Dear Danvers Residents,

We hope you and your families are all doing well. These are very difficult and challenging times for all of us as this pandemic has made its way through our country and we attempt to get back to our new normal. We here at Danvers Recreation have spent a considerable amount of time over the past few months following the various phases and guidance that has been available to us in determining the impact that Covid -19 has had on our community, and particularly its impact on our recreational programming. After careful consideration we have determined that we cannot offer the traditional recreation programming that we had developed and planned to offer to you this summer. What we have decided is that we can offer a new exciting program for you this summer at three different locations with different experiences at each program. We are calling it “Summer 2020.” Summer 2020 will be a combination of three programs you may be familiar with, Falcons, Park and SNAKE. The staff is working hard on putting together a great summer that follows all of the new guidelines we must follow. This new program unfortunately will not meet everyone’s needs in the community, but it is something that we feel we can do safely, at an affordable price and packed with fun. We hope you can appreciate the thought and time we put into this decision, as it was not made lightly, but we feel it is in the best interest of all at this time. In the meantime, please take the time to experience out great local parks, waterfront, trails and open spaces the Town of Danvers has to offer. We look forward to seeing you real soon.

Regards, Danvers Recreation

Summer 2020 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)

Can I sign up my child up for multiple weeks? Yes, you can sign up for as many as you’d like. Can I sign my child up for different locations? Yes, you can sign up for a different location every week if you’d like. Once committed to a site for the week, they must remain at that site for the week. No floating between sites will be allowed during the week. Will the Park, Snake, Falcons, or Let’s Play Sports programs be running? Unfortunately these programs will not be running this summer due to the restrictions surrounding the coronavirus, but we look forward to these programs returning next summer. How can we ensure other children aren’t sick with the coronavirus? While we cannot ensure 100% safety from the coronavirus or perform testing daily, we are trusting in honesty from legal guardians who will be asked a series of questions daily at drop off relating to the physical status of their children in relation to coronavirus symptoms. What happens if someone becomes symptomatic with covid-19 at the program? For children: Parents will be notified immediately. The child will immediately be isolated from others until parents arrive to pick up the child and remove them from the program. For staff: Staff must cease childcare duties immediately and be removed from others until they can safely leave. Staff must regularly self-monitor during the day to screen for new symptoms and seek a medical professional’s opinion prior to being cleared to return to work. Is there a sibling discount available? There is no sibling discount available, as we are running a lean program aimed at being cost effective for families. Are scholarships available? Contact our office if you are struggling to afford the program. Scholarships are available to those who qualify.
