44 Greeves Street provides unique housing with a focus on light and space. Our precedent study was the ‘Nexus Housing Project’ by OMA, which used internal voids to provide light to residences. We have continued this idea through one large central cut and a smaller northern extraction to maximise direct winter sun. Each of these cuts form are expressed as glazed louvres, The brickwork is punctured with hit-and-miss patterning focused around fenestration. The northern houses interlock to allow an equality of light and individual access. The southern tower apartments all have upward sweeping windows to the north. Views and privacy in between the towers across the void are carefully controlled by a system of opacities in the louvres.
