Dear Mrs. Obama, Named in his honor, the Cesar Project will be inviting for many to come out and see the event at least once in a lifetime. Opening day Treo Holdings will invite: The Cesar Chavez family, CEC Foundation, Barak and Michelle Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton, Jeb and Columba Bush, Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Coretta King, Oregon governor Kate Brown, Portland mayor Charlie Hales, The Center for American Progress, Local Media TV, radio and newspapers, Roman Catholic Churches Portland, United Farm Workers union locals, Oregon colleges, Coegio Cesar Chavez (college named after Chavez in Mt. Angel, OR), Hosford-Abernathy & Ladd's Addition neighborhoods, all TH constituents, colleagues and friends and family. It's understood that those invited may send a representative in their absence. What's the Big Idea? Apartments To Honor Cesar Chavez - Latino Union Leadership Must Sell Vegetables That's What! Since Mr. Chavez was a political activist (and agitator) for labor reforms among Hispanic people, and hence, paved the way for more reforms and laws that protect those whom earn their living in the fields sowing and reaping for the American people while accepting low wages and unfair treatment because of race or ethnicity, Cesar Chavez personified the slow, non-violent agitation method to sway voter's opinion and near-mandate politicians to support his cause no matter how hard they tried not to, but they respected Chavez and never could repudiate what he laid out as "his law for his people". The 1986 federal immigration act led Chavez to be key for its amnesty provisions. What better way to demonstrate this than install a water symphony on the roof of the apartment building? This type of rooftop is a rarity by U.S. standards however, there are several companies in Portland that do rooftop ecology gardens. The rooftops on Cesar Chavez apartment building will have over 10,000 SF of useful space for planters, benches, waterfalls, gardens, decking and patios. And, if regulations permit, an elevator going to the roof. Utilizing rolling bars up on the rooftop, one could establish a night life to their business, a particular compliment

for a 1st-floor retail wine bar; roof top wine tasting. Since Mr. Chavez was a vegan farm worker first before a union organizer, the gardens should include those very vegetables in which he picked as a child, an adult and before his death. Feature garden window boxes made of iron on every apartment window, staggered and spaced, yet uniformly arranged. Si, se puede, using several low-spraying nozzles to create a slow, cascading water mist flowing over the building (usually made of tile in South America). Soothing the building, watering the gardens and providing pedestrians below with a misty, light spray most of the day during long, hot summers. At night when Hawthorne is bustling with entertainment and eateries, The Cesar should install a fountain in front of the building with colored lights and misting nozzles. Mist in the wind is unpredictable, a slow agitation. Of course, all water features will utilize warm water, slightly heated so as no freeze. Shoot What?! The Union Leader Conflict Resolution: Non-violent Protest & Agitation The Pleasantry Of Water's Unpredictable Annoyance Another feature (that'll need cooperation from 3 corners - Fred Meyer, Jiffy Lube and the Hawthorne Theatre; all on the same corner) is for the corner collectively agree to install a 1" diameter water nozzle with a piston pump, allowing a 5-gallon of water (my best guess) to be shot across the street diagonally from one corner sidewalk to a 12" diameter drain at the opposite sidewalk corner. For shooting and catching of the water, set them on a timer so that it can shoot any interval. Install these on each of the 4 corners of Cesar Chavez Blvd and Hawthorne adding colored lights at night. Benson HS students built those "bubbler" water fountains in downtown. I will inquire them to help design the systems along with the professionals. The unpredictable direction of the wind make the water drops a slow, methodical agitation like all Cesar's protests. I know the ideas sound ridiculous, yet precocious in nature and definitely crayonstained. What I describe, however it sounds can be translated. Cesar Chavez "Si, se puede" - Spanish for "Yes, one can" or "Yes it can be done" the slogan adopted for Barak Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. Chavez' March 31st birthday has become Cesar Chavez Day. Family land and farm lost after the great depression and became migrant farm workers in California. Quitting school in the 7th grade because he didn't want his mama to work in the fields. A navy veteran, he described it the worst 2 years of his life. Married his HS sweetheart and had 8 children. Organizer for worker's rights boycotting events recognized by president Robert F. Kennedy. Bill Clinton awarded Chavez with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This man rocked the boat when they said don't "Rock The Boat" Baby! Impressive and for all farm labor. We don't talk about him in the sphere of an Oskar Schindler, but we should. Cesar changed the lives of several million people that otherwise been rid to South American countries, impoverished to very little ends, especially in

early '80. How many of those millions that stayed had been saved during amnesty. I admire him for non-violent (at least what you don't hear, see and definitely will never speak) protests and his leadership all the way to the top.

It can't hurt to ask for a crowd, face serious rejection or a-pounding, then go again because it's the excitement which the mighty like trying. ~David Andrew Thorneycroft
