Whether you're visiting for the first time or you’ve made Los Cabos your home, getting around safely is always a top priority. From driving to catching a ride or exploring on foot, it helps to understand how transportation works here—and what to watch out for. Here’s a quick guide to help you move around Los Cabos with confidence.
Renting a car is a great way to explore Los Cabos and the beautiful Baja California Sur region at your own pace. You’ll find plenty of reputable rental companies offering everything from compact cars to four-wheel drives for offroad fun.
That said, there are a few things to keep in mind. Potholes are common and can be pretty rough on your tires, so it’s important to stay alert—especially at night. Livestock like goats, cows, and horses can also wander onto rural roads, particularly after dark, so extra caution is needed if you’re taking a night drive.
Driving customs here can feel a little different from what you might be used to in the U.S. or Canada. For example, stop signs are sometimes treated more like suggestions than strict rules—locals jokingly call them “stoptionals.” Instead of following the typical “right of way” rules, most drivers in Los Cabos use a take-turns approach at intersections. Eye contact with other drivers often helps smooth things out. Just remember that even if someone has a stop sign, they might not stop.
If driving isn’t your thing, Uber and taxis are both solid options. They’re generally affordable and convenient for getting around town. Just make sure the Uber matches what you see in the app, and stick with clearly marked official taxis. It’s best to avoid unmarked vehicles or anyone claiming to be an Uber without app confirmation.
Public buses are another option, especially popular with locals. They’re budget-friendly, but they can be slow and make frequent stops—so give yourself extra time if you're catching a bus.
Walking is a great way to experience Los Cabos—especially during the day or early evening in well-lit areas. It’s a relaxing way to take in the local atmosphere and enjoy events like the art walks in San José and San Lucas. However, one important rule to follow: never try to cross the main highway (the Transpeninsular Highway) on foot. There are no pedestrian bridges, and traffic moves quickly, making it extremely unsafe to cross at street level. Instead, plan your routes to use official crossings at intersections with traffic lights, or stick to one side of the highway for your walk.
If you’re up for an adventure, off-roading is a popular way to experience the rugged beauty of the region. You’ll find dirt trails and scenic routes that lead to remote beaches and lookout points. Rentals like ATVs and sideby-sides are widely available—just be sure to go with a reputable company and follow basic safety precautions.
Whether you’re driving, catching a ride, or exploring on foot, staying aware of your surroundings goes a long way in Los Cabos. With a little preparation, you’ll be able to get around safely and make the most of everything this amazing destination has to offer.
Balandra Beach is a stunning bay in La Paz that will take your breath away. The white powder-like sand and shallow water create dreamy turquoise colors that delight the eye as far as you can see. It is a kayaker's paradise; not only can you cruise to the reefs across the bay for an unforgettable snorkeling experience, but you can also explore the mangroves on the left side of the bay. The water is very shallow in most of the bay, so you can also simply walk around and explore by foot.
Location: About two hours from Cabo San Lucas. We recommend entering it into your phone or car's GPS for directions.
Tips: Try to shuffle your feet in the sand while in the water because many stingrays call this bay their home (lucky guys!) and the shuffling sends them away.

Hidden like a true New York speakeasy, discreetly perched above a private lounge in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, STEAK is more than a restaurant—it’s an escape into another era. Imagine stepping into a space where the lighting dims, the music shifts to the golden age of crooners, and the evening unfolds with the elegance of a 1960s supper club. That’s the vision behind STEAK, a refined destination conceived for those who appreciate discretion, sophistication, and the art of fine dining.
Guided by General Manager Juan Carlos Urieta, a seasoned sommelier and hospitality expert, STEAK was designed to extend the atmosphere of a poshly intimate club into a world-class culinary experience. “We wanted to create a space where the night doesn’t end—it evolves,” he explains.
At the heart of STEAK is Chef Marta Moreno, whose menu is built on the philosophy of timeless quality and made-to-order precision. Only USDA Prime beef makes it to the grill, each cut selected for its perfect balance of marbling and flavor. The result? A steak that melts in your mouth, served alongside ingredients that are fresh, organic, and handled with reverence. Every plate is a tribute to classic technique elevated by contemporary finesse.
But it’s not just the food that sets STEAK apart. The wine cellar, known as the Napa Power House, is a destination in itself. Housing over 700 labels, it features the most coveted names in American viticulture: Opus One, Harlan Estate, and Bond Vecina among them. A proud homage to the bold, expressive wines of the Americas.
Then there’s the bourbon collection—unrivaled in all of Mexico. The centerpiece? A rare bottle of Pappy Van Winkle 20-Year, a legendary spirit valued at $40,000 USD. It’s more than a drink; it’s a story, a symbol, and an experience few ever encounter.
The design invites guests to slow down and savor. Velvet textures, vintage carpets, marble tables, and soft lighting set the stage, while curated portraits of Old Hollywood icons whisper tales of glamour and mystique. It’s a place where conversation flows, time slows, and every detail feels intentional—like something out of a film noir.
Whether you're celebrating love, friendship, or simply indulging in the night, STEAK delivers an experience designed to stay with you. Long after the final toast, you'll find yourself remembering the soft glow of the lights, the music echoing in your mind, and wondering... was it all a dream? Or just the perfect night out in Cabo.

Tennis fans, mark your calendars—ATP 250 Los Cabos is back and better than ever. From July 14 to 19, 2025, the Cabo Sports Complex will once again transform into the epicenter of professional tennis in Baja California Sur. With top-ranked players, cuttingedge technology, and a packed schedule of events, this ninth edition promises to be an unmissable experience for locals and visitors alike.
What is ATP 250 Los Cabos?
Part of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour, the tournament—officially titled the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo —is a 250-level event that attracts top global talent. Players compete for vital ranking points and a substantial prize purse, all set against the backdrop of one of Mexico’s most iconic beach destinations.
Since its debut, the ATP 250 Los Cabos has grown into one of the region’s marquee summer events. In 2024, it welcomed over 34,000 spectators, reached 66 countries through international broadcasts, and drew coverage from 92 media outlets. Its economic footprint is equally impressive, contributing an estimated $129.7 million pesos to the local economy.
Returning to its traditional mid-July schedule, the 2025 tournament is expected to capture the full energy of the Los Cabos summer. The combination of high-level tennis and the destination’s stunning coastal backdrop continues to attract both international fans and seasoned players. The Cabo Sports Complex—purpose-built for comfort, visibility, and competitive excellence—will once again serve as the venue. Its layout offers an immersive experience, giving fans up-close access to the action without sacrificing comfort or atmosphere.
Organizers have emphasized a renewed focus on the in-person experience, with improvements across the board—from enhanced seating zones to expanded entertainment spaces—making this year’s event one of the most exciting yet. Whether you're a long-time tennis fan or new to the sport, the 2025 edition aims to be accessible, inclusive, and engaging from the first serve to the final trophy ceremony.
The 2025 edition boasts a stellar lineup. Among the early confirmed names are:
• Andrey Rublev (ATP #9), known for his relentless pace and aggressive baseline play. A consistent top-10 player, Rublev brings a powerful, high-intensity game that promises thrilling matches.
• Lorenzo Musetti (ATP #17), the 22-year-old Italian sensation celebrated for his graceful single-handed backhand and tactical variety. Musetti's adaptability across surfaces makes him a serious contender in any draw.
• Denis Shapovalov (ATP #32), a Canadian star with an electric playing style and a lefthanded serve that’s difficult to read. Shapovalov is known for his flair and unpredictability, always keeping fans on their toes.
• In total, 28 singles players and 16 doubles teams will compete on the tournament’s signature hard courts for a prize purse of $852,840 USD. With a field this competitive, every round will offer compelling matchups.
Technological innovation is also playing a key role in this year’s tournament. Electronic Line Calling (ELC) will be used on all courts, replacing traditional line judges and ensuring unmatched
precision in officiating. This system uses high-speed cameras and real-time tracking to determine whether a ball is in or out, eliminating human error and controversial calls. It’s a major leap forward in fairness and accuracy, aligning Los Cabos with the world’s most advanced tennis events. Beyond the courts, fans can expect a more interactive experience with new digital screens placed throughout the venue. These installations will display live scores, player stats, and real-time highlights to keep everyone engaged—even between sets. A sixth court is currently under construction to accommodate rising demand, ensuring more matches and better access for fans throughout the tournament.
ATP 250 Los Cabos is more than just a tennis tournament—it’s a celebration for the whole community. A variety of off-court activities are designed to bring fans closer to the game and create a festive atmosphere:
• Tennis Talks, scheduled for S aturday, July 12 at 5 PM, invites fans to hear directly from tennis professionals and insiders in an engaging panel format. Expect behind-the-scenes stories, expert commentary, and a deeper look into the life and strategy of the ATP tour—all set in a casual, conversational setting that welcomes fans of all knowledge levels.
• Kids Nite, happening Sunday, July 13 at 7 PM, is one of the most beloved traditions of the event. It gives young tennis fans the opportunity to join on-court clinics led by some of the tournament's professional players. With a fun and inclusive environment, Kids Nite is the perfect way to inspire the next generation and offer a family-friendly evening full of energy and enthusiasm.
• Other events like Family Day, Tennis Golf, and the highly anticipated Players Party help round out the week with engaging options for all ages.

ATP 250 Los Cabos 2025 isn't just about tennis—it's about the experience. Join the celebration this July in Baja California Sur.
There’s something new taking shape along the beautiful corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, and it’s not another resort. Just in front of Villa la Valencia and Solaz, CHRISTUS MUGUERZA, a trusted name in healthcare across Mexico, has officially begun construction on a state-of-the-art hospital that’s set to change the game for both residents and visitors of Los Cabos.
So, what exactly can Los Cabos expect from this hospital?
For starters, the numbers are impressive. With 23,671 square meters of construction built across 29,215 square meters of land, the hospital will offer a total of 72 beds, 44 medical offices, 8 emergency cubicles, and 6 operating rooms—a setup designed to meet both routine and highly complex medical needs. It will offer 30 medical specialties, including cardiology, oncology, gynecology, pediatrics, and neurosurgery, alongside specialty clinics such as a dedicated Breast Health Center.
But this isn’t just about size or specialties. CHRISTUS MUGUERZA is putting a major focus on technology and innovation. Nearly 491 million pesos (approximately $25 million USD) of the investment is going into advanced tools—think AI applied to the analysis of medical studies, virtual nursing assistants, post-surgery pain prediction algorithms, and tele-radiology services. Patients will also benefit from an electronic medical record system that ensures seamless care from consultation to recovery.
According to Horacio Garza Ghio, CEO of CHRISTUS MUGUERZA, the goal is simple yet ambitious: "The patient and their family are always at the center of everything we do. This hospital will provide not just expert care, but humanized attention—care that considers physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being."
With over 350,000 local residents, 23,000 American residents, and 4 million tourists visiting Los Cabos each year, the hospital is positioned to serve a truly diverse community. “We will invest more than 100 million dollars into this hospital, strengthening the region’s healthcare services with medical professionals capable of handling highly complex cases” remarked Horacio Garza Ghio.
Architecturally, the project is also something to look forward to. The design is in the hands of Fernando Romero Enterprise (FR-EE), led by renowned architect Fernando Romero. The hospital will incorporate local materials, cultural elements, and even art installations that reflect the spirit of Baja California Sur. Sustainable practices are also a key part of the blueprint, including highefficiency lighting and HVAC systems, and the use of eco-friendly materials throughout.
CHRISTUS MUGUERZA isn’t new to healthcare excellence. With 15 hospitals across seven Mexican states, plus a broader network of over 60 hospitals that extends into the United States, Colombia, and Chile, they bring a wealth of experience and international expertise to the table. And now, they’re bringing it to Los Cabos.
The hospital is scheduled to open its doors in the first half of 2028, and when it does, it will stand as a new standard for healthcare in the region. It’s more than just a building—it’s a long-term investment in the health and wellness of a vibrant, fast-growing community.
In short, Los Cabos is getting more than a hospital—it’s gaining a healthcare partner for generations to come.

One of the many things I love about Cabo is that it offers a variety of family-friendly activities that cater to all ages. While some may see Cabo as an adult playground (which, it is!) there’s certainly family fun to be found.

Since its foundation in 2010, the Rotary Club of Los Cabos has been a beacon of purpose-driven service, community empowerment, and youth development in one of Mexico’s most vibrant and dynamic regions. With a philosophy rooted in sustainability, continuity, and compassion, this club has become an essential thread in the fabric of Los Cabos’ civic and social landscape.
What began as a modest group of professionals driven by Rotary International’s core values—service above self, fellowship, integrity, and leadership—has evolved into a thriving, multicultural organization that actively shapes the future of the community. Over the past decade, the Rotary Club of Los Cabos has led transformative initiatives ranging from scholarship programs and youth exchanges to medical missions and cultural outreach.
One of the Club’s crowning achievements is its long-standing scholarship initiative, which empowers students from underserved communities to pursue their education without the burden of financial limitations. The success stories that have emerged from this program are not only heartwarming but deeply illustrative of the club’s impact. Ronaldo, who joined the club’s scholarship program at the age of nine, recently returned from a life-changing academic exchange year in Belgium. Another scholar, Miriam, is concluding her time in Taiwan, her journey a vivid testament to the power of opportunity and support.
These youth exchanges are not isolated victories—they represent a broader mission to cultivate global citizens who return with broader perspectives, stronger values, and the desire to lead within their own communities.
The guiding philosophy of the Rotary Club of Los Cabos is to focus not merely on launching new programs, but on ensuring that existing initiatives flourish. Sustainability is more than a buzzword—it is a principle that informs every decision the club makes.
As the current President explains, the goal is to “ensure continuity and long-term sustainability in the projects that have the greatest impact on our community.”
This means ongoing support for established programs like the Smiles Foundation, which provides free cleft palate surgeries to children, and traditional outreach events such as visits to elderly communities and rural villages during Three Kings Day and Children’s Day.
These activities aren’t just momentary acts of goodwill—they’re part of a larger framework of sustained community engagement that promotes dignity, joy, and human connection.
Community involvement is not a one-way effort. The Rotary Club of Los Cabos listens—deeply and consistently—to the people it serves. Whether it's through direct feedback, collaboration with other organizations, or dialogue with local leaders, the club places a premium on responsiveness.
Needs in Los Cabos are many and evolving, and the Club takes a thoughtful approach to identifying where its efforts will have the most meaningful impact. Each new opportunity is weighed against criteria such as urgency, alignment with Rotary’s values, and potential for lasting results. This disciplined approach ensures that every initiative is not only purposeful but positioned for long-term success.
Even with a strong foundation, the Club recognizes the importance of staying relevant and innovative. New members—especially younger professionals—are welcomed not just as volunteers, but as contributors of fresh energy and new ideas. The club fosters an environment where younger voices are encouraged to lead, and where commitment is matched with opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Leadership development is another key focus. Members are invited to take on meaningful roles through project coordination, committee leadership, and ultimately, positions like Club President. The goal is to develop capable leaders not only within Rotary but in the broader civic and professional spheres. Training, mentorship, and real-time experience ensure that leadership is not just theoretical, but rooted in action and accountability.
Behind the visible success of the Club lies a well-organized structure built on transparency and accountability. Financial decisions are openly discussed, regular board meetings are held, and members are kept informed through detailed reporting. Internal controls and best practices, many adopted from Rotary International, help ensure that resources are managed effectively and ethically. This level of transparency has built trust not only within the Club but also with the businesses, donors, and partners that support its mission. Collaborations with local businesses and fellow Rotary clubs often begin through personal connections but are strengthened by shared goals and mutual respect. These partnerships are vital. They bring not only funding but also expanded reach, access to new resources, and broader community involvement. In the words of the Club’s leadership, “Rotary is also a networking organization— creating meaningful relationships is part of who we are.”
Like any organization committed to meaningful change, the Rotary Club of Los Cabos faces its share of challenges. Chief among them is the need to balance limited time and resources against growing community demands. The leadership is acutely aware of the risks of overextension and takes care to prioritize sustainability over expansion.
Visibility, too, requires constant effort. Staying active on social media, maintaining contact with partners, and organizing community events are all part of a strategy to keep the Club’s work in the public eye and invite broader participation. But beyond metrics and milestones, the Club measures success in far more human terms. “We look at stories, feedback, and outcomes,” the President shares. “Students graduating, families accessing medical help, young people gaining lifechanging experiences. Impact is felt in lives, not just numbers.”
As the Club looks to the future, its goals remain ambitious yet grounded. It aims to grow its membership base, deepen existing partnerships, and expand scholarship opportunities. But more than that, it strives to remain a steady and compassionate presence in Los Cabos—a source of hope, support, and empowerment. The Rotary Club of Los Cabos stands as proof that when service meets strategy, and when compassion is backed by continuity, lasting change becomes not only possible but inevitable.
For those seeking to make a difference—not just for a moment, but for a lifetime— the Rotary Club of Los Cabos offers a place to start, to lead, and to belong.
