Join us at the PTC as we proudly celebrate our 20th Anniversary in style. It’s a grand evening of fare, music and friends! PTC Healthy Lifestyle Expo

Please join us at the PTC as we partner with DBR Chamber to host this year’s annual Healthy Lifestyle Expo. Spend your morning with us and talk with staff, community service representatives, instructors and vendors from leading healthcare agencies, businesses and more. Designed for active, older adults, this one-stop expo will feature valuable take-home information and resource material to make you aware and to better navigate retirement-age living. In addition, flu shots will be provided by Walgreens along with the services of a paper shredding company. All are warmly invited!

Chicago Showcase: South of Disorder

Join us at the PTC as we welcome “South of Disorder” the ultimate Jimmy Buffet and Island Tribute Band! It will be an evening of tropical music and island rhythms! Prior to the performance, please join us for an Atrium reception that will help set the mood. See page 11 for info.

Veterans Pancake Breakfast & Musical Salute

Join us for a delicious and patriotic celebration as we honor Veterans Day with a special tribute to the Armed Forces past and present. Enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast and musical tribute from the PTC’s very own Hummers and Strummers and 50+ Dance Ensemble. Veterans are FREE!

Intro to Mah Jongg

If you have ever wanted to learn how to play the game of Mah-Jongg, this is the class for you. Learn the basic rules and strategies in this teacher-instructed class. Students will learn and play in a card-play setting.

Intro to Canasta

Canasta is a fun and exciting card game that has recently enjoyed a resurgence of popularity! Our experienced instructor teaches canasta in a learn-as-you-play game, with written instructions. At the last class, students are provided with a synopsis of the rules of play and a scorecard sheet to copy for future games.

Art Alive with Debra Levie

Explore the Masterpieces of the art world with Columbia Art School Art Educator, Debra Levie. Learn about the history and paintings of the world’s most beloved artists. Each class will feature larger-than-life masterworks (on the big screen) and the history behind each composition. Experience different countries, different periods of art and the incredible artists who paved the way. This very popular art class is one of Patty Turner Centers signature programs.

PTC Members’ Club Lecture Series

The PTC Members’ Club Lecture Series is a weekly lecture program open to all members. All presentations are held on Tuesdays at the PTC at 9am. A $3.00 fee is charged at the door. Coffee and donuts are provided FREE by the PTC Members’ Council. .

Join composer and music researcher Jim Kendros for this evening program of classical note. Jim will perform on the piano along with the artistry of guest musicians. Enjoy rich compositions and their histories in this Patty Turner signature program!

Studio Painting and Drawing

Susie Mason brings her warm teaching style to this Adult studio art class. Whether you prefer watercolor, acrylic, pastel, pencil, or other mediums, students of all levels are welcome, from beginner to advanced. You will be encouraged to try a variety of mediums and explore different techniques while experiencing the sheer joy of creating. Students are required to bring a Masterson paint keeper box to class (paint box is not needed for the first class). No class: Monday, September 26th.

Coffee and Conversation Discussion Group

Join hosts and PTC members Carol Mellem and Donna Stupple as they invite you to share your thoughts on topics old and new. This casual conversation group meets on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of each month, is FREE and is open to all members of the Patty Turner Center.

Social Square Dancing

Join the fun, meet new friends and dance the night away! Square dancing is a fun, physical activity that is great for the body and brain. Enjoy being social while learning nearly 50 square dance calls that involve agility, coordination, recall, concentration, teamwork. No partner necessary, comfortable clothing and shoes recommended.

A FREE introductory class will be offered at the PTC on Wednesday, August 30 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm.

Autumn Solstice with Jim Kendros

Join composer and music researcher Jim Kendros for this informative and entertaining evening program of classical note. Jim will perform on the piano, the many nuances and intricacies behind the compositions being discussed. This is a signature program of the Patty Turner Center!

Total Balance Circuit Training

Join Fitness Instructor Judy Samuelson for this new, 8-week, group-training, balance workshop. This class will focus on fall prevention, balance exercises, strength and flexibility sequences; all interspersed with a variety of simple marching/walking exercises. Improve your mobility, posture and balance. Singles and couples are welcome! This class is limited to the first 15 students.

Sunday Morning Meditation and Conscious Relaxation

Join Lifestyle Coach, Claudia Braun, for this new, 4-week Sunday morning workshop of mindful meditation and relaxation. In this workshop, you will focus on stress reduction while being led through gentle, guided meditation sequences. Yoga mats are available upon request.

50+ Fitness Light and Lively

This is a fun and friendly fitness class for mature adult exercisers who love music, movement and exercise. Combining chair fitness with stretching and balance techniques, this fitness class will introduce students to a variety of exercises designed to build tone, improve balance and add flexibility. This class will be taught by experienced senior fitness instructor, Judy Samuelson.

Note - Section 03 is for those who wish to work out both Mondays and Thursdays at a reduced rate.

Tone & Firm

Staying toned and firm is a matter of dedication to a regular exercise routine. Join fitness instructor Michele Gross as she helps you improve your muscle tone and gain added strength and flexibility. In this class, emphasis is on the arms, hips, stomach, and legs. Routines include no jumping or jogging.

Memoir Writing for Seniors

Memoir Writing for Seniors introduces techniques for writing good memoirs from life experiences in this new, 3-day program and workshop. Join us at the PTC as author and instructor, Donna Urbikas, teaches you the basics of memoir writing. Learn more about process technique, editing and copy. Note – Class minimum is 10. A full commitment must be made to participate in this class. No cancellations.
