ENDICOTT PARK

Endicott Park is owned and operated by the Town of Danvers. The park encompasses 165 acres and is home to some of the most unique and varied recreational land on the North Shore. Today, Endicott Park attracts nearly 200,000 visitors a year. The park’s varied landscape includes pastoral views, historic farm buildings, orchards, woodlands, and marshes.

A network of trails and gravel roads allows for stress free exploration of the park. Endicott Park is home to the Danvers Dog Park, a newly renovated playground, and the brand new Nature Center. Endicott Park offers a number of options for groups wishing to reserve an area for private use or special events. For more information on the permit process, please visit the website at www.danversrec.com. Endicott Park is located at 57 Forest Street in Danvers and is open 9:00 AM—Dusk 365 days a year.

WATERFRONT & HARBOR

Nearly 800 boaters call Danvers homeport. This homeport consists of four rivers; the Danvers River, the Waters River, the Crane River and the Porter River. Danvers provides boaters with a naturally protected harbor with less than a 30 minute ride to the ocean. The Crane River Marina is the Town’s only public marina and provides dockage for 68 vessels up to 25’ in length. Pope’s Landing offers public restrooms, a lighted parking lot, scenic park, and picnic area. For a minimum charge you can launch your boat using our boat launch ramp. The Harbormaster's Office at Pope’s Landing offers pump out boat services where the pump out boat will come to any marina or mooring in Danvers and pump out your vessel free of charge. Pope’s Landing office is located at 8 Harbor Street in Danvers.

FUN CLUB

The Fun Club After School Program is a licensed school age childcare program that focuses on the individual child in a supportive environment while meeting the needs of working parents in Danvers. Fun Club provides quality care for children in grades K-5. The qualified staff members create a safe, caring, and supportive environment full of enriching recreation opportunities. Our staff supports the goals of social well-being and growth by meeting the individual development needs of each child. Fun Club afterschool program features many quality activities for children which may include: supervised homework time, group activities & fitness games, snack time, Zumba, karaoke, drama, sports, arts & crafts, walking field trips, music, indoor/outdoor games and much more!

FRIENDS OF DANVERS RECREATION

The Friends of Danvers Recreation is a private, non-profit organization (501C3) that was started to help the Town of Danvers meet the recreational needs of the community. The organization has successfully run various fund-raisers and programs and is always looking for new ideas and interested volunteers. Some events and projects that the Friends of Danvers Recreation has assisted in are: Summer Concert Series, Smith School Playground, Great Oak School Playground, Lawrence Street Park Playground, Rail Trail, Memorial Field Monument, Highlands School Walk, Endicott Park Playground, Danvers Dog Park and much more!

The Danvers Recreation Division is committed to providing facilities and programs that meet the needs of residents with disabilities. All arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Please contact the recreation office at 978-777-0001 x3094 with any questions.

PERMITS

All Town ballfields require a permit for organized play. In order to obtain a permit, applicants must read and sign the “Playing Field and Related Facility Permit Policy” and fill out a Permit Request Form. Both can be found by going to www.danversrec.com. Click “Field Permits” on the left hand side of the Recreation Division homepage.

EMPLOYMENT

Employment Applications can be found at www.danversrec.com under the “Employment” tab on the left hand side of the Recreation Division homepage. Applications can be emailed to recreation@danversma.gov, brought into our Town Hall office, or mailed to Town Hall Recreation Division, 1 Sylvan Street, Danvers, MA 01923.

REFUNDS

If you cancel your registration for a program for which Danvers Recreation has paid deposits, purchased equipment, or incurred other expenses on your behalf, your refund, if any, will be reduced by the amount of the expenses incurred, plus a $15.00 administrative fee.

Town Hall Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday ONLINE: 1. Go to www.danversrec.com and scroll down and click on the button with the soccer ball image on it. It says “Register & Pay for Programs.”

2. The link will take you to the “online registration” page. If you already have an account simply enter your username and password to begin the registration process.

A. To register for programs you must create an account for your household if you have not already done so. This will enable use of our online registration system.

B. If you already have an account, but forgot your login info, you may request your username and password via this site or call 978-777-0001 ext. 3094 to reset.

C. To pay a Fun Club balance or any other household balance, login and then click on the “Pay Account Balances” link on the homepage.

3. Once logged in, you can browse any category at the bottom. There are 8 registration categories: Seasonal Programs, Youth Sports, Fitness, Nature Programs, Trips, Facility Rentals, Fun Club, & Special Events.

4. Once you have found a program you would like to register for, click the icon of the green plus sign on the left-most side of the information bar beneath the activity description. When the information bar appears at the bottom of your screen, click “Add to Cart.”

5. Select the person in your household who you would like to enroll in the program by checking the gray box under their name. Then click the “Continue” button at the bottom left of your screen.

6. Make sure to read through the Activity Waiver. To continue with your registration you must agree to the waiver.

7. You will be brought to your shopping cart. Review your order. If correct, click “Proceed to Checkout” on the bottom left. If you would like to clear your shopping cart click the “X” icon next to the activity description.

8. Review the “Summary of Charges” and enter your payment method and billing information. When finished, click “Continue” at the bottom left of your screen to begin the payment authorization process and generate a confirmation receipt.

MASSACHUSETTS STATE PARK PROGRAM Danvers Recreation is collaborating with the Peabody Insititute Library to lend out knapsacks filled with hiking supplies and free parking passes for any Massachusetts State Park. Each bundle includes a DCR parking pass, a compass, binoculars, and guidebooks. Free to check out from the library!

Friday, October 25, 2019 at Endicott Park Our non-scary, family-friendly Halloween event is designed for children of all ages! The event will feature arts & crafts, children’s games, a guided hayride through our jack-o-lantern lit woods, and treats and entertainment by the campfire! ALL members of your family who are attending must be registered in advance and are encouraged to come in costume! If you are interested in donating a carved pumpkin to be featured in the jack-o-lantern woods please contact Erika Moretti directly at: emoretti@danversma.gov. Register for check-in times upon signing up, starting every half hour 4:30—7:00.

Hay Rides begin every half hour 5:00—7:30. Please bring a flashlight! Day-of check-in will be in front of the Children’s Barn. $20 per family.

DANVERS REC ANNUAL SNOWMAN CONTEST

Build a snowman, snow castle, or snow sculpture this winter and send a picture of your creation to Danvers Recreation for a chance to win a gift certificate! Winning categories include individual and family. To enter, email a picture of your creation to recreation@danversma.gov!

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC PROGRAM

With Ron Parsons, Laura Bailey, & Michael Amaral The Danvers Public Schools Music Department and Danvers Recreation are combining efforts to offer instrumental music lessons. This program provides students the opportunity to study one-on-one with a professional music instructor. Lessons run at a very relaxed pace and are tailored to your specific needs as a musician. Want to learn to read music better?

Improve your technique? Improve your range? Learn to play jazz? Drummers, want to learn to play timpani? Mallets? Learn specific technique for ALL the percussion instruments? Then these lessons are perfect for you! Lesson schedules will be made on a first come first serve basis. Interested students will be scheduled for a 1/2 hour lesson each week.

Starts: 9/2019 Ends: 6/2020 Program runs after school until 5 pm. Grades 4-12.

BABYSITTERS COURSE

Saturday, December 14, 2019 This course instructed by Ms. Debbie LaFlamme will cover topics to help your teen become a more responsible and trustworthy babysitter for family and friends! Recommended ages 11 and up!

Topics covered include interviewing with parents, infant & toddler care, handling bedtime issues, choosing safe & age-appropriate toys and games, and basic first aid. Program takes place at Holten Richmond Middle School from 9 am to 1 pm. $40 per participant.

Saturday, December 7, 2019 Hosted by the Friends of Danvers Recreation, Inc. and Danvers Recreation, this free holiday event is a great time for both children and adults alike!

Activities include pony rides, a horse drawn wagon for children and adults, bouncy houses, petting zoo, trackless train rides, children’s activities, prizes and many goodies such as popcorn, cookies, candies and hot chocolate!

Santa will arrive around 1:00 PM to greet the children! Each child will have an opportunity to receive a photo of themselves with Santa. This event is entirely funded from many generous community sponsors and would not be successful without them! Friday, December 13, 2019 @ 6 PM Bring a flashlight and a bag to Endicott Park and collect all the Candy Canes spread throughout our activity field! Age groups will be split but families with children in more than one age group are more than welcome to choose to participate in whichever they are more comfortable. Remember, there are a limited amount of candy canes and they go fast! Strategic planning and running shoes will be helpful in your hunt! FUTURE FALCONS REC BBALL LEAGUE

New this winter! This program strives to teach the fundamentals of the game, introduce the rules and regulations to the players, create friendships, team bonding and sportsmanship all while playing in a league format. The league will be co-ed, and will be broken into two separate groups. Grades 1 & 2 will play together in the "College League" and grades 3, 4 & 5 will play together in the "Pro League."

MINI HOOPSTERS

Mini Hoopsters is an introductory basketball program for children ages 4 - 6. The fundamental basics of basketball are taught through instruction and games designed for fun and learning. $40 per session.

Session 1: 11/30 - 12/21 Session 2: 1/4 - 1/25 Saturdays from 10 to 10:45 am at the HRMS Gym.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

U40 & Jack Benny @ HRMS These self-officiating pick-up leagues meet Monday nights and will form new teams each week!

Registration cost includes a reversible basketball shirt. Men’s basketball is U40 and meets from 7:30 to 9 pm. Jack Benny is for ages over 40 and meets from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Program runs from November 4 April 6. No Program 12/23, 12/30, 1/20 or 2/17.

WEEKDAY HOOPSTERS

at Thorpe Elementary This 4 week program is designed for teaching 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls introductory basketball skills. The program features fun, non-competitive, instructional games conducted in small groups.

Fundamental dribbling, passing, shooting and teamwork are the core elements of this program.

Cost: $45 per session.

Session 1: Mondays, 11/25 - 12/16, 3:30 - 4:30 PM Session 2: Mondays, 1/6 - 2/3, 3:30 - 4:30 PM (*No 1/20)

FALL FUN W/ MS. NANCY Celebrate the Fall season with friendship!

Participants will create a variety of fantastic Fall and Halloween crafts, play games, have a pizza party, go on a hay ride, and make their own dessert at the Cookie Decoration Station!

Includes lunch and all materials $55 Monday October 14th 9am-2pm (no school) For Boys & Girls ages 4 - 12.

MOM & ME HOLIDAY CRAFTING & COCOA with Miss Nancy Boys and girls ages 4-12 can bring someone special to help them create seasonal items such as swags, wreaths, ornaments or a centerpiece. Feel free to bring something that you want to decorate or browse what we have to design. We have a variety of articifical greens, syrofoam shapes, ceramics and a gorgeous array of specialty ornaments to choose from. Enjoy songs of the season, refreshments, and friendship on Wednesday, December 4th from 5:30 7:30 PM at DHS. Cost is $30 per registration.

WRESTLING

With Coach Mike Anderson The sport of wrestling builds strength, agility, character and self-confidence in children of all ages. Wrestlers will learn the skills of wrestling during practices and will then have the opportunity to utilize those skills throughout the season in scrimmages, meets and tournaments with other Big East Division programs. No experience necessary! Program runs from 12/2 2/26 and meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 - 7:30 pm at the DHS Vye Gym. $99 per participant.

FALL YOUTH VOLLEYBALL

With Coach Lindsay Rescott These fun introductory volleyball sessions are designed to teach the basics of volleyball including attacking, passing, setting, and blocking. For all children in grades 3-8 with any level of experience! Program runs on Tuesdays from 6 - 7 pm at the HRMS gym. Nov 5 - Dec. 17. $65 per participant.

KARATE CLUB

with Trevor Harwood Join us in this introductory karate class with 2nd degree black belt instructor Trevor Harwood. This class is designed for boys and girls in grades K-5.

Classes focus on age appropriate activities, with no physical contact. Karate Club will develop excellent physical fitness, self-discipline, build selfconfidence, get into the spirit of competition and cultivate mind and body harmony.

Session 1: 11/30 - 12/21 Session 2: 1/4 - 1/25 Saturdays from 11 to 12 at the HRMS Gym. 11

Join Kayla O’Brien for a great year of Fall Tennis!

Students in grades K-5 will focus on tennis fitness, hand-eye skills, basic tennis stroke technique and ball & racquet control. Students will participate in lots of fun games and activities! Middle School Tennis focuses on stroke mechanics, strategy, patterns of play, physical and mental conditioning and a King-of-Court style tournament on the last day of the program.

This program is designed for students who have completed beginner tennis and want to advance.

Students are required to bring regulation racquet, sneakers and athletic attire appropriate for fall weather. Program runs 9/8 - 10/20 on Saturdays at DHS. Grades K-2 will meet from 9 to 10 am, Grades 3-5 will meet from 10 to 11 am, and Grades 6-8 will meet 11 am to 12 pm.

Cost: $75 per participant.

VERTICAL TRAINING & VOLLEYBALL TUNE-UP With Coach Lindsay Rescott This volleyball program is designed for Middle School and High School students looking to take their game to the next level. Sessions are designed to advance players beyond the basics of volleyball including attacking, passing, setting, and blocking. For all children in grades 6-12.

Program runs 2/17-2/19 from 11 - 12:30 PM. Cost: $65 per participant.

VACATION FUN WITH MS. NANCY PURCELL

Children in grades K-7 are welcome to join Miss Nancy for three days of fun during February Vacation! Activities include dancing, crafting, gym games, basketball, soccer, bracelet making, painting and much more! This program runs from Tuesday 2/18 to Thursday 2/20 from 9 am - 1pm at HRMS. $150 per participant.

ENDICOTT ADVENTURES

This February Vacation, elementary students are invited to learn about local wildlife through games, stories and activities at Endicott Park! Endicott Park’s Naturalist Erika will lead children in an exploration of the park to learn how plants and animals adapt to seasonal conditions. Children should come dressed to spend time outdoors. Sign up for individual or all three days! This program will run Tuesday 2/18 - Thursday 2/20, 9 am - 3 pm during February Vacation and Tuesday 4/21 - Thursday 4/23, 9 am - 3pm during April Vacation. $30 per participant.

EXTRA INNINGS

This 5-day clinic at Middleton Extra Innings covers the fundamentals of baseball including hitting, fielding, pitching, throwing and base-running.

Players from 7 to 12 years old are separated into age groups and rotated through different stations.

Each station is designed to teach players a different skill and is taught by an Extra Innings instructor in their area of expertise! This program runs from Monday 2/17 to Friday 2/21, 8:30 am 12:30 pm. $125 per participant.

With Kelly Pszenny Boot Camp is designed for every fitness level and will improve the current level of fitness of everyone that participates. All aspects of fitness (cardio, strengths, and flexibility) are covered and will give you the kick start you need to get on the road to optimum health in 2019-2020. The program is designed to keep you motivated, disciplined and structured so you will have a great experience. Ages 16+.

LITTLE EXPLORERS

All young explorers are invited to discover nature with Endicott Park’s Naturalist Erika! Each class will focus on seasonal nature themes such as seeds, habitats, ponds, animal sounds, and much more. Little Explorers aims to increase appreciation for science and the outdoors while developing skills in observation, classification, counting and investigation. This is a great opportunity for children and adults to explore some of the amazing places at Endicott Park.

Parents should plan to participate!

Pre-K: (Ages 3-5) Fridays 11am- 12pm (10/25 - 11/22). Parent participation is encouraged. $143 for 5 classes.

MAPLE SUGARING

Late February/Early March - Stay tuned for date Join Endicott Park Naturalist Erika as she walks us through the maple sugaring process! Participants will learn the basics of tree identification, participate in sap collection and enjoy some freshly boiled Endicott Park maple syrup on top of ice cream! Please register all family members attending! Fee: $20 per family. Session 1 takes place at 11 am and session 2 takes place at 2 pm.

Kids’ Test Kitchen is on a mission to get young eaters cooking, tasting, and thinking about healthy ingredients! Let’s continue to redefine kid food; one lesson, and one child at a time!

Each class presents students with an opportunity to explore new or familiar foods in their raw, unmanipulated state. Then, working as a team, we’ll slice, dice, peel, measure, and cook until we’ve prepared the finished dish. Lessons are planned to celebrate seasonal produce, warm you on a brisk Fall day, and offer ideas for quick and healthy family meals. At the end of class your aspiring chef will receive the main ingredient, or a sample of the finished dish, and the recipe so that they can show off what they’ve learned!

NATURE CENTER

at Endicott Park Visit the Nature Center at Endicott Park, open to the public Wednesday's 9 - 5 and Saturday's 9 - 1. The Nature Center showcases displays that explore the park's relationship with nature through exhibits and interactive experiences. Designed for visitors of all ages, the family-friendly center features changing exhibitions, hands-on displays and a workspace for arts and crafts. Exhibits include preserved mounted animals and nature dioramas. Free for all to visit!
