Director’s Notes
Hello and welcome to Hononegah’s Performing Arts Center!
Thank you for joining us for this performance. As we get a glimpse into the mysterious and spooky lives of the Addams Family, we delight in the escape to observe such an odd lot. The legacy of a family that dreams, dares, and dances is, in fact, how we may start to see just how good a little bit of ‘crazy’ can be. In opening ourselves up to the joys the Addams find in the seemingly dreariest of places, we can peer beyond the surface to see for ourselves there can be hope in the despair, beauty in the sorrow, and light through the darkness. With light that can help us bring out the best in each other, we can take a cue from the creepy and kooky Addams. The gift it has been to see our students bringing out the best in each other over the last several months together is one I am pleased to offer you a glimpse into today. For when you’re an Addams, “it’s family first, and family last, and family by and by.” I encourage you to escape into the stories told before you and to then carry them with you beyond our theater walls and into your own journey.
Fondly,
Mrs. Carolyn Frieden DirectorAct well your part; there, all the honor lies.
About the Musical
The Addams Family musical, adapted from Charles Addams’ original singlepanel cartoons, is the first stage show adaptation among the numerous television and film adaptations. The award-winning musical depicts your not-so-average family as they try to navigate the chaos of Wednesday’s adolescent romance with her “normal” boyfriend, Lucas Beineke. Love can either triumph when these two families meet for dinner, or their differences can break the relationships of spouses and family. The musical, written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, and orchestrations by Larry Hochman, first debuted on Broadway in 2010. The story of love and family went on to win several awards including Tonys for Outstanding Set Design and Outstanding Lighting. The Addams Family is a timeless classic about what it means to be a family that continues to inspire avid theater-goers and die-hard fans of all things eerie to be unique, to embrace the unknown, and to move into their darkness.
Explosive sound effects, gunshot sound effects, and fog are used in this production.

Piper Ennett: Pit Orchestra, Bass & Clarinet
This is Piper’s first show as a part of the musical’s pit. She’s highly regarded as she’s participated in the ILMEA District 8 Ensemble (fall of 2022 & 2023), Rockford Wind Ensemble’s Youth Honors Band (2023 & 2024), and the 2023-24 ILMEA all-state ensemble. Piper is also the Captain of Hononegah’s Girls Bowling Team and a member of Student Council, National Honors Society, and Yearbook. In her spare time she loves reading, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.
Mekenna Gibson: Pit Orchestra, Drum Kit
This is Mekenna’s fourth show as a musical Pit Orchestra percussionist at Hononegah. She has previously performed in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Beauty and the Beast, and Mary Poppins. She’s greatly enjoyed the unique experience of performing live music over the years.
Juniper Gray: Member of Props & Costumes
June feels grateful to join for her fifth and final show. She has been involved in Props & Costumes for Beauty and the Beast and Mary Poppins. She is also involved in Tabletop Gaming and GSA here at Hononegah.
Debraruth Hayag: Wednesday Addams
Debraruth is SO grateful to be performing as her first lead in a musical as Wednesday Addamsl. She has previously been in A Midsummer Night’s Dream as Helena, as well as ensemble in Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast with Hononegah. Debraruth currently works at Christ United Methodist Church in Rockford as a Nursery Worker, and frequently volunteers around the Rockford community with her church. Debraruth’s future plans for college include an education in Aerospace Engineering. Debra would especially like to thank her siblings, Caleb, Vyen, Johann, and best-friends, Olivia Simpson and Tatym Mylin, for supporting her interests in musical theater and the arts. Finally, Debraruth’s tip for beginner singers is to keep trying, even if you think you’re a bad singer. Hope you enjoy the show, and thank you for coming!
Alise Heinrich: Ancestor
Alise is really excited to be in her second show at Hononegah. She has been in five shows total including Pocahontas, High School Musical (twice), Mary Poppins, and now Addams Family! Alise is also Co-President of Grace On Campus and spends most of her time teaching dance at Steps To Grace. She wants to thank her family and friends for always supporting her and also wants to thank God for the talents and gifts He has provided her. She hopes you enjoy watching the show!
Lily Henderson: Ancestor
This is Lily’s third and final show on the Hononegah stage and she couldn’t be more excited!
Lily has been in six shows total, three here at Hononegah and three at Willowbrook Middle School. Lily is also involved in softball here at Hononegah and with Forest City Toxic; she has been playing for about 11 years now! In her free time she enjoys watching The Walking Dead as well as spending time with family and friends. Lily would like to thank everyone who has shown their support for her throughout her busy highschool career. Thank you for coming! Enjoy the show!!
Saylor Kieper: Member of Props & Costumes
Saylor is very excited to help behind the scenes for her last high school show at Hononegah. Though she has been in many shows outside of Hononegah, the ones she has done for the school’s theater program have been her favorite. Saylor plans on attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the fall for Chemistry and hopes to continue with theater on the side.
Lily Klaus: Ancestor
Lily is thrilled to be performing their first full production on the Hononegah stage! They would like to thank their grandparents, Grammy Girl and Grammy Boy, for sparking the theater flame and their family for supporting their interests. Lily also enjoys performing in the Jazz Choir at Hononegah. Hope you all enjoy the show!
Gabe Kohl: Gomez Addams
Gabe is very excited to be performing in his third show here at Hononegah. He has previously been in Beauty and the Beast as Young Prince, Monsieur D’arque, some ensemble roles, Mary Poppins as Mr. Banks, and now Addams Family as Gomez!!!
Gabe is an All-State singer this year for the Mixed Choir. He is also a 2-year AllConference and 2-year All-Area Defensive End for the varsity football team here at Hononegah as well as the Co-President of Grace On Campus. He would like to thank God for the gifts and talents that He has given him; without these gifts, none of this would be possible. He would also like to thank everyone for coming, especially his friends and family. Enjoy the show!!!
Tia Leindecker: Member of Props & Costumes
Tia is happy to be a part of her last show at Hononegah! Crew was her favorite part of high school, so it’s a very bittersweet goodbye to the theater department! When Tia is not at Props & Costumes, she is usually playing video games, drawing, or talking about Sonic the Hedgehog. She would like to give a shoutout to her GOAT, Splinky. Enjoy the show!!
Corissa Maurer: Pit Orchestra, Flute
Corissa is so excited to be involved in her first musical in Pit Orchestra playing the flute! While this is her first time performing under the stage (literally), she has also performed in 12 musicals with CYT and been a part of their backstage crew. Her favorite shows include Seussical Jr. as Thing 2, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Peter Pan. Corissa is so grateful for this experience and hopes you enjoy the show (and music) as much as she does!
Annelise Mesa: Stage Manager, Head of Lighting, Co-Head of Stagehands
Annelise is incredibly grateful and excited to be stage managing her sixth show at Hononegah! She would like to thank the Friedens for their incredible direction, and the crew for all of their hard work and dedication. Through stage management Annelise has realized her passion for entertainment production, and she hopes to continue pursuing stage management as well as studying Cinema & Media Studies in college. Annelise is also the Second Vice President of Student Council, but in her (rare) free time she enjoys playing video games. She’s had the best time working on this show alongside some of their closest friends, and wishes the best to her ASM’s and crew heads taking over next year. She hopes you enjoy the show as much as the cast and crew did making it!
Sara Nielsen: Ancestor
Sara is extremely excited to be performing in this year’s spring musical, and she’s had a lot of fun preparing for show days. This is Sara’s first show at Hononegah, and she regrets not auditioning for previous shows. Music is a big part of Sara’s life outside the musical as she is involved in Jazz Choir at Hononegah and dance at MADF. This year Sara was selected for the ILMEA All-State Honors Chorus. Sara would like to thank her family for their support. Enjoy the show!
Lydia Nordgren: Lighting/Spot Operator
This is Lydia’s third show for Hononegah! She has done spotlight for Mary Poppins and Beauty and the Beast. Lydia also participates in Varsity Swimming and is very thankful to be involved in another after school activity. She would like to thank everyone in cast and crew for making every moment enjoyable, especially Annelise for teaching her how to do anything and everything in the PAC. Enjoy the show!
Jazlyn Oberg: Head of Props and Costumes, Co-Head of Stagehands
Jazlyn is thrilled to be a part of crew for their sixth (and final) show at Hononegah and eighth overall! Being a part of theater has been the best part of high school, and they couldn’t be more grateful to work with such an amazing cast and crew for the last three years. They would like to thank the Friedens and Mrs. Beard for creating such a welcoming environment for students, and a VERY special thanks to crew for their hours of dedication behind the scenes. Enjoy the show!
Lela Pagles: Member of Props & Costumes
This is the final musical that Lela will be assisting with. Lela has had the best time of their life helping with the Hononegah Theater productions. Some of those productions include Harvey, Mary Poppins, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Lela met most of their closest friends through these theater productions, and they are very sad to be leaving the school this year. Lela encourages their siblings to join the theater productions when they are older, whether it’s behind the scenes or in them. Lela will always keep the memories that they made here close to their heart. As hard as it is to leave, Lela looks to what they did instead of what they could do. Farewell, and adieu.
Logan Smith: Pit Orchestra, Bass Trombone
Logan is glad to be performing in the Pit Orchestra this year as Logan has yet to play in the pit during the previous shows. He is excited to finally join in on the fun, play some kooky tunes for the musical this year, and wishes he could play again next year as well.
Aiden Van Fleet: Mal Beineke
Aiden is excited to be performing in his sixth and final show at Hononegah. He has done nine overall shows in his career to date, including The Little Mermaid Jr., The Diary of Adam and Eve, Harvey, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Aiden is looking forward to continuing studying acting and graphic design at Rockford University in the fall. He would like to thank his family, friends, cast and crew from all of his shows, his directors, and his mom. Aiden hopes that everyone enjoys the show!
