Our toys have been Nordic Swan Ecolabelled since 2010 dantoy is the first manufacturer of plastic toys to have its products certified to the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. To qualify, dantoy must comply with requirements for health and the environment, as well as stringent requirements for chemicals. Nordic Swan Ecolabelled toys do not contain phthalates, PVC or fragrances. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel looks at the overall environmental impact and the entire product journey – for the benefit of people, the environment and the world’s resources.

Blue Marine Toys are made from maritime gear; nets, trawls and ropes from the fishing industry. Made from 100% recycled, Nordic Swan Ecolabelled materials that is collected from our own inhouse production. Bioplastic toy, made of at least 90% sugarcane, a sustainable raw materiale, and our bioplastic is 100% recyclable. dantoy BIO products have the same qualities as our traditional plastic toys. The “I’m Green” symbol from Braskem, may only be used after the amount of sustainable raw materials contained in the product has been verified. “I’m Green” PE (bioplastic) is made of at least 90% sugarcane (ethanol). Ethanol, a form of alcohol, is extracted from sugarcane, after which it is used to make bioplastic. Plastic toys licensed for the Nordic Swan Ecolabel must comply with one of the world’s strictest environmental certifications in the world. Ecolabelled products may not contain phthalates, synthetic fragrances or endocrine-disruptive substances. The entire life cycle of the product, from raw material to production, use, disposal and recycling, is included in the assessment, when drawing up the requirements for an ecolabelled product. 99% of dantoy’s toys are manufactured in-house at our factory in Hobro, Denmark. All dantoy products carry the CE mark, a key indicator of product compliance with the EU legislation that enables the free movement of products in the European market. dantoy is licensed pursuant to “Der Grüne Punkt”, a German eco-label implemented by Duales Systems Deutschland GmbH, to symbolise dantoy’s collection and recycling of used packaging. dantoy is a partner of Operation Clean Sweep, which is working for a cleaner environment and whose aims include reducing the discharge of plastic granules from manufacturing companies into the sea. dantoy role-play items are approved for contact with foods. We design and produce eco-friendly plastic toys, utilizing the latest technology and materials available. The factory site covers 16,000 square metres (160,000 square feet) with round the clock production process. dantoy exports 80% of its total turnover to 55 countries around the world.
We are proud to tell that almost 100% of our catalogue range is Nordic Ecolabelled. This year we will launch a new product line made of recycled fishing gear, Blue Marine Toys. Residual product from sugarcane production The processing of raw sugarcane into sugar creates a residual product that can be converted into ethanol and used in dantoy bioplastic. The sugarcane is crushed up to five times. The first two crush cycles produce “extract A”, which is used for sugar production, while “extract B”, which is thinner, is extracted by adding water to the last three crush cycles.
“Extract B” does not contain the pure sugar crystals that are necessary for sugar production. Instead, it is used to produce ethanol, which in turn is used to make bioplastic. For more information visit www.dantoy/BIO.

made from recycled fishing gear We are proud to present Blue Marine Toys – a line made from maritime gear which has been turned into toys with beautiful new colours. The colours for the Blue Marine Toys are very suitably inspired by sand, sea and corals. Blue Marine Toys is an entirely new and exciting line of sand and water toys. The products in the line are made of plastic that comes from nets, trawls and ropes from the fishing and maritime industry. This range is a collection of products that together can be considered as part of a story. Products with a net-like structure, a mill, where sand runs through several processes – just like when the plastic materials are thoroughly sorted – lorries, which transport the maritime gear, and boats, which come from the oceans. On a world scale, it is estimated that more than 12 million tonnes of plastic end up in the ocean every year. 10% of this, i.e. 500,000 kg – 1 million tonnes, is maritime gear such as nets, lines and rope*. Our supplier of raw materials is a Danish specialist in converting recyclable materials into high-quality plastic materials. Before the raw materials are delivered to dantoy, they are tested in accordance with European standards. A description of the test of the raw materials is included in our ISO system as an assurance of the same high quality. dantoy would like to have this range bear the Swan Eco Label, but due to a lack of traceability back to the producer, this is currently not possible.
