BOUT VICTOR
Who are you? My name is Víctor Salgado.
Where do you come from? Where are you now? Where are you going? I'm from Santiago de Chile - I currently live between Pichilemu, a coastal town, and Santiago – I’m not sure where I’m going right now.
Which cameras you shoot with? Nikon FG20, Nikonos IV and lately with an Olympus Trip AF 30.
Who is behind your images? Mainly people and their relationship with the environment, the places and the existing light. The registration of a unique moment between a person, a place and a situation.
An image that moves/inspires you? Something that moves me would be the sea and the people, but above all that, the relationship between them.
Something you should have said to someone but you never did? Whenever I’ve had to say something really important to someone I think I’ve had.
What color are you? Depends what for, but mostly blue.
A song, a movie, a book It’s difficult to appoint just one example of each, the first that came to mind: A Song: Pink Moon - Nick Drake, A Movie: Canine - Giorgos Lanthimos and films of Andrei Tarkovsky's A Book: On Photography - Susan Sontag.
Have you ever been defeated? What happened? I’ve been defeated many times, as it might have happened to most everyone.
How do you relate your photographs to our issue topic? “ I feel a special attraction to ·light· and what it can generate on a scene, whether is natural or fictitious.
I try to use it in my work always in the best way to achieve what I want. On the other hand, I think a picture without the light would be nothing, it just would not exist. Because is thanks to light there’s photography and thanks to light I do what I do.

Without light we would not recognize “ the underground cavities that lie deep in our psyche, that empower the river and feeds the creation.
