TWC CELEBRATES OUR MEN WHO LOVE PILATES
The TWC has been celebrating men’s health month and as this month winds down, I’d like to acknowledge our men who love Pilates.

Renewal Hydro Facial 60min
Pilates, designed by a man for men, was developed by German born, Joseph Pilates.He developed his system for personal fitness, but later travelled to England in 1912 and worked with athletes. When the first world war broke out, he was interned in a prisoner of war camp where he taught his system to other men in the POW camp. When the war was over, the English were so impressed at how healthy all these POWs who practiced Joe’s system were that he was asked to work with injured soldiers in some of the English hospitals. It was at this time, he created the use of bed springs and leather straps to create exercises to rehabilitate the soldiers. He later moved back to Germany where the German army hired him to train their soldiers. In 1925, when he was requested to train SS troops, Joe decided to emigrate to the USA to patent the reformer machine. In 1926 he opened a studio in New York and the rest is American history.
