DOWNTOWN BRIGHTON

Mother’s Day Edition

One Mom’s Journey for a Complete Make-Over

As I was surfing the social media, I came across an acquaintance, Cassandra Jorae, excited that she had great success in her weight loss journey. Her husband said the magic words, “You need a wardrobe update.”

Cassandra admittedly had very little comfort in the idea of shopping for a new wardrobe, and her typical go-to would be the big box no-frills discount stores.

I urged her to visit downtown Brighton. “I’ll introduce you to Brass and Oak , Rosy’s Boutique, Beverly Rae’s, Sunny's on the Corner and more. You will get personal service, feel like you’ve made a new friend, and never feel overwhelmed like malls can do. Happy to buy you lunch when you come!”

had a great article on how to update a wardrobe, so she had some homework to do before we set out on

How to Update Your Wardrobe in 5 Easy Steps!

We met up at a favorite coffee shop commonly known at B-CAT (Brighton Coffeehouse and Theater), which seems like the perfect first stop to any shopping expedition.

Cassandra journeyed from 1.5 hours away to take this trip. She came prepared with a budget.

wasn’t simply looking for new clothing. She desired to be more professional in the workplace.

As a mom of two, one autistic, she spends most of her focus with service providers on her daughter’s growth. A nice selfcare day out was the reset she needed.

At work, she wanted to show up with the expressed confidence of a well-dressed person that represented the years of expertise her experience provided her. She had the connections, the know-how and the determination. Could the right clothes, style and investment get her noticed?

She certainly got the merchants excited at the prospect! (cont.)

Skilled Merchants Make Shopping Comfortable

Jeans were well in order, and Cassandra was quite please with the selection!

Service with a smile will never go out of fashion.

Kathleen personally reviewed best practices on foundation and moisturizer. London Beauty likes to think she is the cool older sister.

Pure silk wraps heighten the simplest outfits, and are one-size fits all.

What comes across as confidence on the outside is sometimes from what lies beneath. Proper longere fittings are a must.

Michelle Roy stayed in tune about Cassandra’s desire to earn her promotion, and they shared a love for conservation, too!

Mission accomplished…

Fine women’s clothing featuring Habitat, Tribal, Nora Fleming, Charlie B, Jess & Jane, Brighton, Shana Apparel, Chalet, and more! .

Again, it’s the service with a smile. I can’t resist, and Cassandra is really having fun!

You can’t do four hours of shopping without some fuel. Captain’s on Main is always a treat! I hate to say we were too hungry to remember the photo first!

No wardrobe is complete without a black dress.

Textiles were in Jennifer Rote’s background, owner of Brass + Oak, and fabrics are showcased fabulously!

I couldn’t resist a little indulgence for my daughter (bride-to-be) as Sunny’s on the corner was bringing in a new line for brides!

The Face of Confidence

I appreciate the courage that it took for Cassandra to venture out of her routine and explore a different way of shopping. I’m thrilled to say that all the merchants provided the kind of experience and expertise that helped to build this transformation.

The photo you see to the left is a selfie she shot on her way to a training session she was hosting, “Emerging Leaders Spring Training.” She is definitely one of them!

Can you summarize how your shopping trip to Brighton was for me? “As a small-town woman who usually stops at big chain retail stores, it was a very unique experience. Every place we went to was different from the next in ambiance and offerings, but everyone was very friendly and helpful.”

What were the highlights? “My favorite places were Brass + Oak Women’s Lifestyle Boutique, Grace & Whimsy Sustainable Resale, and Captain’s ön Main.”

What surprised you the most? “There were a lot of people downtown, even with construction going on, and everyone seemed to be very relaxed and enjoying themselves.”

What is your favorite treasure for the shopping that you did? “The drawstring jeans that I bought at Rosy's Boutique are the most comfortable pair of jeans I’ve ever owned and I’m in my early 40’s. Get yours here:

Would you recommend Brighton to anyone? “Yes! There is something for everyone: clothes, food, coffee, fitted undergarments, books. It’s a good place to spend time with a friend.”
