Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker/ Rosas (BE) Pioverà

25 min Hallen

One of the greatest choreographers of our time, Belgian Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, performs herself in the solo ”Pioverà”. Beautifully and complexly, she explores the manifold ways of being out of sync and returns to her roots in this solo. With this piece, she revisits Steve Reich’s early music and the compositional technique of phase shifting, which was key to De Keersmaeker’s early works and which she has developed as a choreographic principle.

Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is one of the most important and acclaimed dancers and choreographers of our time, serving as an indispensable reference for generations of dancers, choreographers, and audiences. Since 1980, De Keersmaeker has produced an extensive body of work, encompassing more than 70 performances. In 1995, she established P.A.R.T.S.— now one of Europe’s most renowned schools for dance and choreography, where some of Europe’s most groundbreaking and prestigious choreographers have been educated.

Choreography and dance: Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Music: It’s Gonna Rain af Steve Reich, 1965. Sound technician: Antoine Delagoutte. Production: Rosas. Rosas is supported by the Flemish Community and the Flemish Community Commission (VGC). The work was created for and in dialogue with the opening of Ann Veronica Janssens’ exhibition ”Grand Bal” at Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan in 2023.

Dansk Danseteater v. Marina Mascarell (ES) Bloody Moon

20 min Hallen

Dansk Danseteater’s artistic director, Marina Mascarell, has created ”Bloody Moon,” inspired by Georges Bataille’s work ”Eroticism.” It is a fabulous celebration of the three forms of eroticism: the eroticism of the body, the eroticism of the heart, and the sacred eroticism, performed by 9 international dancers.

Bloody Moon is Marina Mascarell’s first world premiere created for Dansk Danseteater. Mascarell has created works for some of the world’s leading dance companies, and now the audience can finally experience her and Dansk Danseteater’s dancers in beautiful harmony. The company is one of Northern Europe’s leading dance ensembles, with a permanent base at the Opera House and handpicked dancers from around the world. The repertoire ranges from large stage productions to open-air events like Copenhagen Summer Dance, and the company tours extensively both nationally and internationally with its works.

Director: Marina Mascarell. Choreography: Marina Mascarell in collaboration with Jessica Lyall, Lukas Hartvig-Møller, Merete Hersvik, Bradley Waller, Lúa Mayenco Cardenal, Kristin Bjerkestrand, Leticia Silva, Yi-Shao, Amancio Gonzalez, Wolf Govaerts, Lola Potiron, Luca Tomaselli. Dancers: Jessica Lyall, Lukas HartvigMøller, Bradley Waller, Leticia Silva, Yi-Shao, Amancio Gonzalez, Wolf Govaerts, Lola Potiron, Luca Tomaselli, Nicky Daniels. DARK, HAPPY, to the

55 min The Blackbox

DARK, HAPPY, to the CORE delves into the myth of ecstasy and euphoria. This wild and complex exploration, commissioned by Roskilde Festival 2023, not only examines what makes us human and what binds us together but also manifests a wealth of symbols, archetypes, and structures for dance that create affect and emotion. Seven international dancers take the audience on a breathtaking journey from ritualistic darkness, through happy hardcore, to Caribbean coolness. They strive for the utopian without worrying about ever reaching it.

Malik Nashad Sharpe/ Marikiscrycrycry is an award-winning choreographer and movement director known for his provocative and formally engaging performance works that address themes such as violence, alienation, terror, and melancholy. His work has been commissioned and presented by venues and festivals across Europe, the UK, and North America. In 2022, he was featured on Forbes’ ‘30 under 30’ list for his contribution to the development of dance in Europe.

Marie Kaae (DK) WIRED

35 min Studio 03

Bass, beats, and softness create the soundscape that envelops the audience in WIRED – a preview of a new work by house queen Marie Kaae. Step into an intimate underground club with modern Afrodiasporic electronic music and dance. The work centers on spirituality, vulnerability, sensuality, play, and community as a rebellion against the all-too-common focus on suffering, anger, and hyper-sexualization as the interesting aspects of black culture. Here, the revolution is joy and love.

Marie Kaae is an artistic director, choreographer, dancer, and wordsmith. A local and global pioneer of house dance with 22 years of experience in performing arts as a dancer and choreographer. The child of a Cameroonian jazz musician, she has an expression characterized by sensuality, grace, and rhythm. Marie Kaae is interested in the healing potential of art.

Body percussion, dance, rap & music: Damon Frost. Dance & music: Jade “Soul” Zuberi / Jay Sound. Vocals, music, & dance: Raffael Bender. Vocals, music & movement: Josephin Bovien. Music & movement: Johan Klinkvort / Shatter Hands. Choreography, spoken word & dance: Marie Kaae. WIRED is developed by BAB ApS and co-produced by Dansehallerne with a premiere in the fall of 2025.

MYKA (DK) & Ray Roa Alonso (PI/UK) Regnbuen

35 min Studio 04

The whole family can be swept into the universe of “The Rainbow.” A dancing installation that celebrates hope and diversity. With three dancers in fantastic costumes created by Henrik Vibskov, body and space are magically transformed into moving installations and living sculptures in interaction with a soundscape by Cristian Vogel.

MYKA was founded in 2012 by My Grönholdt, a Swedish choreographer, dancer, and performer based in Denmark and a graduate of the Danish National School of Performing Arts in 2011. MYKA produces highly visual and aesthetic performances that unfold socially relevant themes with a magical and poetic approach and with hope for the future.

Ray Roa Alonso is a freelance dance artist with roots in the Philippines, raised in England, and now residing in Copenhagen. Ray Roa Alonso holds a bachelor’s degree from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and has furthered his education at the London Contemporary Dance School and the Danish National School of Performing Arts.

Sparrow Dance/ Se Byen Vertikalt (DK) Breathing from the ground up

12 min On the Facade

The facade of Dansehallerne’s new building will be brought to life in a very special way for the opening with excerpts from the work ”Breathing from the Ground Up.” The audience is invited to a new perspective as two dancers move from the roof in a fascinating vertical duet, walking, dancing, and flying across the facade of the new dance house. The piece is an excerpt from a performance created for a silo and the industrial, abandoned, and beautiful coastal landscape at Struer Harbour in West Jutland. The sound and sensation of the raw nature that breathes with the vertical dance are transferred here to Dansehallerne’s new house.

Se Byen Vertikalt is an artistic collaboration between dancers Esther Wrobel, Mette Møller Overgaard, and sound artist David Navndrup Black. The trio has been creating extraordinary works together since 2017. Sparrow Dance is an interdisciplinary performing arts association for vertical dance founded by Esther Wrobel. Sparrow Dance aims to promote and explore vertical dance and to develop the use of architecture as an active participant in influencing movement.

Concept & idea: Se Byen Vertikalt.Dance: Mette Møller Overgaard & Esther Wrobel. Sound: David Navndrup Black. Costumes: Inbal Libliech. Produced by See the City Vertically. Co-produced by Sparrow Dance.

30 min Studi0 01, Outdoor Square

A family workshop for children aged 4 and up and their adults. SOMA PLAY STOP activates both young and old to see public spaces through playful lenses and to engage with a neighborhood through the body. The day offers three workshops:
