfina sea turtle nesting time so don't be surprised to see patrols out or turtle tracks, too.

Family Friendly Eating

in Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo

by Chef Tadd Chapman

SAN JOSÉ DEL CABO

GALLERY DISTRICT

With clean, swimmable beaches, water sports and adventure trips, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo can be perfect choices while planning a family vacation. However when it comes time to choose a restaurant, it can be difficult to navigate through the night-club settings or adult themed performances to find a more child friendly atmosphere. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite family friendly restaurants to make dining with the kids a bit easier. ComicX This Superhero themed restaurant is right on the Cabo San Lucas Marina, directly behind Puerto Paraiso, and is a great pick for families. The menu is truly kid friendly with their variety of burgers, sandwiches and pizzas. The atmosphere and food from the restaurant is similar to what you would expect to find in a Planet Hollywood or Hard Rock Café. Your kids will enjoy the break from Mexican food, and you’ll enjoy the view of the boats coming to dock. SEÑOR SWEETS Also located on the Marina, Señor Sweets is the perfect treat for you and the kids. Staying true to the name the restaurant offers a wide variety of sweet desserts along with a number of Gelato options. In addition to dessert, the restaurant offers appetizers as well as main course options. THE OFFICE The Office has become an institution here in Cabo with their perfect location directly on Medano Beach. While you will find several other restaurants on the beach The Office is one of the few that offer “PG” entertainment, and attract less of a spring break crowd. The office is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the kids will love playing in the sand while waiting for the food to arrive. The table placement makes it easy to keep in eye on your children while enjoying a mimosa and a view of the arches. RETRO BURGER BAR If you find yourself in San Jose del Cabo, Retro Burger Bar is a fun and low maintenance stop for the whole family. Known for their delicious burgers, Retro has a fun atmosphere that’s perfect for sport’s fan and families. With a daily drink and meal special the food this option is both delicious and economical. The restaurant is located directly down town so you can enjoy a bit of shopping to help burn off that burger. FLORA FARMS Also located in San Jose del Cabo is Flora Farms. While it may be a bit of a drive, Flora Farms is a wonderful choice for children due to their out door space. The restaurant has at least half a dozen rescue dogs that love to come and interact with patrons, as well as a its own pond and playground. The food is also a favorite among adults, as the farm features it’s own organic produce store. *

Baja's Wild Side

HIDDEN GEMS:

by Alex Navarro – Eco-tourism expert

Scorpion Bay, located in the small town of San Juanico, is popular for its minute-long ride and is known to have some of the best surf in all of Mexico. This town is still a typical sleepy fishing village of Baja, but when the south swells arrive, surfers flock from all over Baja and California. There are only a couple of small hotels in San Juanico, and camping on the bay is very popular. The Scorpion Bay Cantina is the most popular campsite and restaurant; it’s right on the point and provides restrooms, showers and wireless Internet access. There are a few restaurants and grocery stores in town but no banks, so it is recommended to bring pesos. The closest airport is in Loreto (LTO) where you can fly into from LAX or you can drive down the Baja as a "right of passage." San Juanico is northwest from Loreto; the drive is easy and the road is in good conditions.

The Bay has four main points that break to the right. What makes the surf break so unique is the way the points face to the southeast, allowing it to only pick up south swells. Overall the bottom is sandy, but the third and fourth points have numerous lava rocks. This allows for steady offshore winds to perfectly shape the waves and generate the famous rides that can last well over a minute. The ride is so long that surfers are often picked up by ATVs that return them to the start. Because each point is so unique, you can find waves for any surfing level. The first point is a perfect spot for beginners because it provides the shortest, smallest, and slowest waves. The second point is the most consistent wave, and therefore the most popular. This is the wave that most Scorpion Bay goers travel for. The third point is for more advanced levels because it can get fast and hollow. When the swell is big enough, it has been said that the third and second points connect, creating a ride of 3 minutes long. It sounds like a wave that surfers would dream about, doesn't it? * Photos: dblanco Photography

This includes several physical improvements to the property and the implementation of new service standards and a new service-oriented philosophy under the supervision of Alfonso Murillo, the resort’s very experienced manager. Each villa is equipped with custom-made furniture, a full kitchen or kitchenette, and a private patio that offers magnificent views of the mountains, ocean, and ]18-hole Country Club Golf Course, where guests can play at a preferred rate. Los Cabos Golf Resort is also blessed with a gorgeous garden area, where events for up to 500 guests can be held. Let yourself be stunned by the beautifully manicured garden! The resort also has a spa, fitness area, two-level pool, pool bar, and unique architecture with a Mexican flare, creating an oasis with a perfect combination between the desert and the ocean. THE CONNECTION

BETWEEN OUR FAMILIES

AND OUR FITNESS

From The Training Team at Moduvated

Many of us at Moduvated believe that our love of health and our good fitness habits were inspired and learned from our parents. For example, one member of our team had a problem with obesity when she was a child. She suffered from low self-esteem and her school mates were cruel to her, as children can be. Her mother, an aerobics instructor of very humble financial circumstances, saw the problem developing and scraped together the money to pay for a personal trainer to help her daughter and the rest is Moduvated history! Our co-worker now enjoys great health, a physique as beautiful as her face and soul and a career in fitness that she truly loves, helping young people get fit and stay active. Her mother created a true fitness guru, what a supersuccess story! The eating and exercise habits we teach our children will stay with them for a lifetime. Inactive and overweight children have a lifelong battle with health ahead of them. Most overweight children will become overweight adults and will have trouble with their health. Activity is just as addictive as fruit loops, coca cola and pop tarts. But you need to start kids early on the path to good health.

Moduvated Kids Camp 2016 The bilingual ModuVated Kids camp was designed to deliver an unforgettable summer camp experience to the children and families of Los Cabos The camp incorporates physical activities with group exercises, all designed to teach the kids the importance of leadership, teamwork, giving back to the community and healthy eating habits. The Moduvated team consists of professional coaches and instructors who set the bar high in their fields of education and sport specific training. IMAGINE

you live here by Dane Posey

There were a number of years, the old-timers tell me, that the idea of a home in Cabo was a tough sell. It's difficult to imagine that at a point in history unsubstantiated concerns over Safety and long term viability outweighed the perfect weather, miles of beaches and no-worry lifestyle the area provides. Fortunately those days are over. The question of “Where” has been replaced by “How?” The folks that call my number are considering whether they prefer purchasing a condo, a new or previously-loved home, or building their own dream. Camp Condominium has a large number of supporters. Options range from boutique buildings of only a few units to large scale communities with a laundry list of amenities. I've had more than a few meetings where a group of friends were considering purchasing all of the units in a small development to turn it into their own private Melrose Place South. The benefits of a Cabo condo owner are vast. Locking up and leaving without the worry of security, maintenance, or watering the plants is worth far more to them than the price of monthly dues. Those seeking a new or previously loved home are attracted by the spaciousness and privacy these properties typically provide. It's not uncommon to find these homes also located in communities that share costs via an administrator and HOA as well. Gated communities and those with upscale amenities and golf or beach clubs provide incredible value for the home buyer. The additional meters allow for customizations like outdoor kitchens, wood burning fire pits, and pools that you only have to share with people that you've personally invited. Many clients didn't move 1000 miles from the US border so they could live in a neighborhood they would mistake for Irvine, CA when the sun sets. The true beauty of buying a re-sale in a non-HOA neighborhood is that often you are buying into a neighborhood in which your neighbors are as passionate about the Baja as you are. You have the freedom to live on your own accord. Always dreamt of a home with a purple front door like one of my first clients? Paint your door purple. They call Los Cabos the “Malibu of Mexico” and I've had a few clients lament that they should have bought earlier because they have been priced out of the market when looking for a home that meets all of their requirements. My answer? Build. The recent trend in our market has been taking advantage of Sellers that purchased land with the intention to build but never went through with it for whatever reason. Lots can be had and quality labor is cheap. Like any investment due diligence is of importance but if you've always had an idea of your ultimate getaway, it can be built here for less than you may think. * Dane Posey is an MLS AMPI Realtor with REmexico Real Estate Group. T HE BE ACH HOUSE: Indigo by Magdalena Misiorowski

Indigo is a deep and rich shade of blue often overlooked in beach house design in favor of its “happy-go-lucky” cousin, turquoise. It is a sophisticated blue hue with a dash of violet. On a psychological level indigo gives us a sense of harmony and wonder. It is the color of the mind, affecting us mentally. It represents inner contemplation and selfreflection, making it a perfect choice for a meditation room. Indigo pairs beautifully natural and neutral textures such as wool, linen, hemp, sisal, all natural woods, and concrete. All shades of sand, washed out beige, straw, or simple white will work wonders when paired with indigo. Dress your windows in white linens, opting out of sheers. I recommend that you do not iron your linens, leaving them feel natural and crinkly. This will add another organic layer of texture without much effort on your side. If you are drawn to sophisticated spaces, choose dark woods and perhaps skip sisal rugs in favor of a shimmery bamboo fiber rug. They are luxurious to the touch and magically shimmer when the light meets their surface. In general, remember to start small if this is your first time trying out how indigo will work in your space. Perhaps start with indigo throw pillows, a small area rug, or just a cluster of accessories? Lastly, I invite you to add an oversized plant to a lonely corner of that room. A tall cactus in a white ceramic planter will look fantastic in a Cabo beach house. I invite you to choose indigo and find your way to inner calm. *

LOS CABOS REAL ESTATE

AT A GLANCE

Sales Volume up 21% vs 2015 List Price vs Sales Price down 2% vs 2015

MARKET UPDATE By Blake Harrington

About Blake: Managing Partner of REmexico Real Estate/CaboRealEstate.com and has sold over $40,000,000 in Baja real estate since 2013. From 2014-2015 Blake was featured in two episodes of HGTV’s House Hunters International. REmexico Real Estate has two offices in Los Cabos, one in Cabo San Lucas in Plaza Bonita and another in San Jose del Cabo’s Art District. You can reach Blake at Blake@CaboRealEstate.com.

There’s no doubt that over the last 7 years, the Los Cabos area has been thrown some curve-balls that greatly affected our real estate market. A recession followed by a Hurricane can sure do some damage. Yet, as Cabo historically always seems to do, our community has bounced back stronger than ever and is now on a clear road to recovery post-hurricane Odile. Here in my most recent market update, the numbers prove just this. As a Realtor, it is my duty to my clients and staff to pull data from our MLS, analyze, and then properly advise on market trends and conditions. For most of our listings and buyers, we use a comparative market approach which depends heavily on closed sales in a given area or neighborhood to accurately value a subject property. So to keep it simple: For this approach to work, we must have closed sales. In years past, this had been a challenge in some cases. However, 2016 is writing a different story. Below you will see the market data from January 1st – June 17th 2016 vs the same period from 2015 for homes and condos from San Jose del Cabo to Cabo San Lucas. This data is pulled from our FLEX MLS system. I continue to be impressed with 2016 as our numbers show us that our market is improving. With more closed sales in 2016 (nearly doubled), this gives us more data to work on when pricing a property and creating a stable market where values are becoming more clear across the board.

So what does this mean for you? What does this mean for Cabo’s future? For buyers, as the numbers indicate, those “fire sales” have been mostly bought up and the time to act is now to get the best deal as values are getting stronger in the area. As market times decrease and sales numbers/volume increase, eventually values will increase as well. Buyers can get the most of their money right now while we still have a considerable amount of inventory at all price ranges.

For Sellers, we now have more data to work off of and pricing your home to get it sold in the right amount of time at the right price will be an easier task. As the market improves, it also means that the List Price vs Sales Price variance will get smaller. In other words, in coming months and years, you won’t need to give as much of a discount off of your listing price during negotiations. We all recognize and understand what a beautiful part of the world Baja and Cabo is. When you combine the weather, the people, and landscapes and a healthy market, there’s nothing but excitement for the future of Cabo! * Everything you need to know about Baja Sur

WEDNESDAY, JULY 15 , FIESTA OF THE VIRGIN OF CARMEN The festivities in honor of a woman that is believed to be a protector of the Mexican nation, begin with various cultural craft vendors taking to the streets in Cabo San Lucas. In the afternoon, a parade of school children are followed by mothers with families and puppeteers as the entourage wind their way through the downtown streets ending at the dusty soccer fields near the Walmart bridge. Bullfights also take place in the afternoon at the Toro Stadium. A small fishing tournament run by the city also takes place during this festival day.

SATURDAY, 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS SHOW AT MEDANO BEACH The first week in July the Baja Brewing Company will be celebrating their 4th Anniversary, 4th of July Weekend Party at their 7th floor location above the Cabo Villas Resort. The Sea of Cortez ocean view festivities above beautiful Medano Beach begin approximately at 8:00 pm and will end an hour after midnight at 1:00 am, when the dazzling fireworks display that lights up Cabo San Lucas Bay and the Arch has reached its climactic finish. Reservations are highly recommended. The restaurant/ bar will once again feature live music for this once in a lifetime Mexican tribute to America's Independence Day. Many other Medano Beach resorts hold smaller fireworks display versions of the Baja Brewing Company's 4th of July spectacle, for their tourist guests. ''The celebration at Pueblo Bonito Blanco and Rose' was fabulous,'' said California visitor, Eric Saito in 2015. ''It was $28 US Dollars per adult that included drinks, a fabulous buffet, and a really fun band with dancing that went on for hours. It was one of the most fun and affordable nights I've had in a long time here in Cabo.'' THURSDAY JULY 14 - SATURDAY JULY 16, BAJA BIKERS FESTIVAL The 4th Annual Moto Baja Bikers International Festival, hyped as the biggest biker event in Baja California, organized by Bikers MC, takes place from Thursday July 14 until Saturday, July 16 at its traditional location of the parking lot next to the Cultural Pavilion. This year's extravaganza will showcase the talented musical sounds of the successfully popular Mexican band, Inspector. Originally from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Inspector, fuses classic Jamaican rhythms with the feel of Mexican pop. Their style is a blend of ska, reggae, and a nostalgic blend of the 1960s and 70's rock-n-roll sound. Inspector, first began performing hundreds of concerts throughout the Republic of Mexico in 1995 and in 2001 were signed by the record label company, Universal Music. In 2015, the 8-member group celebrated 20-years in the music industry. Their hit single, "Amargo Adios" can be viewed on youtube for anyone unfamiliar with their tremendously cool sound. The event will also feature a bikini contest, and prizes. The festivities kick off at noon on Thursday and Friday will be a musical tribute to Guns and Roses. 40
