Our instructors guide students through the process of turning a dream into a functional diagram, then mapping out a preliminary design and finalizing a master plan. Using the Garden as an outdoor classroom, take advantage of our living library to learn how to identify commonly used desert plants. Container Gardening: Ornamentals Thursday | April 4 | 10 a.m. - Noon Members: $60 | General Public: $75 Explore ways to add colorful and shapely accents to your patio and yard through the basics of container gardening.

Learn about making selections based on plant size, shape and color to create intriguing containerized arrangements sure to impress your friends and neighbors and attract wildlife, including hummingbirds. Drip Irrigation Design and Installation Saturday | April 6 | 9 a.m. - Noon Members: $35 | General Public: $44 Lower your water bill—and help the planet—one drip at a time by designing an efficient drip irrigation system that you can modify as your plants grow and mature.

What’s Wrong with My Vegetable Garden?

Explore the history of herbs, and their role in kitchens and diverse cultures today. Fuss-free Gardens Saturday | April 13 | 10 a.m. - Noon Members: $30 | General Public: $38 Create an attractive outdoor space that doesn’t require much maintenance. Discover a number of low-maintenance plants that will add welcome beauty without a lot of fuss.

Girl Scouts get their hands dirty learning how to grow their own garden in the low desert. Discover different soil types, how to choose the perfect plant for your growing zone and take home a garden experiment to keep the discoveries coming!

Bountiful Butterflies Saturday | May 11 | 10 a.m. - Noon Scouts: $10 | Guests: $10 Journey through the lifecycle from egg to adult and learn what a butterfly needs in order to thrive. Search for each part of the lifecycle when you visit the Garden’s butterfly pavilion.

EDUCATORS Sonoran Desert Adventure Guided Garden field trips engage students with fun, hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences to help them enjoy the Sonoran Desert and care about it. All field trips are aligned to Arizona State standards to help you enhance student learning. Grades Pre-K through 8.

Alternatively, choose a self-guided group experience that provides the flexibility to tailor your visit to your exact curriculum.
