From the Administrator’s Desk Dear friends, As of May 30th, 2016, I was once again re-elected as a member of the Tibetan Parliament- in -Exile for my fourth consecutive term(May 2001- May 2021). I am deeply honored and take great pride in representing the Tibetan community in India, Nepal, and Bhutan as well as Delek Hospital. Despite my responsibilities in the Tibetan Parliament, my main focus will still be on Delek as it has been for the past 30 years. My position in the Tibetan Parliament will keep Delek’s relationship with the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) positive and strong while also serving our community. Many of our readers will be aware that of the many activities Delek does, most are patient related. However there is an educational component that we consider as an important contribution to humanity. Over the years we have become a popular site for elective medical students as well as prospective medical students from around the world. The signicant change in this scenario has been the gradually increasing number of Tibetans living overseas who are showing a keen interest in spending time at Delek, either shadowing to observe activities or volunteering where help is needed. I consider the inow of Tibetan students to be very important because it is an opportunity for them to witness how Delek is serving the community and take pride in our contribution. But more than this they have much to gain from the total immersion into the humanitarian services rendered here which will allow them to develope a strong pride in what Tibetans can achieve in the face of limited resources and many obstacles. My greatest hope is that these students and volunteers will use the knowledge and experience they have gained in Delek to benet others as much as possible and return not only as ambassadors of Delek but of the Tibetan people. Again, I want to express my gratitude and thanks to all the supporters and donors of Delek for your continuous help. All your donations and support have helped so many people not only in this community but elsewhere and we are truly grateful for that. We at Delek, hope to have a long lasting partnership with you all.
