4K HDR p50 as a test of multiple qualities. This is our first 4K HDR test, which is available to our audience via our OTT service, NRK TV.
What technologies live in the NRK core? Do you trust in a specific manufacturer for video capture, distribution, etc.? Video capture is in general done by Quantel sQ1800 servers and EVS servers for studio and sports events. For playout in our main transmission we also have Harmonic Spectrum servers. NRKs automation system in our playout, Abit, is up for replacement and we will start a replacement process in Q2 2020.

We have also been exploring Open Source products such as Unity combined with Stype Kit tracking for AR and VR graphics in our news and live sports productions when suitable. The same system is also used when planned for in bigger entertainment events.
Our chosen MAM system is Tedial and is in the final phase of implementation. We have not yet used AI to streamline our workflows, but it’s on the backlog of areas to investigate in the near future.
