Design Testing ARUP’s structural engineer design review: 1.

Change timber structure to steel or aluminium

2.

Introduce more horizontal bracings to prevent wind movement when the unit is transported

3.

More stiffeners to chassis to ensure all load will be transferred directly to the chassis frame

4.

Introduce bumper bars on the perimeter of units and base plate to ensure panels are more protected against any contact damage

Prototyping Through developmental 1:1 model we note several limitations on the current design: 1.

Shell slides individually rather than as a unified unit due to non-rigid panel connector.

Track housing needs a mechanism to ground the castors to the frame.

Due to OHS reason, we decided to focus on moving 2 panels rather than the entirety of the shell to figure out how we can improve the design:

Belt system require stiff but rotate-able bracing between panels to allow for unified movement.

Tension cable was added to ground the wheel mechanism to the interior side of the frame.
