Stone Hall Castle

Educational School Tours! It is our goal at Stone Hall Castle to open our doors and allow students and teachers a chance to delve into the deep-routed history that has been meticulously hand picked and created in the heart of Regina. We wish to offer informative educational tours, that are guaranteed to provide stimulating opportunities for learning outside the classroom. Not only is Stone Hall a one-of-a-kind exhibit in craftsmanship, architecture, antiquities, and art from the rich past of renaissance Europe, it also allows a look into the past history of Regina and how the castle came to be.

By booking a private tour for your class, you have the ability to have a consultation with Mr. Hall prior to your visit to discus and plan the specific learning objectives you wish your class to take away from the experience, whether it be an over all in-depth tour, to specialized tours in antiquities and renaissance furniture and purposes, to concentrating on the private art collection within the castle walls. Tours can be arranged Monday through Friday, allowing students a chance to watch history come to life as they are guided by Mr. Hall in an interactive, firstclass tour into the beauty and depths of history. We would like to offer all students and teachers $10.00 admittance, 50% off rate from regular tours pricing.

Choose the Saskatchewan Science Centre for your field trip this year!

F

ield trips can enhance and expand upon the materials that you are teaching in class, but there are only so many opportunities to get outside of the classroom during the school year. When you do choose a location for a field trip, you want to make the most of it.

use the scavenger hunts or activity sheets available on our website to help their fun time be productive. This time could also include watching one of our hourly stage show demonstrations on topics including cryogenics, gravity, air pressure, animals, and even fire!

Choosing the Saskatchewan Science Centre for your field trip is one of the best ways to do that. With more than 180 hands-on exhibits to explore, a large variety of workshops to take part in, and educational IMAX films, it’s easy to tie your lesson plan into a fun and productive field trip.

Enjoy lunch on site at noon, which can be eaten out in beautiful Wascana Park if the weather permits. Then, at 1:00, watch an IMAX documentary on our five story screen with intense 3D images and more than 10,000 watts of surround sound to keep your students glued to their seats. By 1:45, you’re back on the way to your bus and back to school with plenty of time to spare.

Each of our workshops is designed for a specific grade level to work with the curriculum that you are teaching in your class. Information about inquiry learning activities is provided so that you can plan lessons around the things your students experience at the Science Centre, and the visiting exhibitions and IMAX films are presented with Educator Guides to help take the load off of planning pre and post field trip activities. Start the day right at 9:45! A quick check-in, and by 10:00 one of our science educators is taking your class to their workshop location. Maybe it’s Star Trip – where our inflatable digital planetarium takes students on a visual journey out into the universe – followed by some exploration time on the exhibit floor! Promote inquiry learning and

Experience the arts with us! The Moose Jaw Cultural Centre is home to the 420-seat Mae Wilson Theatre for the performing arts, the Visual Arts Centre which includes the Mosaic Gallery for visual arts. The Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC) along with Moose Jaw Cultural Centre are proud to present the 2019/2020 Stars for Saskatchewan Concert Series. OSAC presents over 300 live community and school performances annually, attended by a total audience of approximately 75,000. This is possible thanks to a dedicated network of volunteers committed to making culture an integral part of Saskatchewan community life, and vital funding from Saskatchewan Lotteries administered by SaskCulture, as well as funding from Canadian Heritage, Canada Council for the Arts, and the Saskatchewan Arts Board. Proceeds from Saskatchewan Lotteries benefit more than 12,000 non-profit sport, culture and recreation groups around the province.

Have you ever been to fiddle camp? What are you waiting for?? Fiddle camp is the best way to learn to play fiddle (and guitar and piano and banjo and cello)! You will also get to hear amazing performances and dance your heart out! Fiddly Ness presents two fiddle camps annually: Shivering Strings in Saskatoon in January and FiddlyNess Fiddle Camp at Ness Creek in July. Our goal is to present some of the best instructors in various Canadian fiddle genres - Prairie, Down East, Celtic, Quebecois, and more. We also focus on dancing that ties in to fiddling including polkas and waltzes, reels and squares, to mention a few. These are great family events, and all ages are welcome!

It begins with the ancient fishes, progresses through the early amphibians to the great reptiles and ends in the modern world where fishes rule the sea, birds the air and mammals the land. The evolution of animals depended on the evolution of plants from ancient ferny forests, through stands of conifers and cycads, to the diverse flowering plants of today. The evolution of both plants and animals in turn depended on Earth’s geology, how the continents shifted and how the climate changed. TABLE MOUNTAIN

Regio n al P ar k

For more than 50 years; Table Mountain has been offering ski/snowboard programs to schools across Saskatchewan and Alberta. We feel that every child should have the opportunity to experience skiing/snowboarding. Our certified CSIA and CASI instructors have customized programs to accommodate every grade (4-12) and ability level. With our large chalet there is plenty of space for a quick rest and a bite to eat. Our 2 quad chairs will have you spending less time standing in line and more time for fun on the slopes. With the newly expanded beginners area your kids will be having fun in a safe environment, while practicing their turns. Skiing Levels Red

• An introduction to skiing, designed for first- or second-time skiers • We stay on the Bunny Hill.

Green

• Ski improvement, for skiers who can turn both ways and stop using a snowplow stance • We generally go straight to the top of the chair

Blue

• This level is for skiers who can parallel ski and are ready for a new challenge • We will be going down The Black Diamond Runs

Snowboards Levels Yellow

• An introduction to snowboarding designed for firstor second-time snowboarders • We generally stay on the Bunny Hill

Orange

• Rider improvement for snowboarders who are ready to start turning or still have trouble linking turns • We go straight to the top of the hill

Black

• This level is for confident riders who can carve & link turn on all terrain • We will be going down The Black Diamond Runs

They can climb on a train, walk through a vintage railway station, and view railway artifacts that helped build Saskatchewan’s railway history. The museum was established in 1990 and this year celebrates its 30th anniversary. The museum is operated by the Saskatchewan Railroad Historical Association, who have collected upwards of 50 vintage railcars and 30 historical railway buildings. These items are restored and maintained by a volunteer work crew. The museum is open Thursdays to Mondays (closed Tuesday/ Wednesday) from 10am to 5 pm. From the May long weekend to the Labour Day weekend. Group tours are available by contacting the museum at 306-382-9855 or check our website www.Saskrailmuseum.org for admission prices and other details on the museum’s collection. GUIDED KAYAKING Join our guide on a paddle around the 1st Hanging Heart Lake. Enjoy the beauty of the lake above and below the water. CAUTION...YOU WILL GET WET!

PONTOON BOAT TOUR Travel aboard one of our four pontoon boats as we take you through the 1st and 2nd Hanging Heart Lakes. Opportunities are there to catch a glimpse of nature in action.

For information on how we can customize your unique group experience, phone or visit our website.
