Exciting changes are happening at DSU Downtown during the Summer 2025 term. The Office of Student Success is relocating Academic Advisement for the Wesley College of Health and Behavioral Sciences and Integrated Academic Support Services satellite centers to a newhomeinParkerLibrary.
This move will mark the beginning of other changes to come in Parker Library as part of a transition plan aimed at transforming Parker Library into a vibrant and contemporary academic hub for students, offering services and resources that mirror those at the William C. While reflecting on her four years at DSU, Bryanna is extremely proud of her many accomplishments and the opportunities she experienced. She was an active member of the Honors College, F.O.R.C.E. Bryanna credits her success and passions to her family and Christian upbringing. She is a proud daughter to her mother and a big sister to one “knuckleheaded” little brother. Her interests include documentaries on global cultures and history, as well as spending time outdoors. She loves walking and running outside, both being activities that bring her peace. Above all, Bryanna loves to travel; she has visited Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and China, and plans to explore manymoredestinationsinthefuture.Shedescribesherselfassomeonewhoisn’tamasterofjust onething, butrathersomeonewhoisaboveaverageinmanyareas—aqualityshefullyembraces.

Don’t let the rules of life or the status quo convince you that you don’t have the right to try something new. And don’t worry if it doesn’t look ‘right’ to others. Taking steps backward or sidewayscanbejustasmeaningfulasmovingforward.

university, Ms. Knowles leads initiatives within the Academic Recovery Program that are designed to support students who are on academic probation, readmitted after suspension, or are not meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards. The Academic Recovery Program provides these students with the opportunity to regain their academic standing and develop the skills they need tosucceedbothacademicallyandpersonally.
Originally from New York, Ms. Knowles relocated to Delaware to pursue scholarship and further her commitment to helping the next generation of leaders. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Delaware State University, along with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Wilmington University. As a youth, she dreamed of becoming both a lawyer and a teacher—passions that were rooted in her desire to make a difference in others’ lives. However, thissenseofpurposeledMs.Knowlesto instead pursue a career in higher education, particularly after reading about the high school attrition rates in our state. It was then that she found a drive to help students navigate their academicchallenges, buildresilience, andeventuallystepintoleadershiprolesthemselves.
Ms. Knowles’s professional background spans across higher education, business consulting, and global financial services, providing her with a diverse and cross-functional perspective. She has had the opportunity to work in various sectors, which has given her a unique approach to student success—one that combines strategic thinking, practical solutions, and a deep commitmenttopersonalgrowth.
Ms. Knowles describes her leadership style as transformative, grounded in the belief that true leadership is about empowering others to realize their fullest potential. She leads with empathy, vision, and a deep commitment to fostering both personal and academic growth. Understanding that lasting change and progress take time, she encourages those she works with to approach challenges as opportunities for growth, to think critically, and to take full ownership of their learning journey. Resilience is at the heart of her approach—both in herself and in those she mentors. She believes that the ability to persist through setbacks and adapt to new situations is key to achieving personal and academic success. Ms. Knowles is deeply invested in cultivating a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and mutual respect. She believes every individual hasuniquestrengths, andheraimistohelppeopleuncoverandleveragethosestrengthstodrive positivechange, bothwithinthemselvesandinthebroadercommunity.
Whenaskedifshehadanywordsofencouragementforstudents,Ms.Knowlessharedthat...
...“Your journey is not defined by one setback. Challenges and setbacks are part of the process, not the end of the road. Your academic journey is about growth, not perfection. Through the Academic Recovery Program, you have the chance to rebuild and develop new skills, both academically and personally. The key is to stay committed to yourself and your goals, no matter how tough it gets. Don’t be afraid to ask for help—we are here to support you every step of the way.Youcandothis.”
In closing, Ms. Knowles shared her final thoughts with the statement: “The Academic Recovery Program (academicrecovery@desu.edu) is about more than just improving grades; it’s about transforming mindsets and developing the life skills that students need to thrive. We’re here to support students in building resilience, cultivating a growth mindset, and acquiring the habits that will set them up for success in college and in life.
I’m deeply committed to supporting students as they navigate their challenges and work toward achieving their goals. I’m excited to continue working with our students to help them succeed and make a meaningful impact on their future.”
