BY ASHLEY EFFINGER
One of the most powerful and often overlooked tools for growing your business is building a strong email list Whether you're an office-based service provider or a retail storefront, an engaged email list helps you stay connected with customers, build loyalty, and increase repeat business
Why is it so important? Email marketing continues to deliver one of the highest returns on investment compared to any other marketing channel. Unlike social media, where algorithms control who sees your message, email gives you direct access to your audience's inbox You own the relationship
Actionable Ways to Grow Your Email List:
1. Offer Value Upfront
Whether it’s a discount, exclusive content, early access, or helpful resources give your customers a reason to subscribe For retail tenants, this could be a 10% off coupon for first-time sign-ups For office-based businesses, it might be a downloadable guide or industry insights
2. Use Signage & Digital Displays
For retail spaces, placing a sign at checkout or using QR codes on product displays makes it easy for customers to join your list on the spot Offices can add sign-up links to email signatures or QR codes in common areas
3. Leverage Events & Giveaways
Hosting or participating in community or networking events? Use these moments to capture emails. A simple "enter to win" drawing is a proven list builder.
4. Social Media & Website Integration
Promote your email sign-up form on your website, social profiles, and even Google Business listings
Building your email list doesn’t happen overnight, but consistent small steps will create long-term value
The more connected you are to your audience, the more opportunities you create to build relationships, promote your business, and drive growth!
