My Melbourne As the concierge at The Langham, Melbourne, Ben Davies is an expert on Melbourne. He shares his recommendations for Melbourne’s best: Walk: With so many fantastic areas that are off the tourist track the best way to see them is with the Hidden Secrets 'Lanes and Arcades' tour. It is a great way to see the graffiti filled laneways, hidden restaurants and historical arcades around town that many tourists wouldn’t normally visit. Coffee: The bar seating at Pellegrini’s in Bourke Street is prime location and at times can be difficult to get in, but the wait is definitely worth it with the best coffee in town, as well as fantastic rustic pasta’s and no fuss or frills. View: A table by the window at Donovans in St Kilda. It is hard to think of a better way to spend a night than sitting by the window, looking out over the beach and bay as you dine at this amazing restaurant. Place for a meal at the end of a busy day: Located in Southbank, The Deck is a great bar and restaurant that is perfect for a relaxed meal and glass of wine after a long day. Place for a business dinner: For formality, impeccable service, setting and location, Rockpool is perfect for anyone looking to impress. The food is second to none and the setting is perfect for a quiet private dinner to talk business. Place for a meeting: While it may be a little biased, the range of function rooms at The Langham, Melbourne cover small groups to large conferences and with our location on Southbank, they are in easy reach of the best Melbourne has to offer. A quintessential Melbourne experience: While it is only on for a limited time of the year the Suzuki Night Market at the Queen Victoria Market is something to look forward to. With food stalls available from around the world, live music, people everywhere and loads of shopping, it’s a great night out.

Golden Touch The legacy of the mid-1800s gold rush lives on in the architecture, parks and hotels of Victoria’s goldfields. Ballarat was built on gold and that extraordinary wealth is still on display in the city's grand public buildings, hotels and botanic gardens. Bendigo pays homage to its Chinese heritage at the Golden Dragon Museum and you can find out more about local histories via the commentary as you tour the streets onboard the historic Bendigo Talking Tram. To understand the reality of life searching for gold in these regions, you can go underground for a one-hour tour of the Central Deborah Gold Mine or wander through the recreated buildings and streets of a nineteenth-century mining town at iconic living museum Sovereign Hill.

Grand country house hotels that spirit you away from the day-to-day, little cottages hidden in the countryside, apartments right in the middle of busy seaside villages – the Mornington Peninsula has all this and more. Our elegant country hotels range from those with a contemporary edge to historic estates that could have been transplanted from the European countryside. Also reminiscent of European traditions are the wineries where you can start in the cellar door, progress to the restaurant for dinner then slip away to a luxurious suite. If you want to open the doors to fresh sea air and the sounds of the ocean, apartments, B&Bs, exclusive retreats and motels are found right along our coastline. Snug cottages and B&Bs are full of surprises, as you can find yourself staying in a luxury hill-top B&B with extraordinary bay views or in a cottage once occupied by a lightstation keeper. If you're here for some serious golf, book into one of our golf resorts then you won't waste a minute's play.
