STRATHCLYDE METHODIST CIRCUIT : EDITION 4

DECEMBER 2021

Purl in the Field Welcome

a

We’re in the run up to Christmas where we maybe opening doors on our advent calendars and some of us are enjoying all the preparations. We may have written lists,(I love them!) of our favourite foods to buy, cards to write and have the floor covered in greenery to make a wreath or fill the mantlepiece with sweet-smelling natural decorations. This is the year when we’re focused on being eco-friendly, we might use up old paper, ribbons and bows from years gone by to wrap our gifts and decorate our homes. If none of these things describe our activities, then why not sit in our favourite chair, put some familiar carols on, make a cuppa and send a message to someone we’ve lost touch with, or look out of the window and pray for those who go by. Christmas is about giving, receiving and sharing love in so many different ways throughout the rest of the year. We take our example from Jesus, whose birth we celebrate.

He arrived on this earth as a baby and continues to guide and walk with us every step of the way.

DECEMBER 2021

a Knitted nativity

(knit now for 2022!)

Tilly here in winter I’ve chased those autumn leaves into a pile, to be used for mulch in the garden or for walking on and making crisp winter crunching sounds. Now it’s time to fatten me up for winter, (I’m pleased that I’m not a turkey!) Having eaten my ll, I curl up on my human’s lap, drawing comfort from their warmth and dream of nature. Walking outside lls me and you with peace, with beauty and lifts our spirits. Looking at plants, even on our tv and in our homes brings a calm and awe that God gives us too. As I sleep my human is reading, as their body relaxes so do I. I can control what I eat, where I go and who I spend time with. We can all do those things too. As I wake up my human is moving cushions looking for the pen to start the crossword and puts on the radio. The room lls with music and singing. They are reminiscing of childhood times and memories of growing up into the person they are today. Those tunes lead them to carols and to talking with God. fi

PURL IN THE FIELD

I go in search of a quiet corner to curl up and while away the afternoon to the click of knitting needles and patterns which ll so many hours with pleasure. Maybe as I sleep you can think of an idea for a Spring Circuit project. It can involve crafts, gardening, writing or anything you like. Something where we can engage with those outside of Church. I would love to hear your ideas. You can email me or send your favourite spring patterns, recipes or gardening plans too. I love hearing your news. Love Tilly x Why not try this:
