Rules of DANSIC21 Circular Challenge The DANSIC21 case competition is based on fairness, equity, and sportsmanship. We kindly ask that all participants abide by the rules. Not following the rules will result in disqualification.

§1. Violation of any rules may result in disqualification of the team. §2. All materials produced during the DANSIC21 Case competition, including the teams´ presentations, photos, and videos are the joint property of DANSIC21 and creators.

General §3. The teams will prepare one solution during the competition, according to the case given/selected. §4. The case will be released on dansic.innoflow.io on Friday, May 21st, 2021 at 12:00 pm CET. §5. The final solution from the teams must be submitted on the Innoflow platform before Monday, May 24th 2021 at 12 pm CET. Late submissions will not be accepted and if nothing is uploaded the team will be disqualified. §6. The teams will prepare one solution during the competition, according to the case given/selected. §7. Teams can submit as many times as they want before the deadline. The last upload will be the final submission.


Page 3 §8. The submission material must be of: 1. A single A4 page summarising the solution and important points in text format (max 2400 characters without spaces) unless else is given in the case. 2. A maximum of 15 slides excluding appendices and front-page unless else Is given by the case. The appendices will not count in the evaluation of the solution. (The size of the slides must be 16:9.) 3. All material must be submitted anonymously. Thus, teams are not allowed to include name, university in their submissions. 4. The solution must be submitted as a single PDF document - this means that you will have to merge the executive summary and the slides (with the executive summary in front). §9. Outside help is not allowed during the case solving, this includes, but is not limited to; help from faculty staff, other students, and any non-team member. §10. Databases that require a login are not allowed to be used during the case solving. All information used for the solution must be available for all to find. §11. Teams are allowed to use all resources available to research and develop their solution but are restricted by §8 and §9. §12. Teams advancing in the finals are required to facilitate their own technical setup for the finals, including, stable internet connection and reasonable sound and video equipment. In instances where teams encounter technical difficulties, the organizing committee should be contacted and a pre-recorded video presentation should be submitted 30 min before the scheduled presentation time.


Page 4 §13. Teams advancing in the competition must be available for equipment and connection testing sessions before the finals. Lack of availability may result in disqualification. §14. The selected finalists must be available on May 29th, to participate online in the final round.

Evalulation §15. Evaluation criteria will be described in the case. §16. All solutions submitted will be reviewed by juries from their respective track who will select the top 5 teams to qualify for the final round for each track. Teams will be notified no later than May 26th at 5 pm. Finals will be held on the 29th of May §17. During the final round, each team will present their solution over an online video conference call (facilitated by DANSIC) to a panel of judges and representatives from the given case company. §18. The Finalists must be able to facilitate their technical setup and have to be available to participate in the equipment and connection testing sessions, subject to §12 and §13. §19. Teams may present their solution in a PDF format. §20. Teams may use notes and/or cue cards during their presentations. §21. In the final round, each presentation will be presented within the presented structure and given timeframe by DANSIC21. Finalists will receive notification 2 days before their final presentation


Page 5 §22. The presentation should be held under the same circumstances present at a physical presentation. Thus, during the presentation and Q&A no outside help is allowed, including, but not limited to; guidance from others or any other interaction with non-team entities. §23. Before presenting, a check-up will be conducted for each team and member to ensure that the facilities are in accordance with §21. This is solely done to ensure the integrity and fairness of the competition, providing equal competing grounds for all teams. §24. The judges will select one team to be the winner from each track.

Confirmation of enrolment §25. Teams proceeding to the final of DANSIC21 Case Competition are required to provide confirmation of enrollment and availability, see §26 and §27. Please have the appropriate documentation ready in advance.

Eligibility and team formation To be eligible to participate in DANSIC21 Case Competition, you must meet the following requirements: §26. You are a student, either undergraduate or graduate, at an African or Nordic university, or a recent graduate from an African or Nordic university at the time of the competition. §27. You can commit to participating during the period of 21/5-24/5 and again on the 29/5 if your team advances to the final. Teams that are not compliant will be disqualified. §28 Finalists have to be able to facilitate their technical setup. Finalists have to be available for the connection testing session.

§29. Teams must consist of 2-4 eligible students. There are no requirements for gender balance on teams. §30. Teams that have not met the requirements of at least 2 eligible students by the case launch will not be able to upload a solution. §31. Teams can be formed across universities and countries.

Prize §32. Winner of the case competition is decided by the respective judges of each track through a ranking system of: 1st. Place / Winner 2nd. Place 3rd. Place. §33. The winning prize is worth a total of up to 10.000 DKK as well as 4 consulting sessions together with Sustory and DANSIC21. Agreement for consulting sessions with Sustory and DANSIC21 will be finalized together with prize-winners.

§34. Winner for the DANSIC21 Case Competition are eligible to receive the prize worth a total of up to 10.000 DKK as well as 4 consulting sessions with our partner Sustory (optional) for a project. §35. DANSIC21 will also provide prizes for 2nd and 3rd place. Prizes include 3 consulting sessions offered by our partner Sustory and DANSIC21. Consulting sessions can not be converted to money. Further information will be provided through a contract given to 2nd. - and 3rd. place by DANSIC21 and Sustory §36. To receive the prize, the winners will have to agree to provide the necessary information, as well as prove and provide ownership of a bank account. §37. In case winners are not being able to provide the required, the prize money will be forfeited to a charity. §38. DANSIC will not be held accountable for winners not receiving prizes. In a case of misinformation given to DANSIC, winners have to notify DANSIC within a reasonable time. §39. DANSIC will not divide the prize within the team. One person from the winning team will receive it and the team has to agree on which one. *Please keep in mind that the rules are preliminary and may be subject to change. We therefore advise you to look at the rules once again on May 21st at case launch.
