Welcome to Hononegah Community high school for tonight’s Week 1 Illinois High School Association Class 7A football playoff matchup between the #7 seeded Hononegah Indians and the #26 seeded Willowbrook Warriors.
I want to extend a warm welcome back to our beloved school grounds. Our teams have been working hard all summer, and we’re eager to showcase their talent, dedication, and the school spirit that makes Hononegah so special.
This season, we’re not just aiming for excellence on the field—we’re committed to fostering a culture of community, positive sportsmanship, and mutual respect in the stands as well. We believe that the true measure of our success lies not only in the victories we achieve but also in the character we display, both as athletes and as supporters.
Community First: At Hononegah, we’re more than just a group of teams—we’re a family. Really, I have been in three different districts and Hononegah has the greatest sense of community of all.It is truly a special place! Our community is strengthened by the support we offer each other, both on and off the field. Let’s continue to cheer each other on, celebrate our successes, and lift each other up during challenging moments.
Sportsmanship: Sportsmanship is at the heart of every game. Whether we’re winning or facing setbacks, let’s remember to respect our opponents, the officials, and each other. Our words and actions should reflect the values of integrity, fairness, and respect that we hold dear. While our student athletes and coaches continue to dedicate countless hours to their craft, we expect our fans to do the same and continue to be the best fans in Illinois.
Excellence in All We Do :Excellence is not just about the scoreboard—it’s about giving our best effort, showing discipline, and maintaining a positive attitude in every situation. This season, let’s strive for excellence in every play, every cheer, and every moment of support.
Your Ticket Gets You In—Your Behavior Determines If You Stay: We want every game to be a positive experience for everyone involved. Remember, your ticket is your entry to enjoy the game, but it’s your behavior that determines whether you stay. Let’s ensure that our conduct in the stands reflects the pride we have in our teams and our school.
As we gather to support our athletes, let’s make this season one of pride, positivity, and excellence—on the field, in the stands, and in our community. Together, we can make this a season to remember. Thank you for being a part of the Hononegah Athletics family. Let’s make this the best season yet! Go Indians!!
