From the Administrator’s Desk Dear friends, No one is indispensable and therefore I feel it is my responsibility to envision and prepare for new leaders to take over the Delek management in the foreseeable future. I and my team have created financial and human resource capabilities to ensure a stable administration for the long term sustainability of this important institution. During my tenure as Hospital Administrator, I have been seriously thinking about staff retention strategies and have managed to provide benefits to Delek hospital staff commensurate with our resources. Retention strategies are important because they help create a positive work environment and strengthen an employee’s commitment to the organization. Delek Hospital’s Governing Board of Directors, at its annual budget meeting on March 30, 2017, approved pension for retired staff who have served a minimum of 20 years. Ever since the inception of the hospital, on October 4, 1971, only nine staff have been eligible for this benefit. We have started providing pension from April 1, 2017 and I have worked hard to raise funds for this. A benefit such as this is most worthy and deserving for those who have not only worked under very trying conditions, but forgone opportunities to immigrate overseas and dedicated their careers to continuing service to the community. I am sure this will increase institutional morale and give our employees a sense of pride in what they do. I am also very happy to mention here that two retired staff, Nurse Sangay Choedon (settled in New York) and Delek’s Cook Thupten Rabten (Old Age Home, Dharamsala) have decided to forego their pension thereby cutting costs to Delek Hospital. They have dedicated the major part of their lives to serving our community and now, donating their monthly pension to the hospital means a lot to us. Thank you both for your generosity and support of Delek Hospital. I am also grateful to the Honorable Minister of Health, CTA and all the Governing Board of Directors for their guidance and support in the smooth running of the hospital. Finally, I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to all our donors and well wishers for your help and support which has made it possible for the hospital to sustain high quality services.
